Uitnodiging
Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Openingswoord
‘Tel je zegeningen’ wordt wel eens gezegd.
Maar beseffen we ook wat dat betekent?
Want ‘wie’ zegent ons dan, dag na dag?
Wie zullen we daarvoor danken?
Of nemen we het allemaal zomaar als gegeven, zonder meer?
En wat zijn dat dan, échte zegeningen?
Wat doet er écht toe, wat is bijkomstig
en misschien zelfs een hinderpaal voor ons leven?
Het blijken geen eenvoudige vragen.
We horen vandaag hoe Christus ons ervoor plaatst.
Hij stelt ons vragen waarmee we een leven lang
op weg kunnen en mogen gaan,
omdat Hij ons, in zijn liefde, ten volle vrij wil maken.
Laten we ons hart daarvoor openstellen.
EERSTE LEZING Wijsh 7, 7-11
In vergelijking met wijsheid beschouwde ik rijkdom als niets.
Uit het boek Wijsheid
Ik bad en inzicht werd mij geschonken,
ik smeekte en de geest van wijsheid kwam over mij.
Ik verkoos haar boven scepters en tronen,
en in vergelijking met haar
beschouwde ik rijkdom als niets,
zelfs de kostbaarste steen stelde ik met haar niet gelijk,
want alle goud is vergeleken met haar slechts stof,
en zilver niet meer dan slijk.
Ik hield van haar meer dan van gezondheid en schoonheid,
en ik stelde haar boven het licht,
want de glans die zij uitstraalt verbleekt nooit.
Met haar vielen mij alle goederen ten deel
en dankzij haar verwierf ik rijkdommen zonder tal.

Keervers
Verleen ons uw rijkste zegen
en laat ons gelukkig zijn.
Leer ons onze dagen naar waarde te schatten
en zo te komen tot wijsheid van hart.
Laat af, Heer, hoe lang nog pijnigt Gij ons?
wees toch uw dienaars genadig.
Schenk ons in de ochtend volop uw zegen,
dan jubelen wij heel de dag van geluk.
Vergeld nu met vreugde de dagen van leed,
de jaren dat het ons slecht ging.
Laat zien aan uw dienaars waartoe gij in staat zijt
en toon aan hun zonen uw heerlijkheid.
Uw luister, Heer God, moge over ons stralen,
bestuur onze handen bij al wat zij doen.
TWEEDE LEZING Hebr. 4, 12-13
Het woord van God ontleedt de bedoelingen en gedachten van de mens.
Uit de brief aan de Hebreeën
Broeders en zusters,
Het woord van God is levend en krachtig.
Het is scherper dan een tweesnijdend zwaard
en het dringt door tot het raakpunt van ziel en geest,
van gewrichten en merg.
Het ontleedt de bedoelingen en gedachten van de mens.
Geen schepsel is voor Hem verborgen,
alles ligt open en bloot voor zijn ogen.
Aan Hem hebben wij rekenschap af te leggen.

Zalig de armen van geest,
want aan hen behoort het Rijk der hemelen.

EVANGELIE Mc. 10, 17-30 of 17-27
Ga verkopen wat ge bezit, en volg Mij.
Uit het heilig evangelie van onze Heer Jezus Christus volgens
Marcus
Toen Jezus zich weer op weg begaf,
kwam er iemand aanlopen
die zich voor Hem op de knieën wierp en vroeg:
“Goede Meester,
wat moet ik doen om het eeuwig leven te verwerven?”
Jezus antwoordde:
“Waarom noemt ge Mij goed?
“Niemand is goed dan God alleen.
“Ge kent de geboden:
Gij zult niet doden,
gij zult geen echtbreuk plegen,
gij zult niet stelen,
gij zult niet vals getuigen,
gij zult niemand te kort doen,
eer uw vader en uw moeder.”
Maar de ander gaf Jezus ten antwoord:
“Dit alles heb ik onderhouden van mijn jeugd af.”
Toen keek Jezus hem liefdevol aan en sprak:
“Eén ding ontbreekt u:
Ga verkopen wat ge bezit en geef het aan de armen,
daarmee zult ge een schat bezitten in de hemel,
en kom dan terug om Mij te volgen.”
Dit woord ontstelde hem en ontdaan ging hij heen
omdat hij vele goederen bezat.
Toen liet Jezus zijn blik gaan over zijn leerlingen en zei tot hen:
“Hoe moeilijk is het voor degenen die geld hebben,
het Koninkrijk Gods binnen te gaan!”
De leerlingen stonden verbaasd over wat Jezus zei.
Daarom herhaalde Hij:
“Kinderen,
wat is het moeilijk het Koninkrijk Gods binnen te gaan.
“Voor een kameel is het gemakkelijker
door het oog van de naald te gaan
dan voor een rijke in het Koninkrijk Gods te komen.”
Toen waren ze nog meer verbijsterd en ze zeiden tot elkaar:
“Wie kan dan nog gered worden?”
Jezus keek hen aan en zei:
“Dit ligt niet in de macht van mensen maar wel in die van God,
want voor God is alles mogelijk.”
Daarop nam Petrus het woord en zei:
“Zie, wij hebben alles prijsgegeven om U te volgen.”
Jezus antwoordde:
“Voorwaar, Ik zeg u:
er is niemand die huis, broers, zusters,
moeder, vader, kinderen of akkers
om Mij en om de Blijde Boodschap heeft prijsgegeven,
of hij ontvangt nu, in deze tijd, het honderdvoud
aan huizen, broers, moeders, kinderen en akkers,
zij het ook gepaard met vervolgingen,
en in de toekomstige wereld het eeuwig leven.

Twenty-eighth Sunday through the year
Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience this joy by opening his heart
to the healing effect of God’s word.
Available every morning from 7 am
Opening words
Count your blessings’ is sometimes said.
But do we realise what that means?
For ‘who’ blesses us, day after day?
Who shall we thank for that?
Or do we just take it all as a given, without any reason?
And what are they then, real blessings?
What really matters, what is incidental
and perhaps even a hindrance to our lives?
These are not simple questions.
Today we hear how Christ puts us before them.
He asks us questions with which we can and may set out on the road for a lifetime,
because, in His love, He wants to make us fully free.
Let us open our hearts to this.
FIRST READING Wisdom 7, 7-11
Compared to wisdom, I considered wealth as nothing.
From the book of Wisdom
I prayed and insight was given to me,
I pleaded and the spirit of wisdom came upon me.
I preferred it to sceptres and thrones,
and in comparison with her
I considered wealth as nothing,
I did not set even the most precious stone as equal to her,
for all gold is but dust compared with her,
and silver no more than mire.
I loved her more than health and beauty,
and I set her apart from the light,
for the radiance that she radiates never fades.
With her all goods came to me
and through her I acquired wealth without number.

Give us your richest blessing
And let us be happy.
Teach us to value our days
And so come to wisdom of heart.

The word of God is living and powerful.

It dissects the intentions and thoughts of man.
No creature is hidden from Him,
all is open and bare before His eyes.
To Him we are accountable.

When Jesus was going on his way again,
there came a man running
threw himself on his knees and asked:
“Good Teacher!
What must I do to have eternal life?
Jesus answered:
“Why do you call Me good?
“No one is good but God.
“You know the commandments:
Thou shalt not kill,
thou shalt not commit adultery,
thou shalt not steal,
thou shalt not bear false witness,
thou shalt not do wrong anyone,
honour thy father and thy mother.”
But the other answered Jesus:
“All these I have maintained from my youth.”
Then Jesus looked at him lovingly and said:
“One thing you lack:
Go and sell what you have and give it to the poor,
so that you may have treasure in heaven,
and then come back and follow me.”
This word dismayed him and he went away distraught
Because he possessed many goods.
Then Jesus looked at his disciples and said to them:
“How difficult it is for those who have money to enter the Kingdom of God!
The disciples were amazed at what Jesus said.
Therefore He repeated:
“Children,
how hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God!
“It is easier for a camel
to go through the eye of the needle
than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.”
Then they were even more bewildered and they said to one another:
“Who then can be saved?”
Jesus looked at them and said:
“This is not in the power of men but in the power of God,
for to God all things are possible.”
Thereupon Peter took the floor and said:
“Behold, we have given up everything to follow You.”
Jesus replied:
“Verily, I say unto you:
There is no one who has abandoned house, brothers, sisters,
mother, father, children or fields
for My sake and the sake of the Good News,
or he shall receive now, in this time, a hundredfold
of houses, brothers, mothers, children and fields,
be it also accompanied by persecutions,
and in the world to come, eternal life.

83. The final goal of the course of the universe lies in the fullness of God, already attained through Christ, pivotal to universal maturation.
Thus we add another argument for rejecting any despotic and irresponsible domination of the other creatures by the human being. The ultimate goal of the other creatures is not us. On the contrary, all advance together with us and through us towards the common goal that is God, in a transcendent fullness where the risen Christ embraces and illuminates all. For the human being, endowed with intelligence and love and drawn to the fullness of Christ, is called to bring all creatures back to their Creator.
