Consideration
To the child Jesus all the precepts of the Law of Moses are fulfilled.Simeon embodies the hope and trust of this people that God will come, bringing comfort through his Anointed One. In Jesus, the child of simple people, Simeon sees that God keeps his word. Jesus is the one in whom God brings salvation and salvation, to his own people and for all people. In Jesus, the light of God breaks through. The sky shines and the earth rejoices (Ps96); Simeon too praises God. But towards Jesus, one cannot remain neutral. Whoever accepts Him and believes in Him must also live and love like Him. Only then will we know God and be in the light. Then we rise to life.
FIRST READING 1 Jn 2:12-17
He who does the will of God abides forever.
From the first letter of the holy apostle John
I write to you, children,
that your sins are forgiven
for the sake of the name of Jesus Christ.
I write unto you, fathers,
that you know Him
Who was there from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
that ye have overcome the evil one.
Again, children,
I write to you that ye know the Father.
I write unto you, fathers,
that ye know Him
Who was there from the beginning.
I write unto you, young men,
that ye are strong :
God’s word dwells in you
and ye have overcome the evil one.
Do not lose heart to the world
Or to the things of the world!
If anyone loves the world
the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world
– the lust of lust
and the lust of the eyes
and the haughtiness of money –
it does not come from the Father
but from the world.
And that world passes away
with all its covetousness,
but he who does the will of God
abides forever.
INTERLUDIUM Ps. 96(95), 7-8a, 8b-9, 10
The sky shines and the earth rejoices.
Homage the Lord, all tribes and nations,
hail the Lord for his glory and power,
hail the Lord for the glory of His Name.
Bring Him your sacrifice and enter His court,
go and worship Him in holy garb.
Tremble before the Lord, all you people of the earth,
Say to one another: The Lord reigns!
Unwaveringly He created the earth,
He governs the nations with equity.
ALLELUIA Hebrews 1, 1-2
Alleluia.
After God had once spoken many times and in many different ways
had spoken to our fathers through the prophets,
He has now, at the end of time,
spoken to us through the Son.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Lk. 2, 36-40
Hanna speaks of Jesus to all who are expecting the deliverance of Jerusalem
expect.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Luke
In those days there was a prophetess, Hanna,
a daughter of Fanuel, from the tribe of Asher.
She was highly aged
and after her youth she had lived with her husband for seven years.
Now she was a widow of eighty-four.
She stayed in the temple constantly
and served God day and night through fasting and prayer.
At this time she approached ,
thanked God and spoke of the child to all
who were expecting the deliverance of Jerusalem.
When they had fulfilled all the precepts of the Law of the Lord
they returned to Galilee, to their city of Nazareth.
The child grew up and increased in strength ;
it was filled with wisdom
and the grace of God rested on Him.

On brotherhood and social friendship
The couleur locale
143. The solution is not an openness that renounces its own treasure.
Just as there is no dialogue with the other without personal identity, so there is
no openness between peoples if it is not based on love for the
country, the people, its own cultural characteristics. I do not meet the other,
when I have no foundation in which I am firmly rooted, because I have
on that foundation can receive the gift of the other and offer him something authentic.
It is only possible to welcome people who are different
and recognise their unique contribution, if I am firmly attached
to my people and their culture. Everyone loves their own land and has
a special responsibility and care for it and cares about his own|
land, just as everyone should love his own house and make sure
that it does not collapse, as its neighbours will not. Also
the welfare of the world requires each one to protect and
love. Conversely, the consequences of one country’s calamity
will have their repercussions on the whole planet. This is based on the positive
meaning of ownership: I guard and cherish something I
own, so that it can be a contribution to the well-being of all.
