Invitation
I would like to draw your attention to
the daily Gospel reading
This invitation wants to share the joy of the Gospel with you.
Of the Gospel. Everyone, without exception
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every day.
Consideration
The Lord wants to meet us in the people who cross our path. In them, we can catch a glimpse of God. Our encounters with others can be intense, especially when our faith in Christ is challenged. It is very important that in those difficult moments we continue to choose Christ and seek Him in the other person. This can be ’taking up your cross’ ….
FIRST READING Isaiah 1:11-17
Go and cleanse yourselves; remove your evil deeds from my sight!
From the prophet Isaiah
Thus says the Lord your God:
“What is the use of your many sacrifices?
“I am tired of them, your burnt offerings of rams and the fat of calves
and the fat of fattened calves.
“The blood of bulls and sheep and goats
is no longer pleasing to Me.
“When you stand before Me – who asked you to stand before Me – you will be My disciples.
Who has asked you
to walk in My courts?
“Cease these senseless sacrifices!
“I am disgusted by their smell!
“The new moon and the Sabbath and the high day ,
I no longer take pleasure in them:
I do not desire feasts accompanied by misbehaviour!
“Your feasts at new moon and your high days ,
weigh on My heart
and I no longer bear that burden!
“When you raise your hands
then I close My eyes.
“You can pray all you want, I no longer hear you.
“Your hands are full of blood.
“Go and wash, go and cleanse yourselves!
“Get out of My sight with your evil deeds!
“Stop doing evil, learn to do good,
stand up for justice, help the oppressed,
defend the orphan, plead for the widow.”
Thus speaks the Lord Almighty.
INTERLUDIUM Ps 50(49), 8-9, 16bc-17, 21, 23
He who walks the straight paths finds salvation with God.
I do not reproach you for your sacrifices
Your sacrificial animals I see burning all the time.
I no longer want bulls from your houses
And rams from your sheepfold I will not ask.
How often do you speak of my commandments
and always have my covenant on your tongue?
You who do not like discipline
And never heed my words.
Would I remain silent if you did such a thing?
Or do you think I am like you?
I accuse you. I submit everything to you.
He who offers praise sacrifices truly honours me,
He who walks the straight paths finds the salvation of God.
HALLELUYA Ps. 119(118), 34
Alleluia.
Give me understanding to keep your law, O Lord
To follow it wholeheartedly.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mt 10:34-11:1
I have not come to bring peace, but the sword.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Matthew
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth;
I have not come to bring peace, but the sword.
“I have come to bring discord
between a man and his father, between a daughter and her mother
daughter-in-law and mother-in-law
and one’s housemates shall be his enemies.
“Whoever loves father or mother more than Me
is not worthy of Me;
Whoever loves son or daughter more than Me,
is not worthy of Me.
“And whoever does not take up his cross and follow Me
is not worthy of Me.
“Whoever finds his life will lose it
and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
“Whoever lifts you, lifts Me;
And whoever exalts Me, exalts Him who sent Me.
“Whoever takes a prophet because he is a prophet ,
shall also receive the wages of a prophet;
And whoever takes a righteous man
because he is a virtuous man
shall also receive the wages of a righteous man.
“And whoever takes one of these little ones, even if it is only a cup of cold water
even if it is only a cup of cold water
Because he is My disciple
verily, I say to you:
His reward will certainly not escape him.”
When Jesus finished teaching His 12 disciples, He departed from there,
He left from there
to teach and preach in their cities.
