FIRST READING                Acts 14:21-27
They told the congregation what God had brought about with their cooperation.

From the Acts of the Apostles

In those days, Paul and Barnabas returned to Lystra, Ikonium and Antioch.
There they confirmed the disciples in their good condition,
urged them to persevere in the faith
and said that through many afflictions
into the kingdom of God.
In each congregation they
after prayer and fasting, appointed elders for them,
and entrusted them to the Lord,
in whom they now believed.
They travelled through Pisídia to Pamphylia,
preached the word in Perge
and reached Attália.
There they set sail for Antiochíë,
whence they,
entrusted to God’s grace,
departed for the work they had accomplished.
After their arrival, they called the congregation together
and told all that God had accomplished with their cooperation
had brought about,
and how He had opened to the Gentiles the gate of faith.

You I want to praise, my God and King.

The Lord is full of love and compassion,
longsuffering and most gracious.
The Lord is concerned for every man,
merciful to all that He made.

Your works will praise You, Lord,

They praise the glory of Your rule,
thy power they proclaim.

They make Your power known to men,
the splendour of thy kingdom.
Your kingdom is a kingdom for all ages,
your rule is for every generation.

SECOND READING             Apok 21:1-5a
God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.

From the Revelation of the holy apostle John
I, John, saw a new heaven and a new earth;
the first heaven and the first earth were gone
and the sea no longer existed.
And I saw the holy City, the new Jerusalem,
of God coming down from heaven,
beautiful as a bride adorned before her husband.
Then I heard a mighty voice calling from the throne:
“Behold here God’s dwelling among men!
He will dwell with them.
They will be His people
and He, God-with-him, will be their God.
and He will wipe away all tears from their eyes,
and death will be no more;
no mourning, no weeping, no sorrow shall there be,
for all the old is passed away.”
And He who is seated on the throne spoke:
“Behold, I make all things new.”

A new commandment I give unto you, saith the Lord:
ye must love one another, as I have loved you.

At that time, Jesus said to the disciples:
“Now the Son of Man is glorified
and God is glorified in Him.
If God is glorified in Him
god will also glorify Him in Himself,
yes, He will soon glorify Him.
Little children, only a short time will I be with you.
A new commandment I give unto you: ye must love one another;
as I have loved you,
so you also must love one another.
From this all will be able to understand
that ye are my disciples:
If ye keep love among yourselves.”

281. A path of peace is possible between different religions.
The starting point must be the gaze of God. For “God does not look with the
eyes, God looks with the heart. And the love of God is the same for every
person, whatever religion he has. And if he is an atheist, it is the same
love. When the last day will come and there will be enough light on earth
to see things as they are, we will experience different surprises!”
