Invitation

May I draw your attention to
The daily reading of the Gospel

This invitation seeks to convey the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, without except
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of the Word of God.

Available every day

Opening Word
We closed our homes again
and left them behind for a while
to enter this house.
Here we enter
waiting for God to enter with us.
May He give us His key here,
the key of Jesus Christ,
a key to keeping our hearts open
and also to build the world
build it into a place of peace and love.
May that key of the Lord now open our hearts
to his power and grace.

FIRST READING                Isa 22:19-23

I will put the key to the house of David on his shoulder.

From the prophet Isaiah

Thus the Lord speaks to Shebna, the ruler of the palace:

“I will drive you from your post
and I will expel you from your office.
“And then I will expel my servant
Eljakim, son of Chilkiah,
and I will clothe him with your robe,
and I will adorn him with your girdle
and I will give him thy task in thy hands.
“He will be a father
to the inhabitants of Jerusalem
and to the house of Judah.
“The key of the House of David
I will put it on his shoulder,
and when he opens, no one will close,
and if he closes, no one will open.
“I will put it
as a nail in a firm place
and he will be a place of honor
for his father’s house.

Responsorial   Psalm 138(137), 1-2a, 2bc-3, 6 and 8bc

Refrain
Your goodness, O Lord, knows no end.

I want to praise you, O Lord, with all my heart,
for you have answered my prayer.
Amid the angels I sing to you
and I bow down, bowed down before Your temple.

I praise Thee for Thy goodness and Thy faithfulness,
for above Thy glory Thou hast kept Thy word.
Hear me every day that I call upon Thee,
for Thou givest me new strength.

The Lord is the exalted One who watches over the humble
but looks down from above on the proud.
Your goodness, O Lord, knows no end:
forget not the work of thy hands.

SECOND READING         Rom 11:33-36

Out of him and through him and to him are all things.

From the letter of the holy apostle Paul to the Christians of Rome

O unfathomable riches of God’s wisdom and knowledge!
How unfathomable are his decisions
unfathomable are his ways.
Who knows the thoughts of the Lord?
Who has been his counselor?
Who can claim a reward
for what he has given to God?
For from Him, through Him, and to Him
are all things.
To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Gospel verse   Mt 16:18

Alleluia.
You are Peter
and on this rock, I will build my church
and the gates of hell will not overwhelm it.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL           Mt 16:13-20

You are Peter and to you I will give the keys of the kingdom of heaven.

From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Matthew

At that time Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi
and put this question to his disciples
“Who is the Son of Man, according to the opinion of men?”

They replied
“Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah,
others Jeremiah or one of the prophets”.

“But you,” He spoke to them, “who do you say that I am?”

Simon Peter replied:
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”.

Jesus continued:
“Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah,
for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you
but my Father in heaven.
“In turn, I say to you:
You are Peter
and on this rock, I will build my church
and the gates of hell will not be able to overcome her.
“I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven
and what you bind on earth
will also be bound in heaven
and what you dissolve on earth
will also be resolved in heaven”.

Then He strongly forbade His disciples
to tell anyone that He was the Christ.

On caring for our common home
The issue of water

27. Other indicators of the current situation related to the depletion of natural resources. We are well aware that it is impossible to maintain current levels of consumption in the most developed countries and in the richest sectors of society, where the habit of waste and profligacy reaches unprecedented levels. Certain extreme limits of exploitation of the planet have already been crossed, without solving the problem of poverty.
