Opening word
The ringing of the bells reminds us
that we do not come to church on our own initiative.
Jesus himself calls us together to celebrate Eucharist.
He gives us the food of his Word and his Bread.
The high feast of Sacrament Day is an opportunity to reflect
at the richness of the Eucharist and Jesus’ gift of life.
This day makes us feel grateful
for the great gift of the Eucharist
in our lives, in our community and in the worldwide Church.
This Eucharist connects us more strongly to Jesus.
Let us greet him
in his great love and mercy.
FIRST READING Ex. 24, 3-8
This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord makes with you.
From the book of Exodus
In those days Moses informed the people
of all the words and provisions of the Lord.
In unison, the people professed:
“All the words that the Lord has spoken to us ,
shall we keep.”
Thereupon Moses wrote down all the Lord’s words.
The next morning, at the foot of the mountain, he built
an altar
and set up twelve wisdom stones,
after the twelve tribes of Israel.
Then he instructed young Israelites to
bulls as burnt and victims for the Lord.
Moses took half the blood and put it in bowls
while he poured out the other half over the altar.
Then he took the covenant book and read it to the people.
And they assured:
“Everything the Lord says, we will do and take to heart.”
Then Moses took the blood,
sprinkled it on the people and spoke:
“This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord ,
by virtue of all these words, makes with you.”
Answer Psalm Ps 116b (115), 12-13, 15 and 16ac, 17-18
Keervers
The cup of salvation I will take,
invoking the name of the Lord.
How can I give thanks
For all that the Lord gave me?
The cup of salvation I will take,
invoking the name of the Lord.
For precious is in the eye of the Lord
The dying of his faithful.
O Lord, I am thy servant,
Thou hast slain my fetters.
To Thee will I offer a sacrifice of praise,
invoking the name of the Lord.
I will fulfil my vows
Where all His people see it.
SECOND READING Hebrews 9, 11-15
The blood of Christ will purify our souls.
From the letter to the Hebrews
Brothers and sisters,
Now Christ has come,
the high priest of true salvation.
The tent of His priesthood
is greater and more perfect than the previous one;
it is not made by human hand,
that is, it does not belong to our created world.
The blood of his sacrifice is his own blood,
not that of goats and calves.
Thus He entered the sanctuary once and for all,
and He obtained eternal redemption.
For if the blood of goats and bulls
and the sprinkled ashes of a heifer
can sanctify the defiled so that they become legally clean ,
how much greater is the power of Christ’s blood!
Through the eternal Spirit, He offered Himself to God,
an immaculate sacrifice
that purifies our souls from dead works
to honour the living God.
And therefore He is Mediator of a new covenant:
a dying has taken place
that brings deliverance from the sins
committed under the first covenant;
now those who are called by God can,
receive the inheritance promised to them.
Verse for the Gospel John 6:51-52
Alleluia.
I am the living bread
Which came down from heaven.
If anyone eats of this bread ,
he will live forever.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mk. 14, 12-16.22-26
This is my body. This is my blood.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Mark
On the first day of unleavened bread,
the day on which one slaughtered the paschal lamb,
the disciples said to Jesus:
“Where wilt thou have us to make preparations
so that Thou mayst hold the paschal meal?”
He then sent out two of his disciples with the instruction:
“Go into the city
and there you will meet a man
who carries a jug;
follow him
and tell the owner of the house he is entering.
The Master lets ask:
Where is the hall for Me,
where I can hold the paschal meal with My disciples?
“He will then show you a large upper room
with resting beds and provided with everything necessary;
make everything ready for us there.”
The disciples left,
entered the city,
found everything as He had told them
and prepared the Passover meal.
Under the meal, Jesus took the bread,
pronounced the blessing,
broke it and gave it to them, saying:
“Take,
this is my body.”
Then He took the cup
and after speaking the prayer of thanksgiving, He reached it out to them
and they all drank from it.
And He spoke to them:
“This is my blood of the Covenant ,
which is shed for many.
“Verily, I say unto you:
I will drink no more of what the vine brings forth
until the day when I, new,
shall drink it in the Kingdom of God.”
After they had sung the hymn,
they went to the Mount of Olives.

TO ALL PEOPLE
OF GOOD WILL
54. If we have faith in people’s ability to transcend their petty interests
transcend and think in larger terms, we can continue to hope that COP28 will enable a
decisive acceleration of the energy transition, with effective
commitments subject to ongoing monitoring. This Conference could mark a
change of direction, showing that everything done since 1992 was in fact serious and
was worthwhile, otherwise it will be a major disappointment and put the good that has been achieved so far
has been achieved will be jeopardised
