Introducion
It gives not only a good feeling
but more importantly security and protection
when someone promises us
“Be still, I will take care of you!
Today, God greets us with these words.
Like a good shepherd, he wants to take care of us.
We can sit at his table
and enjoy his hospitality.
His house will be our home.
He speaks words to us
that encourage us and give us hope.
FIRST READING Jer 23:1-6
I will gather the remaining sheep and herd them.
From the prophet Jeremiah
“Woe to the shepherds
by whom the sheep of my flock perish
and they go astray”.
-Godly speech from the Lord.
Therefore says the Lord, the God of Israel,
To the shepherds who feed my people:
“Because of you my sheep have perished
and are scattered; you have not listened.
“But I am watching over you because of all your transgressions.
-Godly words of the Lord.
“I myself gather the sheep that remain.
From all the lands to which I have driven them.
“I will bring them back to their pasture,
“They will be fruitful and numerous again.
“Then I will appoint shepherds over them, who will feed them in truth.
“They will no longer need to be afraid or troubled,
they will no longer lack anything
-I will give them a word of God from the Lord.
“Believe me, the time is near
– God -speaks the Lord-
That I will raise up a rightful descendant of David.
he will rule them with skill
and he will rule the land with law and justice.
“In his time Judah will be redeemed,
Israel will live securely.
“And this is the name given to him
the Lord our righteousness.
Responsorial Ps. 23(22), 1-3a, 3b-4b, 5, 6
Refrain
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing;
He maketh me to graze in green pastures.
He leads me to water, where I can rest,
He restores my courage.
He guides my steps on the straight path
For His name’s sake.
Though my path leads me through dark gorges
I fear no evil wherever You lead me.
You invite me to Your table
To the displeasure of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil,
my cup overflows.
Prosperity and blessing never fail me, all the days of my life.
All the days of my life.
The house of the Lord will be my dwelling place
forever.
SECOND READING Ephesians 2, 13-18
He is our peace, He who made the two worlds one.
From the holy apostle Paul’s letter to the Christians in
Ephesus
Brothers and sisters,
through the blood of Christ you are
who were once far away
have been brought nearer in Christ Jesus.
For He is our Peace,
He who has made the two worlds one,
and has broken down the wall of separation
by destroying the enmity in His flesh,
namely the law of commandments with its ordinances.
He has made peace
by creating in his person out of the two one new Man,
and reconciling them both to God in one body
through the cross, in which He killed the enmity.
And He came
and proclaimed peace to those who were far off
and peace to those who were near.
For in Him we both, in one Spirit, have access to the Father.
access to the Father.
Gospel verse John 10, 27
Alleluia.
My sheep listen to my voice, says the Lord
and I know them and they follow me.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mk 6, 30-34
They were like sheep without a shepherd.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Mark
In those days the apostles met Jesus
and reported to him
all that they had done and taught.
Then He spoke to them:
“Now come yourselves
to a lonely place
and rest there for a while.
For because of the many people coming and going, they didn’t even have time to eat.
They didn’t even have time to eat.
So they went away in the boat to a lonely place
to be alone.
But many saw them leaving and understood where he was going;
From all the cities people came on foot
and they went before them.
When Jesus disembarked,
he saw a great crowd.
He took pity on them,
for they were like sheep without a shepherd;
And he began to teach them at length.
