Invitation

May I draw your attention to
The daily reading of the Gospel

This invitation seeks to convey the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, without exception
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of the Word of God.

Available every day

Consideration

Two by two, Jesus sent his disciples out to convert and heal people.
To convert and heal people.
They took nothing with them for the journey
but their hearts were filled with great love.
Wherever they were received
they testified to the joyful message
that God makes a new future possible
and accepts us as his children.
At the beginning of this celebration
let us immerse ourselves in God’s love
and ask for his mercy.

FIRST READING             Am. 7, 12-15

Prophet, go to my people

From the prophet Amos

In those days, Amasa, the priest of Bethel, said to Amos:
“O seer, you must go your way!
“Go to Judah
And earn your living there by prophesying!
“You can no longer prophesy here in Bethel
for this sanctuary belongs to the king
and this building belongs to the kingdom.

Amos answered Amasha
“I am neither a prophet nor a member of a guild of prophets,
I am a shepherd of cattle and a grower of figs.
But the Lord has brought me from behind my beasts,” he said.
And it is the Lord who has said to me
Go as a prophet to my people Israel”.

RESPONSORIAL                85(84), 9ab-10, 11-12, 13-14

Refrain
Show us your mercy, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.
And grant us your salvation.

I will listen to what God says to me
Surely a word of reconciliation.
His salvation is near to those who fear him,
His glory comes to dwell with us again.

Mercy and truth meet
Peace embraces justice.
Truth springs from the earth
Justice looks down from heaven.

Then the Lord grants us his blessing
and our land brings forth rich fruit;
Then shall righteousness go before him
And prosperity will follow his footsteps.

SECOND READING                Ephesians 1:3-14

In Him He chose us before the foundation of the world.

From the holy apostle Paul’s letter to the Christians in
Ephesus

Brothers and sisters,

Blessed be God,
the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in heavenly places in Christ
with all spiritual blessings.
In Him He has chosen us
before the foundation of the world
To be holy and blameless before Him.
In love, He has predestined us
To be His children through Jesus Christ,
according to the good pleasure of His will,
to the praise of the glory of His grace.

With this He has endowed us in the Beloved,
in whom we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins
through the riches of his grace.
This he has communicated to us
as an abundance of wisdom and insight.
For he has made known to us his secret counsel,
the decision he had made in Christ
for the fulfilment of the fullness of time:
To gather the universe in Christ under one Head,
all beings in the heavens and all beings on earth,
in Him.

In Christ, we have also received our inheritance,
predestined by the disposition of Him
Who works all things according to the decree of His will,
that we may spread the praise of His glory,
we who in advance
built up our hope in Christ beforehand.
In Christ you are also,
having received the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation,
in him you also
come to faith,
accompanied by the Holy Spirit of promise
who is the pledge of our inheritance
for the redemption of God’s people
and to the praise of his glory.

Gospel verse              Cf. Eph. 1, 17-18

Alleluia.
May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
enlighten our inner eye
to see how great is the hope to which he calls us.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL                        McK 6, 7-13

He began to send them out.

From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Mark

At that moment Jesus called the twelve to himself
and began to send them out two by two.
He gave them power over the unclean spirits
and forbade them
to carry anything with them for the journey, except a staff:
neither food, nor travelling bag, nor copper money in their belts.
“You may wear sandals ,
but do not wear double robes.

He further said:
“If you enter a house somewhere ,
then stay there until you come out again.
“And if there is a place where you are not welcome
and not listening to you
then come out
and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

They went out to preach repentance.
They drove out many demons,
anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.
