Invitation

May I draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel

This invitation wants to share with you the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, without exception
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of the Word of God.

Available every day

Consideration
The disciples return from their mission and gather again around their teacher. They recount their experiences, their thoughts, their reactions to what they encountered and who they met. Two key insights are drawn from the Gospel. The first is a habit that we can also establish in our lives, briefly reviewing the day in the evening and submitting it to Jesus. The second is that we should seek rest, solitude and quiet. How much time do we set aside in a day, in a week?

FIRST READING                            1 Kings 3:4-13

Give your servant an observant spirit,
To be able to speak justice for your people.

From the first book of Kings

In those days King Solomon went to Gibeon
to sacrifice there
for that was the chief altar of sacrifice.
Solomon dedicated a thousand burnt offerings on this altar.
In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night.
in a dream to Solomon and said to him:
“What do you want me to give you?”
Solomon replied :
“You have shown great favour to Your servant, my lord David.
“Since he has turned his steps towards You,
faithful, upright and honest towards you,
thou hast given him a son, who now sits on his throne.
“Well done, O Lord my God,
You have raised up Your servant to be king
as successor to my father David,
though I am but a youth
and I do not yet know what I ought to do or what I ought not to do.
“So is your servant in the midst of the people
whom you have chosen
a great people, so great
that they cannot be numbered or numbered.
“So give Your servant an observant spirit ,
so that he may speak rightly before your people
and that he may be able to distinguish between good and evil.
“For who is able to speak justly
before this great people of yours?”
This request of Solomon pleased the Lord.
And God said to him :
“Because you have asked this very thing
and have not asked for long life
nor riches
nor the death of your enemies
but because you have asked
that you may speak justly,
therefore I grant your request
and I will give you a mind full of wisdom and understanding,
such as no one before you has had
nor will anyone have after you.
“And also what you have not asked for I give you :
riches and prestige, so much so
that no king will equal you as long as you live”.

INTERLUDIUM                              Ps. 119(118), 9-10, 11-12, 13-14

Teach me, O LORD, to know your ways.

How does one keep intact the way from childhood?
By heeding your word.
With my whole heart I turn to you:
Let me not turn aside from Your commandments.

I keep Your sayings in the depths of my heart
That I may not do evil against You.
You are worthy of praise, O Lord,
teach me Your decrees.

My lips proclaim all things
What Your mouth determines.
My joy I find in what You command,
Which is my richest possession.

ALLELUIA                       cf. Acts 16:14b

Alleluia.
Make our hearts receptive, O Lord, and let us turn to the word of God.
and turn us to the word of your Son.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL                          Mk 6, 30-34

They were like sheep without a shepherd.

From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Mark

In those days, the apostles met with Jesus
and reported to him
all that they had done and taught.

Then He spoke to them:
“Now come you yourselves
to a lonely place
and rest there for a little while.
Because of the many people coming and going, they did not even have time to eat.
they did not even have time to eat.

So they went away in the boat to a lonely place to be alone.
to be alone.
But many saw them leaving and understood where he was going;
From all the cities people were coming on foot
and they came before them.

When Jesus disembarked,
he saw a great multitude.
He had compassion on them,
because they were like sheep without a shepherd;
and he began to teach them at length.

Encyclic of

POPE FRANCIS

On Care for the Common Home

186. The 1992 Rio Declaration states that “where there are threats of serious or irreversible damage, lack of full scientific certainty shall not be a reason for delaying the implementation of effective measures “2 to prevent environmental degradation. This precautionary principle makes it possible to protect the weakest, who have few means at their disposal to defend themselves and to provide irrefutable evidence. If objective information leads to the prediction of serious and irreversible damage, even in the absence of irrefutable evidence, any project must be stopped or modified. The burden of proof is thus reversed, as in such cases it is necessary to provide objective and conclusive evidence that the proposed activity will not cause serious harm to the environment and all those living in it.
