Invitation

May I draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel

This invitation is to share the joy of the Gospel with you.
Everyone, without exception
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of God’s Word.
Available every day

Consideration
What is sin? Biblically speaking, sin is a kind of mentality from which we frame our lives. This mentality is that we are always preoccupied with ourselves. If we take this path in our lives, we are at a dead end, paralysed and unable to move forward. Becoming then means: acknowledging this deadlock and this paralysis. It also means: letting others lift you up and lead you to the Lord. He is merciful and heals.

FIRST READING                 Am. 7, 10-17

Draw my people Israel as a prophet

From the prophet Amos

In those days Amasa, the priest of Bethel, spoke,
to Jeroboam, king of Israel, this message:
“Within your own Israel, Amos conspires against you ;
The land cannot withstand all his threats.
“For he, Amos, says :
Jeroboam shall die by the sword
And Israel shall be banished from its own land.
And to Amos, Amasha said:
“O seer, you must go away!
“Go to Judah
And earn your living by prophesying there!
“Here in Bethel you can no longer prophesy ,
for this sanctuary belongs to the king
and this building belongs to the kingdom.
Amos answered Amasa :
“I am neither a prophet nor a member of a guild of prophets,
I am a shepherd and a fig farmer.
But the Lord has brought me from behind my beasts,” he said.
And the Lord said to me:
Go as a prophet to my people Israel.
“So listen to the word of the Lord.
“You say:
Do not prophesy against Israel,
prophesy not against the house of Israel.
“But the Lord says:
Thy wife shall play the harlot in this city,
thy sons and thy daughters shall perish by the sword,
your own land will be divided with the measuring cord;
You shall die in an unclean land, and Israel shall be banished from its land.
And Israel shall be banished from its land.

INTERLUDIUM              Ps 19(18), 8, 9, 10, 11

The judgments of the Lord are true,
righteous in all matters.

The law of the Lord is perfect,
it strengthens the uncertain mind.
His precepts are trustworthy
they make the ignorant wise.

All his commandments are lawful,
they satisfy the mind.
Clear as crystal are his commandments
They are light to the eyes.

The word of the Lord is right,
it remains eternally true.
His judgements are true
Righteous in all matters.
More desirable than gold or jewels,
Salubrious as the seed of honey.

HALLELUIA             1 Sam. 3, 9 ; John 6, 69b

Alleluia.
Speak, Lord, your servant is listening;
your words are words of eternal life.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL                  Mt 9, 1-8

The crowd glorified God
who had given so much power to men.

From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Matthew

At that moment Jesus got into a boat, crossed over
crossed over and entered his city.
They brought him a paralytic who was lying on a bed.
Seeing his faith, Jesus said to the paralytic.
“Be of good cheer, my son, your sins are forgiven you”.
Some scribes now said to each other:
“That man is speaking blasphemies”.
But Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them:
“Why do you think evil of yourselves?
“Which is easier, to say :
Your sins are forgiven you, or :
Get up and walk?
“So that you may know
that the Son of Man on earth has power to forgive sins.
– And now he spoke to the paralytic : – – –
Get up, take up your bed and go home”.
And the paralytic got up and went home.
And when the crowd saw this, they were overwhelmed with awe.
And they glorified God,
who had given the people so much strength.
