The daily reading of the Gospel
This invitation seeks to convey the joy

Available every day
Openingsword
In the storms of life
we seek security and support.
Like the disciples in the gospel
in those moments, we can
we find support and strength in the Lord.
He reaches out to us
and wants to free us from fear and doubt.
Let us therefore open our hearts
to his presence in our midst
and trust in his word
that brings calm and peace.
FIRST READING Job 38, 1.8-11
Here their proud waves break.
From the book of Job
At that time, in the midst of the storm and wind, the Lord began to speak to Job.
To Job:
‘Where were you
when the sea pounded against her gates
and wanted to break out of the mother’s womb;
when I clothed her with clouds
and I wrapped her in winds of wisps of clouds
When I turned her into a barrier
I closed the door and said:
So far and no more
Here your proud waves break.
RESPONSORIAL Psalm 107(106), 23-24, 25-26, 28-29, 30-31
Refrain
Thank the Lord,
He is ever merciful.
They set sail to go out to sea
To trade on the water.
They experienced the power of the Lord,
His greatness over the troubled deep.
He spoke and blew a storm wind
that chased the waves;
They rose and sank again,
they were paralysed with terror.
Then they called on the Lord in their distress
And He delivered them from their misery.
He calmed the storm until it became a breeze
and calmed the waves.
He gave them calmness and new courage
and brought them to a safe harbour.
They should thank the Lord for His goodness,
for all His benefits to mankind.
SECOND READING 2 Cor. 5, 14-17
The new has already come.
From the holy apostle Paul’s second letter to the Christians in Corinth.
Brothers and sisters,
The love of Christ does not let us rest
since we have understood that one died for all.
But all have died
and He died for all
so that those who live would no longer live for themselves
but for Him who died and rose for them.
Therefore, from now on we will not judge anyone
by the old standards.
And though we once judged Christ by such standards ,
no more.
So whoever is in Christ is a new creation:
the old has passed away, the new is already here.
Gospel verse Lk 7, 16b
Alleluia.
A great prophet has risen in our midst
and God has looked kindly on his people.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mk 4, 35-41
Who is this one, that even wind and water obey him?
From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Mark
One day, towards evening
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘Let us go to the other side.’
They sent the crowd away
and led him out, sitting in the boat;
Other boats accompanied him.
A fierce storm arose
and the waves pounded on the boat so that it was already filling up.
Meanwhile, Jesus was sleeping on the rear cushion.
They woke him up and said to him:
‘Master, are you not grieved that we are perishing?’.
He stood up,
spoke an urgent word to the wind
and spoke to the water:
‘Quiet!’
The wind died down and there was absolute silence.
He spoke to them:
‘Why are you so afraid?
How is it possible that you have no faith yet?’
A great fear overtook them and they asked each other:
‘Who is He that even the wind and water obey Him?
