May I hereby call your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with you the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening his heart
to the healing power of God’s word.

Considerations
The first cycle from Genesis concludes with a reading from Hebrews, where the faith of the ancients is praised. The series continues beyond the reading. A host of names from the old Covenant are mentioned. All looked forward to a better future and fulfillment. The Christian, too, lives by that expectation every day.
FIRST READING Heb. 11, 1-7
Faith makes us see
that the universe was created by God’s word.
From the letter to the Hebrews
Brothers and sisters,
What is faith?
Faith is a firm ground of what we hope for,
it convinces us of the reality of unseen things.
For their faith the ancients were mentioned with honor.
Faith makes us see
that the universe came into being through God’s word,
and that the visible came into being from the invisible.
By faith, Abel’s sacrifice was so much better than Cain’s
by faith
he received the testimony of his righteousness
for God himself accepted his gifts ;
by faith he continues to speak even after his death.
By faith Enoch was transferred without dying
transferred to another life ;
he was no longer there, for God had included him.
For the Scriptures testify that before he was taken away ,
he had pleased God;
and without faith it is impossible to please God ;
whoever wishes to come to God must believe that He exists
and that He rewards all who seek Him.
By faith Noah,
having been warned by God of what could not yet be seen,
with great care built the ark
to save his household.
By his faith he condemned the world
and himself acquired the righteousness of faith.

You I want to praise, my God and King,

Jesus was transformed before their eyes.
From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Mark
At that time
Jesus took Peter, James and John with him
and brought them to the top of a high mountain
Where they were completely alone.
He was transformed before their eyes :
His garment became shining
and as white as no fuller in the world can make it.
Elijah appeared to them with Moses
and they conversed with Jesus.
Peter took the floor and said to Jesus :
“Rabbi, it is good that we are here.
“Let us build three tents,
one for You, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
He didn’t quite know what he was saying,
for they were completely astonished.
A cloud came to overshadow them
and out of that cloud sounded a voice :
“This is my Son,
the Beloved One,
listen to Him.”
When they looked around ,
they suddenly saw no one else with them but Jesus.
While descending the mountain
Jesus forbade them to tell anyone what they had seen,
before the Son of Man would have risen from the dead.
Indeed, they kept it to themselves,
though they wondered among themselves
what that rising from the dead might mean.
To Jesus they asked the question :
“Why do the scribes still say
that Elijah must come first?”
He answered them :
“Elijah comes first to restore everything.
“But what is written about the Son of Man?
“That He will suffer much and be despised.
“But I say to you : Elijah has already come
and they have dealt with him at will
as it is written about him.”

85. God has written a magnificent book “whose letters are the multitude of creatures present in the universe.” The Bishops of Canada have expressed well that no creature is outside this manifestation of God: “From the widest panoramas to the faintest forms of life, nature is a constant source of wonder and reverence. She is, moreover, a constant revelation of the divine.” For their part, the bishops of Japan have said something very suggestive: “To perceive every creature singing the hymn of its existence is to live with joy in the love of God and hope.” This contemplation of creation allows us to discover through each thing a teaching that God wants to communicate to us, because “for a believer, looking at creation is also listening to a message, hearing a paradoxical and silent voice.” We can say that “in addition to the actual revelation contained in Holy Scripture, there is therefore a divine manifestation in the shining of the sun and the falling of the night.” When the human being pays attention to this manifestation, it learns to recognize itself in relation to the other creatures: “I express myself, when I express the world; I examine my sacredness, when I decipher that of the world.”
