Invitation

May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?

This invitation wants to share with You the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.

Available every day

Consideration

In his catechesis on the way of Jesus, Mark tells us something about marriage. It is a sacrament of mission. Husband and wife keep themselves available for each other. Their self-giving is exclusive just as Christ’s gifts to his Church are unique. Therefore, for Christians, the marriage bond is unique and immutable. Husband and wife have the same duties. Marriage must be done. Married people marry each other and have been married by God. They are a picture of God’s covenant.

FIRST READING                      James 5, 9-12
The judge is already at the door

From the letter of the holy apostle James

Brothers and sisters,
do not accuse one another;
Then you yourselves will fall under judgment.
Remember :
The judge is already at the door.
Take an example from the patience
and patience of the prophets
who have spoken in the name of the Lord ;
we praise them happily
because they have endured.
You have also heard of the steadfastness of Job
and you know how the Lord dealt with him in the end,
for the Lord is rich in mercy and compassion.

Before all else, brothers and sisters,
do not take an oath ;
do not swear by heaven
Or by earth or wherefore.
Simply say yes or no,
then you will not fall under God’s judgement.

INTERLUDIUM             Ps. 103(102), 1-2, 3-4, 8-9, 11-12

The Lord is merciful and benevolent.

Glorify, my soul, the Lord,
His holy Name from the depths of your being!
Glorify, my soul, the Lord!
forget not his benefits!

It is He who forgives you your debts,
who heals thee from thy afflictions.
It is He who saves you from destruction,
who surrounds you with his favour and mercy.

The Lord is merciful and benevolent,
longsuffering and kind.
He does not constantly keep reproaching,
He is not forever wroth.

As wide as the heavens span the earth,
so all-encompassing is His mercy.
As far as the distance from east to west,
so He expels from us sin.

ALLELUIA            cf. Acts 16, 14b

Alleluia.
Make our hearts receptive , Lord,
and that we turn to the word of your Son.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL               Mk. 10, 1-12

What God has joined together, a man must not separate.

From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark

In those days Jesus departed
and went to the area of Judea and the Overjordan.
There too people came to Him from all sides
and as according to custom He taught them.
Pharisees also came and asked Him:
“Is a man free to disown his wife?”
With that they wanted to test Him.
He answered them with a counter-question:
“What has Moses prescribed for you?”
They said:
“Moses has allowed a letter of divorce to be drawn up
and to send her away.”
But Jesus answered them:
“Because of the hardness of your heart
he has written down that provision for you.
But in the beginning, at creation,
God made them as man and woman.
Therefore the man will leave his father and mother
to be bound to his wife
and these two will become one flesh.
“So they are no longer two,
one flesh as they have become.
“What therefore God has joined together ,
shall not separate a man.”
At home, the disciples questioned Him about this again.
He spoke to them:
“Whoever sends his wife away and marries another
is guilty of adultery before her.
And when she leaves her husband and marries another
she commits adultery.” ____________________________________________________________________________________

APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION LAUDATE DEUM

OF THE HOLY FATHER
POPE FRANCISCUS

TO ALL PEOPLE
OF GOOD WILL

48. The Paris Agreement presents a broad and ambitious objective: to keep the increase
of the Earth’s average temperature below 2° C compared to preindustrial levels, and with the aim of reducing it to 1.5° C. Work is still underway
working on consolidating concrete procedures for monitoring and to establish general
criteria for comparing different countries’ targets
facilitate. This makes it difficult to arrive at a more objective (quantitative) evaluation
of actual results.
