Consideration
During this period, a lot of people leave on holiday.
With a full purse, a well-stocked travel bag
and sturdy walking shoes, they set off
to get to know new places and relax for a while.
Jesus’ disciples also go on the road.
They are sent to spread the Good News
and bring peace to all the people they meet.
In this hour, Jesus wants to give us new strength.
He also chooses us to bring peace in his name
in a world torn apart by conflict and violence.
FIRST READING Isa 66:10-14c
Like a river, I lead peace to it.
Rejoice with Jerusalem, and rejoice over her,
all who love her!
Take part in her joy!
all who mourn over her!
And be satiated
suckle at her breasts full of comfort,
and feast your eyes
at her bosom so rich.
For thus speaks the LORD:
“Like a river I lead peace to her,
and like a turbulent stream the treasures of the nations.
Thou shalt be suckled,
carried on the arm,
coddled in the lap!
As a mother comforts her child,
so will I comfort thee:
Jerusalem itself shall be thy comfort.
When thou seest it
thy heart shall rejoice,
thy bones shall flourish like the young green,
and the servants of the Lord
shall experience his power!”
Responsorial Ps 66(65) 1-3b, 4-5, 6-7b, 16 and 20
Refrain
Rejoice before God, all the earth.
Rejoice before God, all the nations of the earth,
sing to the glory of His Name.
Bring Him your homage and say to your God:
Astonishing are all your deeds.
All the earth should worship Thee,
chant Your holy Name.
Come and behold what God has done,
staggering deeds among men.
He made the sea a dry valley,
they passed through the bed on foot.
Let us rejoice for joy for Him
who reigns forever by His power.
Come then, God-fearers, listen to me,
i will tell you what He has done to me.
God be praised, He did not reject me,
did not withhold His mercy from me.
SECOND READING Gal 6:14-18
I bear the marks of Jesus in my body.
Brothers and sisters,
God keep me from boasting on anything else
than on the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by which the world has been crucified to me
and I for the world.
Being circumcised means nothing,
and being uncircumcised means nothing.
It is only about being a new creation!
Peace and mercy come to all
who want to live according to this principle,
and on all the people of God!
From now on, let no one bother me
for I bear the marks of Jesus in my body.
Brothers and sisters,
the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Amen.
Verse for the gospel Col 3, 15a.16a
Alleluia.
Let the peace of Christ reign in your hearts,
may the word of Christ
dwell among you in full riches.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Lk. 10:1-12,17-20
Your peace will rest on them.
At that time the Lord appointed seventy-two disciples
and sent them before him two by two
to all the cities and places
whither He Himself intended to go.
He spoke to them:
“The harvest is great ,
but labourers are few.
Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest
to send labourers to harvest.
Go then,
but behold, I send you as lambs among wolves.
Take with you no purse, no travelling bag, no footwear
and greet no one on the way.
Into whatever house you enter, let your first word be:
Peace to this house!
Dwell there a peaceable man,
then your peace will rest on him;
if not, it will return to you.
Stay in that house and eat and drink what they offer you;
for the labourer is worth his wages.
Do not go from one house to another.
In every city where ye enter and are received,
eat what is set before you,
heal the sick who are there
and say unto them, The kingdom of God is at hand.”
In every city you enter and are not received, walk the streets there and say:
Even the dust from your city that clings to our feet we shake off against you.
But know this: the kingdom of God is near.
“I say to you:
That day it will be more bearable for the people of Sodom than for that city.”
The seventy-two returned full of joy and said:
“Lord, even the devils submit to us through your name.”
He said to them:
“I saw Satan falling from heaven like a thunderbolt. I have given you power
to tread on serpents and scorpions,
to rule over all the power of the enemy;
and nothing will be able to harm you.
Yet you must not rejoice at the fact
that the devils are subject to thee,
but rejoice
because your names are recorded in heaven”.

Encyclical of
POPE FRANCISCUS
On caring for the common home
The decline in the quality of human life and
social decline
43. If we take into account the fact that a human being is a
creature of this world, who has a right to live and be happy,
as well as having a special dignity, we cannot
fail to consider the effects of environmental degradation, of the current
development model and of the disposable culture on life to consider.
