May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?

This invitation wants to share with You the joy

can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.

Available every day

Consideration
Baptism and faith are closely linked in Paul’s thinking. It is baptism that unites us all in Christ. We have ‘put on’ Christ, as it were, like a garment. Christians clothe themselves with a new way of being in life; thereby they make Christ visible to others. In Him, all people become equal: ‘There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female’. All become brothers and sisters of one another in baptism. Today, consider the implications of this for our way of life.

FIRST READING             Gal. 3, 22-29

You are all children of God by faith.

From the letter of the holy apostle Paul to the Galatians

Brothers and sisters,

Scripture has subjected all mankind
to the power of sin,
so that those who believe in Jesus Christ share in the promise,
and this by virtue of their faith.

Before faith came
we were confined under the guardianship of the law,
awaiting the faith
that had yet to be revealed.
So the law was a kind of guardian for us
until Christ would come
and we would become free through faith.
But faith has come
and the task of the guardian has ended.

For ye are all children of God
by faith in Christ Jesus.
Baptism has united you all to Christ,
ye have put on Him as a garment.
There is now no question of Jew or Gentile,
slave or free, man or woman;
all together form one person in Christ Jesus.
But if ye belong to Christ ,
then thou art also Abraham’s ‘offspring’,
and therefore heirs by virtue of the promise.

INTRODUCTION               Ps. 105(104), 2-3, 4-5, 6-7

Forever God’s covenant remains in force.
Or : Alleluia.

Sing to Him and pluck the strings for Him,
Narrate all His wonderful works.
Go great on the holy Name of the Lord,
rejoice, ye who follow Him.

Abide in Him, in His mighty arm,
always seek His Face.
Never forget the miracles He did,
His signs and His promises.

Ye offspring of His servant Abraham,
ye sons of Jacob, his beloved.
The Lord, He is our only God,
what He decrees applies to all the earth.

ALLELUIA                    John 8, 12

Alleluia.
I am the light of the world, says the Lord,
whoever follows Me will possess the light of life.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL                 Lk. 11, 27-28

Happy the womb that bore You!
Many happy ones who listen to the word of God.

From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Luke

At that time Jesus was speaking.
Then a woman from the crowd raised her voice
and called out to Him:
‘Happy the womb that bore Thee
and the breasts that fed Thee.’
But He spoke :
‘Rather happy
who listen to the word of God and keep it.’

Encyclical of

POPE FRANCISCUS

On brotherhood and social friendship

64. With whom do you identify? This question is hard, direct and decisive.
Who among them do you resemble? We need to recognise the temptation
that surrounds us, that we are not interested in others, especially the poorest.
Let us be honest, we have grown in many ways, but we are
illiterate in guiding, nurturing and supporting the most
frail people and the weakest in our developed societies. We
have become accustomed to averting our gaze, going around them, ignoring the
ignoring situations, as long as they do not affect us directly.
