Consideration
Thomas was an honest and insightful man. He knew the joy of recognising the Lord, so in that moment he hesitates to admit his error. His response to his encounter with the risen Christ is a confession of faith: “My Lord and my God! We can make these words our own. Even in difficult circumstances, we will find in this simple prayer the strength to keep believing in Him whom we have recognised.
FIRST READING Eph 2:19-22
Built on the foundation of the apostles.
From the letter of the holy apostle Paul to the Ephesians
Brothers and sisters,
you are no longer strangers and foreigners
but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,
built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
with Christ Jesus Himself as the keystone,
holding the whole building in place.
In Him it grows into a holy temple in the Lord.
In Him you too will be built
into a dwelling place of God,
in the Spirit.

GOSPEL John 20, 24-29
My Lord and my God
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
John
Thomas, one of the twelve, also called Didymus, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.
Was not with the disciples when Jesus came.
The others said to him:
“Wii have seen the Lord”.
But he replied:
“I do not see in his hands the mark of nails….,
…and I can put my finger on the place of the nails….
… . and put my hand into his side,
…I will not believe it.
Eight days later, his disciples were back in the house …,
…and now Thomas was there too.
Though the doors were locked, Jesus went in,
…stood in their midst and said ….
“Peace be with you.”
Then He said to Thomas
Korm here with your finger and see mi my hands.
Extend your hand and place it in my side.
And be no longer unbelieving but believing”.
Then Thomas exclaimed:
“My Lord and my God!”
Then Jesus said to him:
“Because you have seen me, do you believe?
“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”
