This invitation wishes to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every day.
Consideration
The short letter of Jude is particularly harsh on unbelievers, on all those who adhere to wrong doctrine as well as those who exhibit morally reprehensible behaviour. The only reference to live a life in faithfulness to God is the gospel of the apostles, is falling back on tradition. Truth is not made continuous, one receives it.
That does not mean it is enough to repeat the words of the past, plain and simple. It is in those faithfully preserved words that truth is to be found. It is up to us to translate these words, without betraying them, to proclaim eternal truth in the language of today.
FIRST READING Jude 17. 20b-25
God is able to keep you from stumbling
and to make you appear
appear before his glory.
From the letter of the holy apostle Jude
Brothers and sisters,
Remember
what was prophesied by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Build your lives on your highly holy faith,
pray in the power of the Holy Spirit,
keep yourselves in God’s love,
awaiting the mercy
Of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who will grant you eternal life.
Have mercy on some who doubt
and seek to save them by snatching them from the fire.
With others, however, your pity should be mixed with fear
and with disgust even for their garment stained by sin.
To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling
and to appear blameless and joyful
before his glory,
to the only God who saves us through Jesus Christ our Lord
be glory, majesty,
strength and power,
before all eternity
and now and for all eternity!
Amen.
Interludium Ps. 63(62), 2, 3-4, 5-6
God, I seek Thee with great longing.
God, my God, be Thou,
I seek Thee with great desire.
To Thee my soul thirsts and my heart yearns
Like barren fields for rain.
Thus I look up to the place where Thou dost dwell,
I contemplate Thy power and Thy glory.
More worthy than life is Thy mercy to me,
my mouth proclaims Thy praise.
I will praise Thee as long as I live,
stretch out my hands to Thee.
My soul will be satiated with nourishing food,
my mouth shall thank Thee jubilantly.
ALLELUIA Hebr. 4, 12
Alleluia.
The word of God is alive and powerful,
and it penetrates to the fulcrum of soul and spirit.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mk. 11, 27-33
What authority hast Thou to do all this ?
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Mark
At that time
Jesus came to Jerusalem with His disciples.
As He walked around in the temple square,
the high priests,
scribes and elders approached Him
and they asked Him :
“What authority hast Thou to do all this?
“And who then gave Thee authority to do this?”
Jesus replied :
“I will ask thee a single question
and if thou answerst Me to it ,
I in turn will tell thee
under what authority I do all this.
“The baptism of John ,
did that come from heaven or from men?
“Give Me an answer to that.”
They deliberated among themselves :
“If we say : from heaven, He will answer :
Why then hast thou not given him faith ?
“But do we say : from men?…”
They were afraid of the people
for everyone held John to be a prophet.
So they answered Jesus :
“We do not know.”
Then Jesus said to them :
“Then neither do I tell you
by virtue of what authority I act thus.”

TO ALL PEOPLE
OF GOOD WILL
56. We must leave behind the mentality that we seem to be concerned about the
problem but lack the necessary courage to bring about substantial changes
bring about. We know that at this rate we will exceed the maximum recommended limit of
of 1.5° C will be exceeded and even reach 3° C shortly thereafter, with a high risk
that we will end up at a critical point. Even if we do not reach this point of no return, it is
certain that the consequences would be catastrophic and precipitous measures would
have to be taken, at enormous cost and with serious and unbearable
economic and social consequences. Although the measures we can take now
are costly, the costs will be much higher the longer we wait.
