Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wishes to share with You the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every day
Consideration
It is not good to be too quick to condemn the apostles. If we are honest with ourselves we realise that we too sometimes appropriate things, or feel threatened in our task by competitors. The Lord prompts us to keep an open mind. It befits a Christian to recognise and appreciate the good that happens outside the community of faith as well. After all, God’s Spirit blows where He wills.
FIRST READING James 4:13-17
What is thy life? Thou shouldst say :
If the Lord wills it . . .
From the letter of the holy apostle James
Brothers and sisters,
Ye who say :
“Today or tomorrow we will go to this and that city ,
we will spend a year there
and trade and make money . . .”
ye do not even know what tomorrow’s day will bring you !
What is thy life ?
A mist
which appears for a moment to disappear soon.
Thou shouldst say :
“If the Lord wills ,
we shall be alive
and do this or that . . .”
Instead, thou art bluffing and boasting
full of hubris ;
all this boasting is wrong.
He who could do good but fails to do it ,
does sin.
INTERLUDIUM Ps 49(48), 2-3, 6-7, 8-10, 11
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for to them belongs the kingdom of heaven
(Mt. 5, 3).
Listen, peoples, to these words,
ye earthlings, will understand;
simple men, considerable lords,
rich and poor, whoever you are.
Why should I fear evil times ,
when I am beset by evil men?
By people who count on their wealth
And who boast of their possessions.
Surely there is no man who can buy himself free,
pay his own ransom to God ?
Too high is the price for eternal life,
never is there enough to escape death.
We see that even wise men must die one day,
with fools and fools they perish.
They must leave their wealth to strangers,
the grave will forever be their home.
ALLELUIA John 14, 23
Alleluia.
If any man love Me ,
he will keep My word ;
my Father will love him
and We will come to him.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mk. 9, 38-40
He who is not against us is for us.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark
At that time John said to Jesus :
“Master, we have someone who does not follow us,
casting out devils in your name,
and we tried to prevent him from doing so
because he was not a follower of ours.”
But Jesus said :
“Do not prevent him ,
for one who does a miracle in My Name
will not speak so graciously unfavourably of Me.
“He who is not against us is for us.”

46. A mechanism was then proposed regarding the losses and damages caused by the
climate change-induced losses and damages, which recognises the richest countries
as the main culprits and seeks to offset the devastating impacts in the most vulnerable
countries seeks to compensate. It is no longer about “adapting” these
countries, but compensating them for the damage already suffered. That
