Invitation

May I draw your attention to
The daily reading of the Gospel

This invitation seeks to convey the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, without exception
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of God’s word.

Available every day.

Consideration

What is meekness, is it the gentle courage to move forward, to stand in life with meekness and courage? The Lord Jesus says of Himself that He is meek and humble in heart. Those who believe this can come to Him with all their joys and burdens. We can express them in prayer before Him. He is credible when He says we will find rest and relief with Him.

FIRST READING             Isaiah 26:7-9. 12. 16-19

Awake and rejoice, all you who are buried in the dust!

From the prophet Isaiah

Lord, the path of the godly is straight.
You are preparing the way of the righteous.
Even when you go in the way of your judgments ,
we look to You with hope;
Praising You and remembering You
is the desire of our hearts.
My heart longs for You in the night
And my soul seeks Thee in the morning.
When Your judgements strike the earth
the inhabitants of the whole world learn what justice is.
But give us peace, O Lord,
for all that
You have done for us.

You, Lord, are the one
to whom one looks for in high distress;
the severe trial was a chastisement
sent by You.
Like a pregnant woman in labour,
who squirms and cries during her contractions,
so were we, Lord, before You.
We had received, we came in travail,
but when we bore, we bore wind
and we gave no salvation to the earth;
the world received no inhabitants.
But your dead will revive
Your fallen shall rise again!
Awake and rejoice
all who are buried in the dust!
For your dew, O Lord, is dew of light
And the land of shadows shall give birth.

INTERLUDIUM           Ps 102(101), 13, 14, 15, 16-18, 19-21

The Lord looks down on the earth from heaven.

You, O Lord, remain through the ages,
Your name from generation to generation.

Arise and have mercy on Zion,
for now is the time to be merciful,
yes, now is the time!

Your servants love those stones,
with pity see those ruins lie.

The heathen shall fear thy name again,
the princes of the earth Your glory, O Lord;
when you rebuild the walls of Zion,
when You return there in all Your glory;
when You hear the voice of those who have been plundered,
do not ignore their pleas before You.

Write this down for the generation to come
And let our children thank the Lord for it.
The Lord looks down from his holy height,
He looks down from heaven to earth.
He will hear the cries of the captives,
He will deliver those ordained to death.

Alleluia                  Ps. 119(118), 135

Alleluia.
Let your face shine before your servant, O Lord,
show me your dispositions.
Alleluia

GOSPEL            Mt 11, 28-30

I am meek and humble of heart.

From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Matthew

At that time Jesus spoke and said:
“Come to Me all you who are weary and burdened ,
and I will give you rest and relief.
“Take My yoke on your shoulders and learn from Me:
I am gentle and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for your souls,
for My yoke is easy and My burden is light”.
