The Lord is truly risen
Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to make you partakers of the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.

Opening word
Oh much-loved children of the Father
we are invited to the Lord’s meal.
We receive Christ Himself and later Him dwelling in us.
By recognising and receiving Him in the broken bread
we become one with Him and with His Father
in the power of the Holy Spirit.
We open our hearts and lives
so that the Lord can truly come to us
and be welcomed into our lives.
FIRST READING Acts 10:25-26,34-35,44-48
The gift of the Holy Spirit has also been poured out on the Gentiles.
From the Acts of the Apostles
When Peter entered, Cornelius came to meet him
and honoured him with a footfall.
But Peter made him stand up and said:
“Get up,
I too am only human.”
Peter took the floor and spoke:
“Only now do I fully realise,
that with God there is no regard for persons,
but that, from whatever people,
every one who fears Him and does good,
is pleasing to Him.”
While Peter was still speaking like this,
the Holy Spirit suddenly came down
on all who were listening to the speech.
The believers from the circumcision
who had come with Peter,
were amazed that even among the Gentiles
the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out,
for they heard them speaking languages
and glorifying God.
Then Peter said:
“Can anyone still refuse the water ,
so that these people would not be baptised
who just like us have received the Holy Spirit?”
And he ordered them to be baptised
in the name of Jesus Christ.
Thereupon they requested him to stay a few more days.

The Lord showed his righteousness to the nations.
Sing to the Lord a new song
Because He did wonders.
His hand asserted itself mightily,
the power of his holy arm.
The Lord revealed his salvation,

The whole earth beheld
the salvation of the Lord our God.
Glorify the Lord, all nations,

God is love.
From the first letter of the holy apostle John
Friends,
Let us love one another
For love comes from God.
Everyone who loves,
is a child of God and knows God.
Man without love does not know God
for God is love.
And the love that is God ,
has revealed itself among us,
because He sent His only Son into the world
to bring us life.
In this, love consists:
not we have loved God
but He has loved us,
and He sent His Son
to erase our sins by the sacrifice of his life.

Alleluia.
If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word;
my Father will love him
And We will come to him.

GOSPEL Jn 15:9-17
No greater love can anyone have than this, that he gives his life for his friends.

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:
“As the Father has loved Me ,
so I also have loved you.
“Abide in my love.
“If ye keep my commandments ,
ye shall abide in my love,
as I who have kept my Father’s commandments,
abide in his love.
“This I say unto you
That my joy may be in you
and your joy may become perfect.
“This is My commandment,
That ye love one another as I have loved you.
“No greater love can anyone have than this,
That he gives his life for his friends.
“Ye are my friends if ye do what I command you.
“I no longer call you servants
For the servant knows not what his lord does,
but ye have I called friends
For I have communicated to you all
what I have heard from the Father.
“Not ye have chosen Me but I have chosen you ,
and I have given you the task of going on a journey
and bring forth fruit that may be lasting.
“Then the Father will give you
all that ye ask Him in My Name.

The ethical incentive
29. The ethical decay of real power is disguised by marketing and false
information, which are useful tools in the hands of those with greater resources
possess with which to influence public opinion. Whenever plans
are made to implement a project that will have a strong impact on the
environment or involve serious pollution, the use of these
instruments raise false hopes among the people in that area by talking about the local
progress that will result or the opportunities for economic growth, employment
and human development for their children. But in reality, there is no real
interest in the future of these people because they are not clearly told that the
project will result in the clearing of their land, a decline in the quality of their
life, a desolate and less habitable landscape without life, and without the
joy of community and hope for the future; not to mention the
global damage that ultimately endangers many other people as well.
