Consideration
What do we face when we experience opposition because of our Christian faith? Jesus turns away. He does not flee, but evades danger. He can only offer his message, not impose it. Jesus carries his message with gentleness. He does not answer violence with violence. Jesus is the Messiah who brings hope and future, especially to the weakest. Thus, he is the image of God himself. He is our example to follow.
FIRST READING Mic 2:1-5
They covet fields; they covet houses.
From the prophet Micah
Woe to those who plot injustice
and in their beds remember their evil deeds
at the first dawn,
mighty as their hands are.
If they covet fields, they steal them,
If they want houses, they take them.
They seize the man and his house
The possessor and his property.
That is why the Lord speaks like this:
“I go against that kind of people
who plot an evil deed
something you will not be able to shake off from your neck;
you will no longer go straight
for it will surely be an evil time!
“On that day a mocking song will rise against you
And a plaintive wail shall sound
We are ruined, utterly ruined!
The inheritance of my people has been given to strangers!
Ah, he is taking it from me!
To the wicked he divides our fields!”.
“Then you will have no one
to assign you an inheritance
in the congregation of the Lord.

Do not forget the poor, O Lord.
Why do you keep aloof, O Lord?
You hide yourself in times of misery;

Jesus urged them not to make Him known.
From the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Matthew
At that moment the Pharisees went out of the synagogue
and plotted a plan to eliminate Jesus.
But because Jesus knew it, he went away.
Many followed him and he healed them all.
He insisted, however, that they should not make him known,
so that the word spoken by the prophet
the word of the prophet Isaiah:
“Behold my Servant, whom I have chosen,
my Beloved, in whom my soul rejoices.
I will rest my spirit on him,
He will proclaim the law of God to the nations.
“He shall neither contend nor cry out
And his voice shall not be heard in the streets.
“He shall not break the crooked reed
nor quench the burning flax seed
until He has brought the law of God to victory;
And in His Name shall the nations hope.
