Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

OVERWEGING
Overweging
Zelfs als zijn liefde miskend wordt, blijft God trouw. Want ook na zijn dood blijft Jezus een bron van goddelijk leven: Er stroomt bloed en water uit zijn zijde. In de sacramenten van het doopsel (water) en de eucharistie (bloed) komt deze levensstroom tot ons: Jezus wil zijn intrek nemen in ons hart om het gelijkvormig te maken aan dat van Hem. Geworteld blijven in de liefde: dat is ook de bede van Paulus. Laten wij dankbaar opzien naar de gekruisigde. Want ook voor ons geldt: de dag is nabij dat ge water zult putten met opgeruimd hart uit de bron van het heil (Js 12,3).
EERSTE LEZING Ez. 34, 11-16
Ik zal mijn schapen weiden, Ik zal ze laten rusten.
Zo spreekt de HEER God:
“Ik zoek mijn kudde op en bezoek mijn eigen schapen.
Zoals een herder omziet naar zijn kudde,
en zich onder zijn schapen begeeft wanneer ze verstrooid zijn,
zo zal Ik omzien naar mijn schapen
en ze in veiligheid brengen, hoe ver ze ook afgedwaald zijn
ten gevolge van mist en nevel.
Ik breng ze bijeen uit alle volken,
en drijf ze samen uit alle landen,
om ze te voeren naar hun eigen grond;
Ik zal ze laten weiden op Israël’s bergen,
in hun eigen dalen en bewoond streken.
Ik zal ze weiden op vette grond,
hoog op de bergen is hun weideland;
daar kunnen ze rusten en grazen
op grasrijke grond en vette weiden,
op de bergen van Israël.
Ik zal mijn schapen weiden, Ik zelf zal ze laten rusten,
spreekt de HEER God.
De verdwaalde schapen ga ik zoeken,
de verstrooide schapen bijeenbrengen,
de gewonde dieren verbinden,
de zwakke weer krachtig maken,
en passen op de gezonde en sterke dieren.
Ik zal ze laten weiden in overvloed.”

TWEEDE LEZING Rom. 5, 5-11
God bewijst zijn liefde voor ons.
Broeders en zusters,
Gods liefde is in ons hart uitgestort
door de heilige Geest die ons werd geschonken.
Want Christus is voor goddelozen gestorven op de gestelde tijd,
toen wij zelf nog geheel hulpeloos waren.
Men zal niet licht iemand vinden
die zijn leven geeft voor een rechtvaardige,
al zou misschien iemand
in een bepaald geval dit van zich kunnen verkrijgen.
God echter bewijst zijn liefde voor ons juist hierdoor,
dat Christus voor ons is gestorven
toen wij nog zondaars waren.
Des te zekerder zullen wij ontkomen aan de toorn
nu wij eenmaal gerechtvaardigd zijn door zijn bloed,
dank zij Hem.
Toen wij vijanden waren,
zijn wij met God verzoend door de dood van zijn Zoon;
des te zekerder zullen wij, eenmaal verzoend,
gered worden door zijn leven.
En dat niet alleen:
Nu reeds juichen wij in God
door Jezus Christus onze Heer
door wie wij de verzoening hebben ontvangen.

EVANGELIE Lc. 15, 3-7
Deelt in mijn vreugde, want mijn schaap dat verloren was, heb ik gevonden.
In die tijd hield Jezus de Farizeeën en de schriftgeleerden
deze gelijkenis voor:
“Wanneer iemand onder u honderd schapen heeft
en er één van verliest,
laat hij dan niet de negenennegentig in de wildernis achter
om op zoek te gaan naar het verlorene
totdat hij het vindt?
En als hij het vindt legt hij het vol vreugde op zijn schouders
en hij gaat naar huis, roept zijn vrienden en buren bij elkaar
en zegt hun:
Deelt in mijn vreugde,
want mijn schaap dat verloren was geraakt heb ik gevonden.
Ik zeg u:
zo zal er in de hemel meer vreugde zijn
over één zondaar die zich bekeert,
dan over negenennegentig rechtvaardigen
die geen bekering nodig hebben.”

Over de zorg voor het gemeenschappelijke huis
92. Anderzijds is, wanneer het hart waarlijk openstaat voor een universele gemeenschap, niets en niemand van die broederschap uitgesloten. Dientengevolge is het ook waar dat onverschilligheid of wreedheid tegen de andere schepsels van deze wereld uiteindelijk altijd op de een of andere manier wordt overgebracht op de behandeling die wij aan andere mensen voorbehouden. Het hart is slechts één kant, en het zal niet lang duren, voordat de ellende die ertoe brengt een dier te mishandelen, wordt ook zichtbaar in de relatie met andere personen. Iedere mishandeling van welk schepsel dan ook “is in strijd met de menselijke waardigheid”. Wij kunnen ons niet beschouwen als mensen die werkelijk liefhebben, als wij een gedeelte van de werkelijkheid buitensluiten. “Vrede, gerechtigheid en behoud van de schepping zijn drie kwesties die nauw met elkaar zijn verbonden, die men nooit zal kunnen scheiden, zodat ze afzonderlijk kunnen worden behandeld, op straffe van opnieuw te vervallen tot reductionisme”. Alles staat in relatie tot elkaar en wij allen, menselijke wezens, zijn verenigd als broeders en zusters in een wonderbaarlijke pelgrimstocht, verbonden door de liefde die God voor elk van zijn schepselen heeft en die ons ook onderling met tedere genegenheid verenigt met zuster zon, broeder maan, broeder rivier en moeder aarde.

Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience this joy by opening his heart
to the healing effect of God’s word.
Available every morning from 7 am
Consideration
Even when his love is misunderstood, God remains faithful. For even after his death, Jesus remains a source of divine life: blood and water flow from his side. In the sacraments of baptism (water) and the Eucharist (blood), this flow of life comes to us: Jesus wants to take up residence in our hearts in order to make them like his. To remain rooted in love: this is also Paul’s plea. Let us thankfully look up to the crucified one. For us too, the day is near when you will draw water from the well of salvation with a cheerful heart (Is 12:3).
FIRST READING Ez 34, 11-16
I will pasture my sheep, I will let them rest.
From the prophet Ezekiel
Thus speaks the LORD God:
“I will search out my flock and visit my own sheep.
Just as a shepherd looks after his flock,
and goes among his sheep when they are scattered,
I will look after my sheep
and will bring them to safety, however far they may have wandered
in the midst of fog and mist.
I will gather them together out of all nations,
and drive them together out of all nations,
to lead them to their own land;
I will cause them to graze on Israel’s mountains,

God demonstrates his love for us.
From the letter of the holy apostle Pualus to the Christians of Rome
Brothers and Sisters,
God’s love has been poured out in our hearts
through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
For Christ died for the wicked at the appointed time,
while we ourselves were still completely helpless.
It is not easy to find someone
who gives his life for a righteous man,
though perhaps someone
in a particular case.
God, however, proves his love for us precisely by this,
that Christ died for us
while we were still sinners.
The more surely we shall escape the wrath once we are justified by his blood,
thanks to Him.
When we were enemies,
we have been reconciled to Good through the death of His Son;
the more surely shall we, being reconciled,
we will be saved by his life.
And not only that:
Already now we rejoice in God
through Jesus Christ our Lord
through whom we have received reconciliation.

92. On the other hand, when the heart is truly open to universal communion, nothing and no one is excluded from that brotherhood. Consequently, it is also true that indifference or cruelty to the other creatures of this world is always ultimately transferred in one way or another to the treatment we reserve for others. The heart is only one side, and it will not be long before the misery that leads one to mistreat an animal also becomes visible in one’s relationship with other persons. Any mistreatment of any creature “is contrary to human dignity”.We cannot consider ourselves to be people who truly love if we exclude a part of reality. “Peace, justice and the preservation of creation are three issues which are intimately linked, and which it will never be possible to separate, so that they can be dealt with separately, on pain of lapsing back into reductionism”. Everything is in relation to each other and all of us, human beings, are united as brothers and sisters in a wonderful pilgrimage, united by the love that God has for each of his creatures and which also unites us with tender affection to sister sun, brother moon, brother river and mother earth.
