Consideration
Perhaps we find it difficult to witness to our faith in Jesus because we are afraid of people’s reaction. Maybe we are also worried because we realise that believing in Jesus will ask a lot of us. Jesus sees through us. He speaks encouraging words to us. We can trust that we are valuable in God’s eyes. God watches us and stays close to us. He accompanies us on our journey to the Kingdom of God.
FIRST READING Isa 6:1-8
I am a man of unclean lips, yet my eyes have seen the King, the
Yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of heavenly powers.
From the prophet Isaiah
In the dying year of King Uzziah, I saw the Lord ,
seated on a high and exalted throne;
the drag of his robe covered the whole floor of the temple.
Around him were seraphim, each with six wings;
two to cover the face
two to cover the feet
and two to fly.
And they called out to each other
“Holy, holy, holy
the Lord of heavenly powers!
“The whole earth is full of his glory!”
The loud shouting shook the thresholds to their seams
and the sanctuary filled with smoke.
Then I cried out:
“Woe is me, I am lost!
“For I am a man of unclean lips
and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips
and yet my eyes have seen the King,
the Lord of the heavenly powers!”
But one of the seraphim flew towards me
With a burning coal,
which he had taken from the altar with tongs;
He touched my mouth with it and spoke :
“Now that this has touched your lips ,
your sins are gone,
your transgressions are forgiven”.
Then I heard the Lord say:
“Who shall I send?
“Who will precede us?”
And I answered:
“Here I am: send me!”
INTERLUDIUM Ps. 93(92), 1ab. 1c-2, 5
The Lord is king, clothed with splendour.
The Lord is king, clothed with splendour,
The Lord has girded himself with strength.
Firm as the earth, unshakable,
so firm is Thy throne throughout the ages,
From eternity Thou art, O God.
Reliable is all that You testify,
thy house be holy unto eternity.
Alleluia Ps 119(118), 27
Alleluia.
Lead me, O Lord, in the way of your commandments
Then will I remember your works.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mt 10, 24-33
Do not fear those who kill the body.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Matthew
At that time, Jesus said to his apostles:
“The disciple is not above his master
and the servant is not above his master.
“It is enough for the disciple
to be treated as his master
for the servant to be treated like his master.
“If someone treats the head of a household
Beelzebub dare call ,
how much more the members of his household.
“Do not be afraid of them.
“Nothing is covered or will be revealed,
nothing is hidden or will be known.
“What I tell you in the dark, you say in the light,
and what they whisper in your ear
proclaim it from the rooftops.
“Do not fear those
Who can kill the body but not the soul;
Rather fear the One
Who can condemn soul and body in hell.
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?
“And yet, apart from the will of your Father
not a sparrow will fall to the ground.
“But with you, even every hair of your head is counted.
“So fear not;
You are worth more than a swarm of sparrows.
“Whoever will confess me among men
him will I also acknowledge as mine
by My Father who is in heaven.
“But whoever denies Me among men ,
him will I also deny
before my Father who is in heaven”.
