The disciples were in an enclosed space.
Suddenly, Jesus stood in their midst and they could see that it was He.
Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with You the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every day
Opening word
Believing in the resurrection is something that grows slowly.
Perhaps we long to once and for all
experience the full confidence
that God’s love is stronger than all the powers of evil.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that.
Fortunately, Jesus always comes back to us
with his word of peace,
even when we are afraid or in doubt.
In the signs of bread and wine,
in his Word and in our praying together,
he comes among us
and wants to be our peace and joy.
FIRST READING Acts 4, 32-35
One in heart and one in soul.
From the Acts of the Apostles
The multitude who had accepted the faith,
were one in heart and one in soul
and there was no one who called any of his possessions
called his property,
on the contrary, they owned everything in common.
With strength and insistence, the apostles bore witness
of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus
and rich grace rested on them all.
There was not a single needy among them,
because all who owned lands or houses sold them
and brought the proceeds
to lay down at the apostles’ feet.
To each was distributed of it according to his need.
INTERLUDIUM Ps. 118(117), 2-4.16ab-18.22-24
Refrain
Bring thanks to the Lord for He is gracious.
or
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
Repeat it, tribes of Israel,
endless is His mercy!
Repeat it, sons of Aaron,
endless is his mercy!
Repeats it, servants of the Lord!
endless is his mercy!
The Lord intervened with a powerful hand,
the hand of the Lord raised me up.
I will not die but live on,
and all around narrate the work of the Lord,
but not doomed to death.
The stone which the builders despised ,
that has become the cornerstone.
It is the Lord who has done this,
a miracle before our eyes.
This is the day, which the Lord has made,
we will celebrate it with joy.
SECOND READING 1 Jn 5:1-6
Everything born of God overcomes the world.
From the first letter of the holy apostle John
Friends,
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Saviour,
is a child of God.
Well, whoever loves the father,
also loves the child.
If we are to love God and keep his commandments,
then we must also love God’s children.
That is our yardstick.
Loving God means:
keeping his commandments,
and his commandments are not difficult to keep
for every one born of God
overcomes the world.
And the weapon with which we overcome the world
is none other than our faith.
No one can overcome the world but he who believes
that Jesus is the Son of God.
It is He who came with water and blood,
Jesus Christ.
He has come, not by water alone,
but by water and blood.
The Spirit demonstrates it,
because the Spirit is truth.
Verse for the gospel John 20, 29
Alleluia.
Because thou hast seen me, Tomas, believe,
saith the Lord,
blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL John 20, 19-31
Eight days later, Jesus came.
From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
John
On the evening of the first day of the week,
when the doors of the disciples’ abode
were closed for fear of the Jews,
Jesus entered,
stood in their midst and said,
“Peace be with you.”
After saying this,
He showed them His hands and His side.
The disciples were filled with joy
when they saw the Lord.
Once again Jesus said to them:
“Peace be unto you.
“As the Father has sent Me ,
so I send you.”
After these words, He blew on them and said:
“Receive the Holy Spirit.
“If ye forgive any man sins ,
then they are forgiven,
and if ye forgive them not
they are not forgiven.”
Tomas, one of the 12, also called Didymus,
however, was not with them when Jesus came.
The other disciples told him:
“We have seen the Lord.”
But he replied:
“Until I see in his hands the mark of the nails ,
and can put my finger in the place of the nails,
and put my hand in his side,
I shall certainly not believe.”
Eight days later, his disciples were again gathered in the house,
and now Tomas was there.
Although the doors were closed, Jesus entered,
stood in their midst and said:
“Peace be with you.”
Then He said to Tomas:
“Come here with your finger and contemplate my hands.
“Put out your hand and place it in my side
and be no longer disbelieving but believing.”
Then Tomas exclaimed:
“My Lord and my God!”
Then Jesus said to him:
“Because you have seen Me, believe.
“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
In the presence of his disciples
Jesus did many other signs
which are not recorded in this book,
but these are recorded here
That ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of God,
and that by believing
may live in his Name.

With this, “Laudato Si ” ended . However, Pope Francis has felt it necessary to provide a clarification because the situation has become even more urgent than at the time his encyclical Laudato Si was issued eight years ago. Not just about climate change, but especially about the consequences climate change has on the vulnerable and poor people affected by it worldwide.
This clarification will be given daily in his exhortation “Laudato Deum”
