May I draw your attention to
The daily reading of the Gospel
This invitation seeks to convey the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, without exception
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of the Word of God.
Available every day
Word of openness
God invites us to his most beautiful table:
a table of fellowship,
of shared love and eternal life.
It is Jesus himself who takes the central place at the table.
He goes before us and shows us what it means to live and die for each other.
To live and die for each other.
Following him requires from us a commitment
and a concrete commitment.
After all, our faith translates into the love we give to people in need.
In the love we give to people in need.
Let us grow in love
and pray that God will help us do so.
FIRST READING Isa 50:5-9a
I offered my back to those who struck me.
From the prophet Isaiah
God, the Lord, has spoken to me
And I did not resist,
I did not flinch.
I gave my back to those who beat me
my cheeks to those who plucked out my beard
and my face I did not turn away
From those who smeared me and spat on me.
The Lord God will help me
therefore I will not be ashamed.
He who will acquit me is near.
Who is my adversary?
Let us stand together before the judgment seat!
Who is my adversary?
Let him come face to face with me!
The Lord God will help me:
Who will pronounce me guilty?
Psalm of response Ps 116A (114), 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 8-9
Refrain
I can live again in the eyes of God
In the land of the living.
I love the Lord, who hears me,
He hears my pleading voice;
He has listened to me
When I cried out to Him.
Death already had me in his snares
the net of the spirit realm fell on me,
I was overwhelmed with sorrows.
Then I called on the name of the Lord:
‘O Lord, save me from death!
The Lord is good and just,
Our God is merciful.
He offers protection to simple people;
He has saved me from distress.
He has snatched my soul from death,
He has wiped away the tears from my eyes,
He has saved me from stumbling.
I can live again in the eyes of God
in the land of the living.
SECOND READING James 2:14-18
Faith that does not translate into works is dead.
From the letter of the holy apostle James
Brothers and sisters,
What does it profit a man
to claim that he has faith
if he cannot show works?
Can such faith sometimes save him?
Suppose a brother or sister has no clothes and nothing to eat.
And nothing to eat
and one of you says:
‘Good luck with it!
‘Calm down and eat well!
and did nothing to meet his or her material needs?
What good would that do?
The same goes for faith
in itself,
without expressing itself in deeds,
death.
Perhaps someone will say:
‘You have the fact
and I have the faith,
then I will reply:
‘First show me
that you have faith if you cannot show facts;
then I will show you my faith by my actions.
Gospel verse Gal. 6, 14
Alleluia.
I want to glory in nothing else
than in the cross of our Lord
By which the world was crucified for me, and I for the world.
And I for the world.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL McK 8:27-35
You are the Christ … the Son of Man must suffer many things.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Mark
At that time Jesus went with his disciples
to the villages around Caesarea Philippi.
On the way, he asked his disciples the question:
‘Who do people say that I am?’.
They answered him
‘John the Baptist;
others say Elijah
and still others say you are one of the prophets’.
Then He asked them:
‘But you, who do you say that I am?’.
Peter replied:
‘You are the Christ’.
But He expressly forbade them
from speaking to anyone about this.
Then He began to teach them
that the Son of Man would have to suffer much
and would be rejected by the elders
the chief priests and the scribes,
but that after his execution,
he would rise again three days later.
He spoke these words without restraint.
Then Peter took Jesus aside
and began to speak seriously to him about it.
But when he turned around, Jesus looked at his disciples
and said to Peter in a stern tone
Go away, Satan!
Get behind me!
For you are being guided by human considerations
and not by what God wants’.
After He, besides His disciples, had also brought men to Himself
had also brought men to Himself,
He spoke to them:
‘Whoever wants to be My follower ,
must follow Me by denying himself
and taking up his cross.
‘For whoever wants to save his life
will lose it,
‘but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel,
shall save it.

Encyclical of
POPE FRANCISCUS
On brotherhood and social friendship
Without human dignity at the borders
37. From both some populist political regimes and liberal economic views, it is claimed
liberal economic views, it is claimed that the arrival of migrants
should be prevented at all costs from arriving migrants. At the same time
same time, they claim that aid to poor countries should be cut, so they hit rock bottom and decide to
and decide to apply austerity measures.
People do not realise that behind these abstract and difficult to sustain claims, so many lives are being lost.
So many lives are being torn apart. Many are
fleeing war, persecution, natural disasters. Others are
rightly ‘looking for opportunities for themselves or their families’. They
dream of a better future and want to create the conditions to make it happen.
make it a reality.
