Invitation
May I draw your attention to
The daily reading of the Gospel
This invitation seeks to convey the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, without exception
can experience that joy by opening his or her heart
to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every day.
Consideration
The author often starts from a saying and works it out for the people of his time in different verses (1-6). Tribulation is a test for man. His viewpoint is undoubtedly traditional. In this life, good is rewarded and evil is punished. In hell, there is no hope and all are equal. But as a good observer, the author is aware that he is not always right and often does not know how to deal with it (see 11, 26-28).
FIRST READING Sir. 2, 1-11
Prepare for temptation
From the book of Sirach.
My son, when you approach to serve God, the Lord ,
then prepare yourself for temptation.
Stand upright, be steadfast
and do not rejoice in times of adversity.
Cling to Him and do not turn away,
in the end you will be exalted.
Accept everything that happens to you;
Be meek in the vicissitudes of your humble existence.
For gold is tried in the fire
and those whom God pleases in the furnace of humiliation;
(trust God in sickness and poverty).
Trust in Him and He will help you,
Walk on the straight path and hope in Him.
You who fear the Lord, wait for His mercy,
Do not stray, you may fall.
You who fear the Lord, trust in Him,
and your reward will not escape you.
You who fear the Lord, hope for good,
eternal joy and mercy;
(His retribution is an eternal gift accompanied by joy).
Look at the generations of old and see:
Who trusted in the Lord and was put to shame?
Who persevered in his fear and was forsaken?
Or who cried out to Him and was not heard?
Therefore, the Lord is merciful and gracious;
He forgives sins and saves in hard times.
Interludium Ps 37(36), 3-4, 18-19, 27-28,39-40
Entrust your way to the Lord,
Trust in him, he will take care of it.
Trust in the Lord and do what is right
Then you will live safely in your land.
Seek your happiness with the Lord,
He gives what your heart desires.
The Lord takes care of the lives of the godly,
their inheritance lasts forever.
They are not timid in times of disaster,
but are content in times of famine.
Turn away from evil and do what is right,
then you can live here forever;
For God loves righteousness,
He does not forsake His faithful.
The salvation of the godly comes from the Lord;
He is their refuge in hard times.
The Lord stands by them and delivers them,
He saves those who turn to Him.
Alleluia James 1, 21
Alleluia.
Accept with meekness the word of God
which is planted in you
and it has power
To save your souls.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mk. 9, 30-37
The Son of Man is betrayed.
Whoever wants to be first
must be the last of all.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark
After the transfiguration on the mountain
Jesus and his disciples went forth from there
and passed through Galilee;
But he did not want anyone to know,
for he taught his disciples.
He said to them:
‘The Son of Man has been betrayed into the hands of men
and they will kill him ;
but three days after his death he will rise’.
They did not understand these words
but refrained from questioning Him.
They came to Capernaum
and once inside the house He questioned them:
‘What did you discuss on the way?’.
But they remained silent, for they had
been quarrelling over the question of
who was the greatest.
Then he sat down,
called the 12 together and said to them:
‘If anyone wants to be first
he must be the last of all
and be the servant of all.
He took a child and put him in their midst;
He embraced him and said to them:
‘Whoever takes such a child as this in My Name
takes Me; and whoever takes Me does not take Me but
does not take Me, but the One who sent Me’.

Encyclical of
POPE FRANCISCUS
On brotherhood and social friendship
200. Dialogue is often confused with something very different: a feverish
exchange of opinions on social networks, often driven by not always reliable information
often fuelled by unreliable media reports. These are
merely monologues running in parallel and perhaps imposing themselves on the
attention of others by their loud and aggressive tone. But monologues
oblige no one, so their content is often opportunistic and contradictory.
