In the letter to the Ephesians, we read at a very high theological level. Not only Christ, but also the Church, which forms the body of which He is the head, is described in impressively cosmological terms. The community of faith (ekklesia) here is no longer the limited assembly of Christians, as described in the first epistles, but the whole of believers: the Church, in which the fullness of Christ ‘all in all’ is already fulfilled.

God has given Christ as Head
the Church, which is his body.
From the letter of the holy apostle Paul to the Christians in Ephesus
Brothers and sisters,
I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of your love for all the saints.
And of your love for all the saints.
For that too, I thank you without ceasing.
I remember you always in my prayers.
I implore the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of glory,
that He may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation
That you may truly know Him.
May He enlighten your inner eye
to see
how great is the hope to which He calls you,
how rich is the glory of His inheritance in the midst of the saints, and how great is His power in us who believe.
And how great is His power in us who believe.
The same power and might that He showed in Christ
when He raised Him from the dead
and set Him at His right hand in heaven,
above all dominions,
powers and might and highnesses
and above every name mentioned,
not only in this age, but also in the age to come.
God has put all things under His feet,
and exalted Himself above all things,
He has as His Head the Church
Which is His body,
the fullness of Him who accomplishes everything in everything.

but whoever blasphemes the Holy Spirit
will not be forgiven.
When you are brought before synagogues
authorities and rulers,
do not worry
how or what you will answer in your defence:
at that time the Holy Spirit will teach you what to say’.

71. The story of the Good Samaritan repeats itself: it seems increasingly clear that social and political
indifference turns many parts of the world into deserted roads where internal and international debates and the satire of the Good Samaritan become internal and international debates and the looting of opportunities leave many marginalised people by the roadside.
In his parable Jesus does not show alternative ways, for example, what would happen to the badly wounded man or the Samaritan.
If there had been room for anger or revenge in their hearts? He has
faith in the best of the human spirit, and with the parable he encourages
encourages him to accept love, alleviate suffering
and build a society worthy of the name.
