CONSIDERATION

When we want to address supplication to high persons, we dare to do so only with humility and reverence. How much more, then, should we pray to the Lord, the God of the universe, with the utmost humility and pure piety. And let us remember that we will not be heard by a multitude of words, but by our purity of heart and our sad tears. Therefore, prayer should be short and pure, unless one is prompted by desire, driven by the grace of God, to continue it. (From the Rule of Benedict)

FIRST READING                  Spr. 2, 1-9
Turn your heart to understanding.

From the book of Proverbs

My son
if you accept my words
and keep my commandments carefully
and turn your ear to wisdom
and turn your heart to understanding
yes, if you call to yourself for wisdom
and to insight you will raise your voice
if thou seek her like silver
and seek her as hidden treasures
then thou shalt understand the fear of the LORD
and you shall find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD gives wisdom;
Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
He provides for the prosperity of the righteous
and the protection of those who live blamelessly.
He guards the paths of righteousness
And protects the way of his faithful.
Then you will understand justice and righteousness,
righteousness and all good ways.

Interludium        Ps.34(33), 2-3, 4 and 6, 9 and 12, 14-15

I will praise the Lord every day.

I will praise the Lord every day,
His praise is always on my lips.
My spirit is proud of the Lord’s favour,
Let all who hear it rejoice.

Glorify the Lord together with me
And let us worship His name in chorus.
Be glad in Him, then you will be happy,
For He does not disappoint you.

Watch and see how merciful the Lord is,
Happy is he who seeks salvation in Him.
Come, children, listen to what I say to you;
I teach you to fear the Lord.

Therefore restrain your tongue from evil words,
your lips from lying words.
Therefore, avoid evil and do only good,
Always seek peace and do not let it slip away.

GOSPEL                 Mt 19:27-29
You who have left everything to follow me ,
you will receive a hundredfold.

From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew

At that moment Peter said to Jesus:
“Behold, we have left everything to follow you.
What then shall we receive?”
Jesus spoke to them:
“Truly, I say to you:
At the resurrection, when the Son of Man shall sit on the throne of his glory
shall sit on the throne of his glory ,
you too, who have followed me
shall sit upon twelve thrones
and rule over the twelve tribes of Israel.

And everyone who has his own household, brothers or sisters, father or mother’s
wife, children or fields
has given up for the sake of my name
will receive it back a hundredfold
and will receive eternal life.
