Invitation
May I draw your attention to
The daily reading of the Gospel
This invitation seeks to convey the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, without exception
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of the Word of God.
Available every day
Consideration
God is love.
In Him we can live, move and be.
Animated by that love
Jesus prays to the Father for us
that we may all be one
and share in his joy.
Let us therefore be one community
as children of the same Father,
gathered around his Word and around his Table
to celebrate the Eucharist with joy.
FIRST READING                 Acts 1, 15-17,20a,20c-26

One of them must bear witness with us to his resurrection.

From the Acts of the Apostles
In those days Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren.
– There was a group
of about one hundred and twenty people gathered – and he spoke
and he spoke:
Brothers and sisters,
the word of Scripture was to be fulfilled
which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David
had spoken about Judas beforehand,
who became the guide
of those who imprisoned Jesus.
“He belonged to our number
and he had received his share in this ministry.
“For it is written in the book of Psalms:
Another shall take his office.
“So one of the men
who belonged to our company
During the time that the Lord Jesus was among us,
from the baptism of John
until the day He was taken away from us,
become with us a witness of His resurrection.”
Two were introduced:
Joseph, also called Barabbas, nicknamed Justus,
and Matthias.
Then they prayed as follows:
“You, Lord, who know all hearts ,
appoint the one You have chosen from among these two
to take his place in this ministry and apostleship
Who was unfaithful to Judas
to go to his own place.
Then they cast lots
and the lot fell on Mattias.
He was added to the group of 11 apostles.
Responsorial             Ps 103(102), 1-2, 11-12, 19-20ab
Keervers
The Lord has established his throne in heaven.
Glorify the Lord, O my soul
His holy name from the depths of your being!
Glorify the Lord, O my soul!
Do not forget His benefits!
As wide as heaven is the expanse of the earth
So wide is His mercy.
As far as the distance from east to west,
so far He removes sin from us.
The Lord has set His throne in heaven,
He rules over the whole universe.
Glorify the Lord, all His heavenly messengers,
mighty executors of His commands.
SECOND READING                        1 Jn 4:11-16
He who dwells in love dwells in God, and God is with him.
From the first letter of the holy apostle John
Friends,
If God has so loved us,
we must also love one another.
No one has ever seen God
if we do not love one another,
God lives in us
and His love is perfect in us.
This is proof that we dwell in Him
as He dwells in us
That He has made us partakers of His Spirit.
And we, we have seen
and we testify that the Father has sent His Son
to be the Saviour of the world.
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God ,
God dwells in him
and he in God.
Thus we have come to know God’s love for us
and we believe in Him.
God is love:
he who dwells in love
dwells in God
and God is with him.
Gospel verse              John 14, 18
Alleluia.
I will not leave you as orphans, says the Lord,
I will come and return to you
and your hearts will rejoice.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL               John 17, 11b-19
That they may be one as we are one
From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
John
At that moment, Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and prayed
“Holy Father
keep in your name those whom you have given me
that they may be one as we are one.
“When I was with them ,
I kept in your name those whom you have given me.
“I watched over them
and not one of them was lost
except the man of destruction
for the scriptures were to be fulfilled.
“But now I come to You
and even in the world I say this
that they may fully possess My joy in them.
“I communicated Your word to them ,
but the world hated them
because they are not of the world
As I am not of the world.
“I do not ask You to take them out of the world ,
but preserve them from evil.
“They are not of the world
As I am not of the world.
“Consecrate them to You in truth.
“Thy word is truth.
“As Thou hast sent me into the world,
so I send them into the world,
and for them I consecrate myself to Thee,
that they too may consecrate themselves to Thee in truth.”

36. It remains unfortunate that global crises go unused, when they have the potential
can provide the opportunity to bring about beneficial change. This is what happened
during the 2007-2008 financial crisis and again during the Covid-19 crisis. Because “the actual
strategies developed around the world in the aftermath of these crises have been more individualism, less integration and
more individualism, less integration and more freedom for the truly powerful, who always find a way to
powerful, who always find a way to get out unscathed”.
