CONSIDERACIÓN
The Cathedral of the Pope was founded by Emperor Constantine around 320. It is considered the mother and head of all churches. This feast reminds us of the Church’s communion with Peter’s successor and invites us to work for communion with the faithful around the world. Jesus calls us to this: To form one community through, with and in him; for he is the cornerstone, the foundation of the Church, we are his stones. In joy and sorrow, in fear or with euphoric plans: Christians celebrate around their Lord Jesus. It is to Him that they turn their first attention.
FIRST READING Ez 47, 1-2,8-9,12
I saw water coming out of the temple.
From the prophet Ezekiel
In those days
an angel brought me
to the entrance of the temple of the Lord.
And there I saw under the threshold
water flowing out in an easterly direction;
for the front of the temple faces east.
The water first flowed south
along the wall
and then along the south side of the altar.
He led me through the northern gate
to the eastern outer gate
and to his right the water appeared again.
And the angel said:
‘This water flows
through the eastern part of the earth
towards the Arabah
It flows into the Salt Sea
and makes the waters of the sea healthy.
The river brings life
wherever it flows;
It teems with animals.
The sea is full of fish
because the river that flows into it
Makes the water healthy.
Life abounds everywhere.
On both banks of the river
grow all kinds of fruit trees;
their leaves do not wither
and they never lack fruit.
Every month they bear fruit
because the water that feeds them
comes from the sanctuary.
The fruits are edible
and the leaves have healing powers.
INTERLUDIUM Ps. 46(45), 2-3, 5-6, 8-9
A babbling brook refreshes the city of God,
the holy dwelling place of the Most High.
The Lord is our strength and refuge
a mighty help in trouble.
Therefore we fear not, though the earth bends down
Though the mountains fall into the sea.
A cool stream of water refreshes the city of God,
the holy dwelling place of the Most High.
That city remains unmoving because God is in it,
God is by its side when the day dawns.
The Lord of heavenly hosts is with us,
a sure fortress is the God of our Jacob.
Draw near and see what the Lord has done,
His wondrous works on earth.
GOSPEL Jn 2:13-22
He spoke of the temple of his body.
From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
John
As the feast of the Passover of the Jews approached, Jesus set out for Jerusalem.
Jesus went to Jerusalem.
In the temple, he met the vendors
of cattle, sheep and doves
and the money changers.
He made a scourge with ropes,
and drove them all out of the temple,
including the sheep and cattle;
He swept the coins of the moneychangers from the tables
and overthrew them.
And to the pigeon traders he said:
‘Away with all this!
‘Do not turn my Father’s house into a marketplace’.
His disciples remembered that it is written
Zeal for your house will consume me’.
The Jews addressed Him saying :
‘What sign can You show us
That You would do this?’
To which Jesus answered them:
‘Break down this temple
and in three days I will raise it up again’.
But the Jews remarked :
‘Forty-six years it took to build this temple;
Will you raise it again in three days?’.
Jesus, however, was talking about the temple of his body.
Therefore, when He rose from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had been raised from the dead.
His disciples remembered that He had said this,
and they believed in the scriptures
and in the word that Jesus had spoken.

Fratelli tutti
Encyclical of
POPE FRANCISCUS
On brotherhood and social friendship
92. The spiritual state of a human existence is determined by
love, which ultimately ‘becomes the criterion for the final judgment
on the value or lack of value of a human life’ .
However, there are believers who think their greatness consists in imposing their ideologies on others
or in the violent defence of the truth or in great demonstrations of the
truth or in great displays of violence. All believers must
recognise this: love comes first, what must not be compromised is love.
what must not be endangered is love; the greatest danger is not loving.
