Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with You the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every day.
CONSIDERATION
Wisdom is not to be taken for granted.One must seek it (4, 11-12), retain it (13), serve it (14), listen to it and heed it (15). At first it torments the one who wants to acquire it, but eventually it gives itself up and reveals its gems. Woe to him who has acquired her and gives her up again.
FIRST READING Sir. 4, 11-19
He who loves wisdom loves the Lord.
From the Book of Ecclesiasticus.
Wisdom brings her sons to prominence
And cares for those who seek her.
Whoever loves her, loves life;
Those who seek her from the morning are filled with joy.
He who holds her will inherit honour;
Where the wise enter, the Lord gives blessing.
Those who serve wisdom fulfil their service for the Holy One;
Whoever loves her, loves the Lord.
He who listens to her shall judge nations;
Whoever heeds her, shall dwell in safety.
Whoever trusts in her shall inherit her,
and his descendants shall possess her permanently.
At first she deals strangely with him;
anxiety and fearfulness she brings upon him;
she torments him with her demands,
until she trusts him completely;
but she continues to try him with her commands.
Then she will turn directly to him and gladden him
and reveal her mysteries to him.
If he strays, she abandons him
and abandons him to the grip of his fall.
INTERLUDIUM Ps 119(118), 165, 168, 171, 172, 174, 175
Those who love your law, Lord, live in peace.
Those who love your law live in peace,
they do not stumble on their way.
I keep what You command and prescribe,
for all my ways are known to Thee.
A song of praise must come from my lips
Because Thou dost teach me Thy decrees.
Thy sayings must my tongue sing,
For all thy commandments are good.
My salvation I seek only with Thee, Lord,
my joy I find in Thy law.
May my spirit live and always praise Thee
and lean on what You determine.
Alleluia 1 Petr. 1,25
Alleluia.
The word of the Lord remains for ever ;
and this word is the message
proclaimed to you in the gospel.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mk. 9:38-40
He who is not against us is for us.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark
At that time John said to Jesus:
‘Master, we have someone who does not follow us,
cast out devils in your name,
and we tried to prevent him from doing it
because he was not a follower of ours.’
But Jesus said:
‘Do not prevent him,
for one who does a miracle in My Name
will not so graciously speak unfavourably of Me.
He who is not against us is for us.’

Encyclical of
POPE FRANCISCUS
On brotherhood and social friendship
201. The resonant dissemination of facts and appeals in the media
in fact often precludes opportunities for dialogue, because it allows everyone to
allows their own ideas, interests and choices to be maintained intact and unsubtle
upholding others’ mistakes as excuses. The habit
prevails to quickly discredit the opponent by giving him
demeaning characterisations instead of engaging in an open and respectful
dialogue in which one tries to reach a synthesis
that reaches further. Worst of all, this language, common in the context
of the media in a political campaign, has become so widespread that
everyone uses it on a daily basis. The debate is often manipulated by
certain interests that have more power and unfairly
try to influence public opinion in their favour. I am not referring
only to the serving government, because that manipulative power in
the field of economics, politics, media, religion or can be of any
nature can be. Sometimes one justifies or excuses it
when its dynamics conform to one’s own economic or
ideological interests, but sooner or later it turns against those same
interests.
