Het feest van de Heilige Drie-eenheid
laat ons meer en meer thuiskomen
in het mysterie van Gods oneindige liefde.
God is gezelschap en zoekt mensen op
om met Hem in relatie te treden.
Jezus ‘woorden en daden getuigen
van Gods liefdesaanbod voor iedereen.
Hij blijft ons nabij door zijn Geest
die voortdurend in ons bidt.
Laten we stem geven aan de Geest
en verbonden met Jezus en elkaar
God loven en danken.
EERSTE LEZING Deut. 4, 32-34.39-40
De Heer is God in de hemel daarboven en op aarde beneden; er is geen ander.
Uit het boek Deuteronomium
Mozes sprak tot het volk en zei:
“Ga de oude tijden maar na die u zijn voorafgegaan
vanaf de dag dat God mensen op de aarde schiep.
“Kijk maar van het ene uiteinde van de hemel tot aan het andere:
is er ooit zoiets groots gebeurd
of is er ooit iets dergelijks gehoord?
“Heeft het volk ooit een god uit het vuur horen spreken zoals gij,
en daarbij het leven behouden?
“Of heeft ooit een god gepoogd
uit een ander volk u te komen uitkiezen door beproevingen,
door tekenen en wonderen,
door oorlogen, met sterke hand en opgestoken arm,
door grote, schrikwekkende daden,
zoals de Heer uw God
die voor uw ogen in Egypte heeft verricht?
“Erken dan heden en prent het in uw hart:
de Heer is God

Zalig het volk dat de Heer heeft als God.
Oprecht is het woord van de Heer

Broeders en zusters,
Allen die zich laten leiden door de Geest van God,
zijn kinderen van God.
De geest die gij ontvangen hebt, is er niet een van slaafsheid
die u opnieuw vrees zou aanjagen.
Gij hebt de geest van het kindschap ontvangen
die ons doet uitroepen:
“Abba, Vader!”
De Geest zelf bevestigt het getuigenis van onze geest
dat wij kinderen zijn van God.
Maar als wij kinderen zijn,

IV. Polkitiek en economie in dialoog voor een volle menselijke ontplooiing
189. De politiek moet zich niet aan de economie onderwerpen en deze moet zich niet onderwerpen aan de voorschriften en het op efficiëntie gerichte paradigma van de technocratie. Wanneer wij denken aan het algemeen welzijn, hebben wij er vandaag onontkoombaar behoefte aan dat politiek en economie zich in dialoog vastbesloten ten dienste van het leven, vooral van het menselijk leven, stellen. Het redden van de banken ten koste van alles en daarvoor de bevolking de prijs laten betalen zonder de onwrikbare vastberadenheid het hele systeem te herzien en te hervormen, bevestigt opnieuw een absolute macht van het geld die geen toekomst heeft en alleen maar naar een lange, kostbare en schijnbare oplossing nieuwe crises zal kunnen scheppen. De financiële crisis van 2007-2008 was een gelegenheid om een nieuwe economie te ontwikkelen die meer let op de ethische principes, en voor een nieuwe reglementering van de financiële speculatieve activiteiten en van de virtuele rijkdom. Maar er is geen reactie geweest die ertoe heeft geleid opnieuw na te denken over de verouderde criteria die de wereld blijven beheersen. De productie is niet altijd rationeel en zij houdt dikwijls verband met economische variabelen die de producten een waarde toekennen die niet altijd beantwoordt aan hun werkelijke waarde. Dit bepaalt vaak een overproductie van sommige goederen met een onnodige milieubelasting, die tegelijkertijd vele regionale economieën schaadt. Een financiële zeepbel is gewoonlijk ook een productiezeepbel. Wat men niet vastberaden aanpakt, is uiteindelijk het probleem van de reële economie, zodat het mogelijk wordt dat de productie wordt gediversifieerd en verbeterd, dat de ondernemingen adequaat functioneren en dat kleine en middelgrote ondernemingen zich ontwikkelen en werk scheppen.

The Lord is God in heaven above and on earth below; there is no other.

IV. Politics and economics in dialogue for full human fulfilment
189. Politics must not submit to economics, which must not submit to the rules and efficiency-oriented paradigm of technocracy. Today, when we think of the common good, we inescapably need politics and economics to work together in dialogue, determined to serve life, especially human life. Bailing out the banks at all costs, and making the people pay the price without the unwavering determination to review and reform the entire system, reaffirms an absolute power of money that has no future and will only create new crises after a long, costly and apparent solution. The financial crisis of 2007-2008 was an opportunity to develop a new economy that is more respectful of ethical principles, and for a new regulation of financial speculation and virtual wealth. But there has been no reaction that has led to a rethink of the obsolete criteria that continue to govern the world. Production is not always rational and it is often linked to economic variables that give products a value that does not always correspond to their real value. This often results in the overproduction of some goods with an unnecessary environmental impact, which at the same time harms many regional economies. A financial bubble is usually also a production bubble. What is not dealt with decisively is ultimately the problem of the real economy, making it possible for production to be diversified and improved, for businesses to function properly and for small and medium-sized enterprises to develop and create jobs.
