Joachim and Anna were Mary’s parents and therefore Jesus’ grandparents.
Invitation
May I draw your attention to
the daily gospel reading?
This invitation wants to share the joy of the gospel with you.
Everyone, without exception
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every day
Consideration
The final encounter with God will reveal who has done right and who has done wrong. The kingdom of God has two times: earthly time and heavenly time. In our time, sowing is done with a view to the final harvest. In the heavenly time, there is only a good harvest. We can prepare for the final encounter with God by being receptive to his Word and living it.
FIRST READING Jer 3:14-17
I will give you princes according to my heart, and all the tribes will be gathered in Jerusalem.
From the prophet Jeremiah
Thus speaks the Lord:
“Return, you sons of apostasy,
I am your Lord; I will gather you out of every city
and from all the tribes, and I will bring you to Zion.
“I will bring you out of every city and out of every tribe, and I will bring you to Zion.
Who will rule over you with knowledge and understanding.
“When in those days you shall become numerous
and become strong in the land.
-such is the word of the Lord of God.
Then it will no longer be said:
Where is the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord?
“That one disappears from memory,
It is no longer even remembered,
no one misses it,
another will never be made.
“In those days Jerusalem will be called the Throne of the Lord!
“All the tribes will be gathered
before the name of the Lord, in Jerusalem.
“They will no longer be stubborn in their anger.
Interludium Jer. 31, 10, 11-12ab, 13
The Lord will keep us
As a shepherd watches over his flock.
O people, hear the word of the Lord
proclaim it on distant shores.
He who once scattered Israel
will gather them, he will keep them
like a shepherd his flock.
Jacob will be delivered by the Lord
delivered from the clutches of the one who plundered him.
Rejoicing they will enter Zion again,
they will settle where the Lord blesses them.
The girls will dance a dance of joy
along with the boys and the grey-haired.
Then I will bring joy instead of mourning,
comfort and joy after all their sorrow.
HALLELUYA Ps. 25(24), 4c, 5a
Alleluia.
Teach me to know your ways, O Lord;
Lead me according to your word.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mt 13, 18-23
He who hears and understands the word also bears fruit.
From the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Matthew
At that moment, Jesus said to his disciples:
“You then ,
listen to the parable of the sower:
“As often as anyone hears the word of the Kingdom
hears but does not understand
the evil one comes and takes away what has been sown in his heart ;
and that which is sown on the way.
“The one sown on the rocky places is the one
who hears the word and immediately gathers it with joy:
but it has not taken root,
he lives for the moment,
and if
he is oppressed or persecuted because of the word,
he immediately falls.
“He who is sown among thorns is the one
who hears the word
but it is choked by the cares of the world
and the deceit of riches chokes him
and it becomes unfruitful.
“But he who is sown on good ground is the one who hears the word and understands it .
who hears the word and understands it and thereby bears fruit:
in one the yield is a hundredfold
in another sixtyfold, and in yet another thirtyfold.”
