Consideration
Ezekiel sometimes behaves very strangely, for example on the death of his beloved wife he omits the usual mourning. The intention is to provoke surprise and raise questions. The answer says: your beloved temple, the delight of your eyes, will disappear, and its inhabitants will not be able to hold the usual mourning.
FIRST READING Ez. 24, 15-24
Ezekiel will be a sign for you;
when he comes, you will have to do what he did.
From the prophet Ezekiel
The word of the Lord was spoken to me:
“Son of man, with a sudden stroke
I will now remove the lust from your eyes.
“Yet thou shalt not grieve,
thou shalt not weep nor shed tears.
“You can only sigh in silence,
but not weep.
“Button your handkerchief, put your shoes on your feet,
do not cover your beard
and don’t eat of the bread people bring you.”
In the morning I had spoken to the people
and in the evening my wife died.
The next morning, I did as I was told.
Then the people asked me:
“Don’t you want to explain to us ,
what these things you are doing there mean to us?”
I told them:
“The word of the Lord was spoken to me:
Say to the people of Israel :
Thus says the Lord God:
I am now going to desecrate my sanctuary ,
that power of which you are so proud
the lust of your eyes, the lust of your heart.
“And your sons and daughters, whom you have had to leave behind ,
shall fall by the sword.
“And then you will have to do, what I have now done:
do not cover your beard,
do not eat of the bread that people bring you,
wear your scarf around your head
and your shoes on your feet.
“You shall neither grieve nor weep.
“You shall mourn for yourselves
and you will sigh among yourselves.
“Ezekiel will be a sign for you;
When he comes, you will do what he did.
“Then you will know that I am the Lord.”
INTERLUDIO Deut. 32:18-19, 20, 21
Thou hast forsaken the rock that begot thee.
The rock that begot thee hast thou forsaken.
Forgetting the God who begot thee!
The Lord saw it and in wrath
he rejected his sons and daughters.
He spoke, My face I hide from them,
I want to see how this ends.
They are a depraved race
they are an untrustworthy people.
They defy me with their gods of nothing,
they mock me with poor creatures:
then I mock them also with a people of nothing,
then I mock them also with poor creatures.
ALLELUIA 1 Thess. 2:13
Alleluia.
Receive the word of God
not as the word of men
but as what it really is: the word of God.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mt 19:16-22
If you want to be perfect, sell what you own
and with it you will have treasure in heaven.
From the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew
Someone once came to Jesus and asked him:
“Master, what good deed must I do
to obtain eternal life?”
He said to him:
“Why do you want to know from Me what is good?
“There is only one good thing.
“If you want to enter into life ,
then keep the commandments”.
“Which ones” – he asked.
Jesus replied:
“The well-known ones :
Thou shalt not kill
Thou shalt not commit adultery
Thou shalt not steal,
thou shalt not bear false witness,
honour thy father and thy mother
And love thy neighbour as thyself.
“All these I have kept
– declared the young man.
wherein have I failed?”
Jesus spoke to him:
“If you want to be perfect ,
then go home,
sell what you have and give it to the poor;
With this you will possess treasure in heaven.
“And then come back and follow me.
But when the young man heard this advice
he went away saddened
For he possessed much.

Collapsing dreams
10. For decades, it seemed that the world had learned from so many wars and failures and was gradually moving towards different forms of integration.
For example, the dream emerged
of a united Europe, able to discover common roots, to discover and enjoy diversity.
We remind ourselves
to “the firm conviction of the founding fathers of European unity, who
desired a future based on the ability to work together
to overcome divisions and promote peace and community among all the peoples of the continent ”
Similarly, the effort of Latin American integration was strengthened and some
steps taken. In other countries and regions, attempts at reconciliation and rapprochement have borne fruit,
and others looked promising.
