the daily reading of the Gospel
This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
Everyone, without exception

Consideration
If anyone wants to glory, let him glory in the Lord. Paul wants to work this out in the contrast between the spirit that comes from the world and the Spirit that comes from God. He wants to speak to them about spiritual riches and spiritual opulence. By nature, man is not guided by God but trusts in his own ability. Trusting in oneself immediately carries the risk of rejecting God’s love and salvation.
FIRST READING 1 Cor. 2, 10b-16
An incurable man does not accept what comes from the Spirit of God.
Spirit of God; however, a spiritual man can judge everything.
From the holy apostle Paul’s first letter to the Christians in Corinth.
Brothers and sisters,
The Spirit of God searches everything,
even the deepest secrets of God.
Even among us humans, a person is known only by his own spirit, not by another.
By his own mind, not by another.
Thus, no one knows the essence of God.
However, we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that comes from God.
But the Spirit that comes from God.
He shows us
all that God has given us in his grace.
And about this we speak
not in words derived from human wisdom
but taught by the Spirit,
explaining spiritual gifts to spiritual people.
An incurable man does not accept
what comes from the Spirit of God ;
it is folly to him
he is incapable of understanding these things
for they can only be judged
in the light of the Spirit.
A spiritual man can judge everything ,
but no one judges him.
Who knows the Lord’s thoughts?
Who can advise him?
But our thinking is the thinking of Christ.
INTERLUDIUM Ps. 145(144), 8-9, 10-11, 12-13ab, 13bc-14
The Lord is just in all his ways.
The Lord is full of love and compassion,
patient and merciful.
The Lord cares for all people,
merciful in all he has done.
Your works will praise You, O Lord,
Thy godly ones shall praise Thee.
They praise the glory of Your government,
they proclaim Your power.
They make Your power known to men,
the splendour of Thy kingdom.
Thy kingdom is a kingdom for all ages
Thy reign is for all generations.
God is true in all His words
and holy in all He does.
The Lord upholds those who are in danger of falling,
he lifts up all who are in trouble.
ALLELUIA Jn 10:27
Alleluia.
My sheep listen to My voice, says the Lord
and I know them and they follow Me.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Lk 4:31-37
I know who You are, the Holy One of God.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Luke
At that time Jesus went to Capernaum, a city in Galilee, and taught the people on the Sabbath day.
And taught the people on the Sabbath day.
They were amazed by his teaching,
for he spoke with authority.
Once there was a man in the synagogue
who was possessed by an unclean spirit
and he cried out loudly:
‘Jesus of Nazareth ,
what do we have to do with each other?
‘Have You come to destroy us?
‘I know who You are, the Holy One of God.
Jesus added to him:
‘Be still and turn away from him.’
The evil spirit cast him among the people
and went away from him
without having harmed him.
They were all amazed and said to each other, ‘What is this word?
‘What is this word ,
which commands with authority and power the unclean spirits to go away?
To go away?’
And his fame spread through all the places in that region.

POPE FRANCIS
On brotherhood and social friendship
Conflict and fear
25. Wars, attacks, racial or religious persecution and a host of acts of violence against human dignity are
judged differently according to whether they serve more or less
mainly economic, interests.
What is true is that if it serves the interests of a powerful person, it is no longer true if it does not
suit their interests. These situations of violence ‘are sadly imposed in many regions of the world’,
and so much so that they take on the traits of what you might call a ‘war on terror’.
Of what you might call a ‘third world war in pieces’’.
