May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?

This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.

Available every day

Consideration

While praying, it dawns on me that I am connected to God, loved by Him, in His hands, even when I encounter darkness and resistance. Disconcerting is this love, a near nothingness, a gossamer thread through the darkness. And I know it can slip away from me if I neglect that one hour I was asked to keep vigil so as not to fall into temptation. That is why I, along with a lot of spiritual masters from other religious traditions of humanity, believe that we must persevere in prayer. I must pray without expecting anything in return.

FIRST READING                  2 Sam 5, 1-7.10

Thou shalt pasture my people Israel.

From the second Book of Samuel

In those days
all the tribes of Israel went to David at Hebron
and said :
“Here are we, your own flesh and blood.
“Before, when Saul still reigned over us ,
it was you who led the troops of Israel.
“Moreover, the Lord has assured you :
Thou shalt pasture my people Israel :
It is thou who shalt rule over Israel.”
All the elders of Israel came to the king in Hebron
and King David made a covenant with them there
before the Lord ;
they anointed David king over Israel.
David was thirty years old when he became king
and he reigned for forty years.
In Hebron he reigned seven years and six months over Judah
and in Jerusalem thirty-three years
over all Israel and Judah.

The king and his men marched up to Jerusalem
against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the region.
These called out to David :
“Here you shall not enter!
“Verily, the blind and the lame stop you.”
They meant : David never enters here.
Yet David conquered the fortress of Zion, the city of David.
And David’s power increased more and more :
the Lord, the God of heavenly powers stood by him.

INTERLUDIUM                Ps 89(88), 20, 21-22, 25-26

My faithfulness and my mercy guide him.

Once thou didst appear to thy prophet
And revealed Thou Thy decree :
A strong man have I given the throne,
a chosen one taken from among the people.

My servant David have I sought
and anointed him with my consecrated oil;
as a sign that my hand will always support him
and that my arm will give him strength.

My faithfulness and My mercy will guide him,
My Name will grant him blessing.
His hand I will let him lay on the sea,
his right to the streams in the east.

ALLELUIA                      Ps. 119(118), 34

Alleluia.
Give me understanding to observe your law, Lord,
to follow it with all my heart.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL                        Mk. 3, 22-30

When Satan is divided, then his end has come.

From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark

In those days the scribes said of Jesus
That Beelzebub dwelt in Him
and that through the prince of devils He was
drove out the devils.
Jesus called them to Himself and spoke to them in parables :
“How can one Satan cast out another?
“When an empire is inwardly divided
that kingdom cannot stand.
“When a house is inwardly divided
that house will not be able to stand.
“And when Satan rises up against himself and is divided,
he cannot stand, but his end has come.
“Moreover,
no one can enter the house of a strong one
to rob his household goods
if he has not first bound that strong one.
“Only then can he empty his house.
“Verily, I say unto you :
all sins will be forgiven to men ,
even all blasphemies they have uttered,
but if anyone blasphemes against the Holy Spirit
he receives no forgiveness in eternity ;
he is encumbered with an everlasting sin.”
This because they had said :
there is an unclean spirit dwelling in Him.

Laudato Si

Encyclic by

POPE FRANCIS-

On the care of the common home

174. We also mention the system of ocean governance. After all, although there have been several international and regional conventions, fragmentation and the absence of strict regulatory, monitoring and sanctioning systems ultimately undermine all efforts of force. The growing problem of marine waste and the protection of not only national borders but also marine areas remains a particular challenge. Ultimately, we need an agreement on management arrangements for the whole range of so-called global common goods.
