Invitation
May I draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel
This invitation seeks to convey the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, without exception
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every day.
Consideration
We see that two parties are facing each other and the discussion is heated. The positions are certainly extreme. Then the authority speaks. Not to simply decide, but to bring the parties together and they listen in silence. Peter refers to his own experience with Cornelius. God himself has set the direction. Can God be resisted? Then James, the stern apostle, speaks. He points in the direction of a very acceptable compromise: no unnecessary burden. Everyone agrees.
FIRST READING Acts 15:7-21
I believe that no unnecessary burden should be imposed on those who convert to God from paganism.
From the Acts of the Apostles
In those days, after much back and forth about circumcision
about circumcision, Peter took the floor
and spoke to the apostles and elders:
“Men and brethren
you know that God chose me among you long ago ,
that through my mouth to the Gentiles
the word of the gospel
and accept faith.
“Now then,
God, who knows hearts ,
has spoken through them
by communicating the Holy Spirit to them
just as He has done with us
and has in no way
distinguished between us and them,
but has cleansed their hearts by faith.
“Why then do you now defy God by
imposing on the disciples a yoke
which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?
“On the contrary,
like them, we too believe
to be saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus.”
The whole assembly was silent
and listened to Barnabas and Paul
who told of the great miraculous signs
that God had done through them among the Gentiles.
When they had finished speaking
james took the floor and spoke:
“Brethren ,
listen to me.
“Simeon has explained to us
how God once looked down graciously
and chose a people from among the Gentiles.
“On this the words of the prophets agree,
as it is written:
Then I will return
and I will rebuild the ruined house of David.
Yes, I will rebuild its ruins
and I will restore them completely
so that the rest of the people will seek the Lord
along with all the Gentiles
to whom my name has been proclaimed.
“Thus speaks the Lord who does these things :
from eternity they have been known.
“Therefore I believe
that no unnecessary burdens should be imposed
on those who convert from paganism to God ,
but that it should be prescribed to them
to abstain from what has been defiled by idols ,
from fornication,
and from that which is strangled, and from blood.
“For of old Moses had in every city a people
who read to him and preached to him in the synagogue on the Sabbath”
INTERLUDIUM Ps 96(95), 1-2a, 2b-3, 10
Proclaim to the nations the glory of the Lord.
or: Alleluia.
Sing to the Lord a new song,
sing to the Lord, all nations.
Sing to the Lord and glorify His name.
Proclaim his salvation every day.
Tell the nations of his glory,
his wonderful works to all nations.
Say to one another, The Lord reigns!
Unshakably He created the earth,
he rules the nations in righteousness.
ALLUIA Lk. 24, 46
Alleluia.
Christ had to suffer and die
and rise from the dead
and thus enter his glory.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Jn 15:9-11
Abide in my love, so that your joy may be complete.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
John
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:
“As the Father has loved Me
so I have loved you.
“Abide in my love.
“If you keep my commandments
you will abide in my love
as I, having kept my Father’s commandments, abide in his love
i abide in his love.
“This I tell you
that my joy may be in you
and your joy may be made perfect

On brotherhood and social friendship
Call
285. In that fraternal meeting, which I remember with joy
with the Great Imam Ahmad Al Tayyeb “we firmly declared that religions never incite
religions never incite war or arouse feelings of hatred, enmity and extremism, nor invite violence and bloodshed. These catastrophes result from the misuse of religious teachings, the political use of religions and the
of religious teachings, of the political use of religions and also of the interpretations of groups of people of a religion that are
of groups of people of a religion that – in some periods of history – the influence of their
history – abused the influence of sentiment in the hearts of the people
on the hearts of the people […]. Because God, the Almighty, does not need to be
to be defended by no one and does not want his name to be used to terrorise people
to terrorise people. Therefore, I want to repeat here the call for
peace, justice and brotherhood that we have done together
that we have done together:
“In the name of God, who created all men equal in rights, duties and dignity, and called them to live as brothers and sisters
in rights, duties and dignity, and has called them to live as brothers and sisters of one another, to live together for peace, justice and brotherhood
and sisters of each other to live together to populate the earth and instil in it the values of goodness, love and brotherhood
the values of goodness, love and peace.
In the name of the innocent human soul, whom God has forbidden to kill, saying
to kill, saying that whoever kills one human being is as if he has killed all mankind
has killed, and whoever saves one is as if he has saved all mankind
saved.
On behalf of the poor, the wretched, the needy and the marginalised,
whom God has commanded to help as a duty of all men and especially of every man
all men and especially of every rich and prosperous man
rich and prosperous man.
For the orphans, widows, refugees and those driven from home and hearth; for all
of all victims of war, of persecution, of the weak, of those living in the
for the weak, for those who live in fear, for prisoners of war and martyrs in all parts of the world
prisoners of war and martyrs all over the world,
without distinction.
On behalf of the peoples who have lost security, peace and coexistence
have lost coexistence and fallen victim to destruction, devastation and war.
In the name of the human brotherhood that includes, unites and makes equal all peoples
unites them and makes them equal.
In the name of this brotherhood, torn apart by a policy of
of integrism and division and systems of immoderate profit and by
terrible ideological tendencies that manipulate people’s activities and destinies
manipulate.
In the name of the freedom that God has given to all men by creating them free and allowing them to live in freedom
given by making them free and therefore setting them apart.
In the name of justice and mercy, the foundations of prosperity and the cornerstones of faith
of prosperity and the cornerstones of faith.
In the name of all people of good will, present in every corner of the earth
the earth.
In the name of God and of all this […] [we] [declare] that we are committed to the culture of
dialogue as a way, common cooperation
as a rule of conduct, mutual knowledge as a method and criterion
criterion.
