Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share the joy of the Gospel with you.
Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every morning from 7am.
Opening Word
As human beings, we live from day to day.
Some days are quite ordinary.
But sometimes our minds are burdened.
Too much pressure, setbacks or illness
can upset us.
In all our needs, we may turn to the Lord.
He is healing and close to people.
We can find strength and courage
in prayer to God.
FIRST READING Job 7, 1-4,6-7
For nights I lie in agony;
From the book of Job
Job spoke:
“Should not man toil on earth,
make days of a day-labourer?
“He longs for shade,
looks longingly for payment.
“Thus I know the fruitless months
and long nights of worry.
“At night I think: when is tomorrow?
And in the morning: when will the evening come?
“And as long as it is light, I am sick with restlessness.
“My days fade faster than a weaver’s bobbin,
they run out, the thread is at an end.
“Remember that my life is a breath,
That my eyes will see no more happiness.”
Responsorial Ps. 147(146), 1-2, 3-4, 5-6
Refrain
Praise the Lord, who heals broken hearts.
Now praise the Lord, it is good to praise him,
Praise our God, all praise be to Him.
The Lord builds up the city of Jerusalem,
gathers Israel from the scattering.
Broken hearts He heals again,
He heals all bleeding wounds.
He who knows the number of stars
And calls each by its name.
Exalted is He, our Lord, and all-powerful,
His wisdom is boundless.
The Lord exalts the humiliated
But sinners He casts to the earth.
SECOND READING 1 Cor. 9:16-19,22-23
Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!
From the holy apostle Paul’s first letter to the
Christians of Corinth
Brothers and sisters,
That I preach the gospel is no reason for me to boast of it:
I cannot do otherwise.
Woe is me if I do not proclaim the gospel!
If I did it of my own accord, I would be entitled to wages;
But it’s not like that:
it is a task entrusted to me.
What then is my merit?
That I preach the gospel free of charge
and do not avail myself of the right attached to preaching.
Independent of everything, I have enslaved myself to everyone
to win as many people to Christ as possible.
With the weak, I have become weak
To win the weak.
I am all for all
To save some at any cost.
And I do everything for the gospel
To share in it myself.
Verse for the gospel Mt 8:17
Alleluia.
He has taken on our weaknesses
And our diseases He has borne.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mk 1:29-39
Many who suffered from all kinds of diseases, He healed.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Mark
In those days when Jesus came out of the synagogue ,
He went with James and John
to the house of Simon and Andrew.
Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever;
they immediately spoke to Him about her.
He went to her,
He took her by the hand and raised her up;
She became free from the fever and served them.
In the evening, after sunset,
all who were suffering or possessed were brought to Him.
The whole city flocked to the door.
He healed many who were suffering from all kinds of diseases.
And drove out many spirits,
but did not let the evil spirits speak,
because they knew Him.
Early in the morning, still deep in the night, He got up,
went outside and went to a lonely place
where He continued to pray.
Simon and His companions came after Him
and when they had found Him, they said:
“Everyone is looking for You.”
He answered them:
“Let us go somewhere else,
to the surrounding villages,
that I may preach there also.
“For to this end I have gone forth.”
He travelled throughout Galilee,
preached in their synagogues
He drove out the evil spirits.

On the care of the common home
187. This does not mean that we are opposed to every technological innovation that makes it possible to improve the quality of life of a population. But in any case, it should be clear that efficiency should not be the only criterion to be kept in mind and that the moment new elements of insight emerge from developments in information, a reassessment should take place with the participation of all stakeholders. The outcome of the discussion will be the decision not to proceed with a project, but could also be a change in the project or the development of alternative proposals.
