Invitation
May I hereby call your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening his heart
to the healing effect of God’s word.
Available every day.
Consideration
In each of the four Gospels, Jesus appears to the group of disciples. It is not so easy to think the resurrection; even his own disciples, who witness it all up close, have doubts. Jesus’ appearances are meant to convince them again and again, but from now on they also take on an additional dimension, that of the mission of his disciples. Around word and bread, they will gather people; people who are amazed, people who doubt, people who hope or despair. Thus the young Church will go on its way, listening to the Scriptures and gathering around bread and cup. In her midst, time and again, the Lord will come and greet her, “Peace be with you. As today.
FIRST READING Acts 3, 11-26
The prince of life you have killed. God, however, raised Him from the dead.
From the Acts of the Apostles
In those days, when the lame man who had been healed
clung to Peter and John,
all the people crowded around them in amazement
in the Colonnade of Solomon.
When Peter saw this he addressed the word to the people :
“Men of Israel,
why do you marvel at this,
and why do you stare at us
as if we, by our own power or piety
made this man walk?
“The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
the God of our fathers
has glorified his servant Jesus,
whom you have delivered up
and denied before Pilate
though he had judged that he should
Him to be set at liberty.
“But thou hast denied the Holy One and the Just and True.
And as a favor asked the release of a murderer.
“The Prince of Life, on the other hand, ye have slain.
“Yet God raised Him from the dead ;
of this we are witnesses.
“Because of faith in his Name.
His Name hath given strength again
to this man, whom you see and know.
“The faith
granted by Him,
has given the man that flawlessness of limb
in the sight of all of you.
“But I know, brethren,
that ye have acted in ignorance,
as have your governments.
“But what God had heralded before
by the mouth of all the prophets,
– that his Messiah would die, –
He has thus fulfilled.
“Repent ye, therefore, and be penitent,
that your sins may be blotted out,
and that there may come from the Lord
times of refreshing
and send you Jesus
who was predestined for you as Messiah.
“Heaven was to receive Him
until the time of the restoration of all things ,
of which God has spoken
through his holy prophets since ancient times.
“Surely Moses has said :
A prophet like me
the Lord our God will raise up for you
from among your brothers.
“To Him you must listen
in all that he will say to you,
and anyone who does not listen to that prophet
shall be cut off from the people.
“And all the prophets,
all who have spoken since Samuel and his successors,
have also prophesied these days.
“Ye are the sons of the prophets
and of the covenant which God made with your fathers,
when He said unto Abraham :
In thy seed
shall all the generations of the earth be blessed.
“For you in the first place
God has raised up his servant,
and sent Him to bless you
by turning each one of you from his wickedness.”
INTERLUDIUM Ps. 8, 2a, 5, 6-7, 8-9
Lord, our Lord,
how awesome is your Name on earth!
Alleluia.
Lord, our Lord,
how awesome is your Name on earth!
Ah, what is man then, that Thou dost look upon him,
the child of man, that Thou dost care for him so?
Not less than an angel hast Thou created him,
clothed him in beauty and splendor;
subjected all thy creation to him,
all things laid at his feet :
Cattle and sheep everywhere,
even the wild beasts of the fields ;
birds in the air and fish in the sea,
all that teems in the oceans.
ALLELUIA Ps. 118(117), 24
Alleluia.
This is the day, which the Lord has made,
we will celebrate it in gladness.
Alleluia.
SEQUENCE
Let us praise the Lamb of Easter,
honour the Lamb of God with sacrifice.
Yes the Lamb saves the sheep,
Christ through his innocence
us poor sinners to the Father.
Death and life, oh miracle,
must fight together.
Who died, He lives, He is our King.
Tell us, Mary,
what is it you have seen?
Christ’s tomb, which was empty,
the glory of Him who rose again,
angels as witnesses,
the sweatshirt and the shroud.
My hope, my Christ alive!
Behold He goeth before thee into Galilee.
Truly Christ is risen : Rose from the dead.
O King, our Hero, give us peace. Alleluia.
GOSPEL Lk. 24, 35-48
Thus Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead on the third day.
From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Luke
At that time the disciples told what had happened on the way
and how Jesus was recognized by them
by the breaking of the bread.
While they were talking about this
He Himself suddenly stood in their midst
and said :
“Peace be unto you.”
In their bewilderment and terror they thought they saw a spirit.
But He spoke to them :
“Why are you dismayed
and why do doubts arise in your hearts?
“Look at my hands and feet :
It is I Myself.
“Touch Me and see :
A spirit has no flesh and bones
as ye see that I have.”
And having thus spoken
He showed them his hands and feet.
When they could not believe it for joy and amazement
He said to them :
“Do you have anything to eat here?”
They reached out to Him a piece of roasted fish ;
He took it and ate it before their eyes.
He spoke to them :
“These are my words,
which I spoke to you while I was with you:
All things must be fulfilled
what is written about Me in the Law of Moses,
in the prophets and in the psalms.”
Then He made their minds accessible
to understanding the scriptures.
He told them :
“Thus the Scriptures speak of the suffering and death of the Messiah
and of his resurrection from the dead on the third day,
about the proclamation among all nations,
of the repentance and forgiveness of sins in his name.
“Beginning with Jerusalem, you are to bear witness to all this.
“Therefore I send unto you that which is promised by my Father ;
so stay in the city
until thou shalt be equipped with power from on high.”
Now He led them out as far as Betania ;
He lifted up his hands and blessed them.
And while He was blessing them He removed Himself from them
and He was taken up to heaven.
They worshiped him
and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
They were continually in the temple
and they glorified God.

Ecology of environment, economy and society
138. Ecology studies the relationships between living organisms and the environment in which they develop. It also requires standing still to reflect and discuss the conditions of life and survival of a society, having the honesty to question models of development, production and consumption. It is not superfluous to insist once again that everything is interconnected. Time and space are not independent of each other, nor can atoms and subatomic particles be seen separately. Just as the various – physical, chemical and biological – components of the planet are interrelated, so too the living species form a net that we will never definitively know and understand. Much of our genetic information is shared with many living things. Therefore, fragmentary and isolated knowledge can become a form of ignorance if it resists being integrated into a broader vision of reality.
