Sunday – Holy Trinity

Trinity means that the one God includes three persons.

Invitation

May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?

This invitation wants to share with You the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.

Available every day.

Introduction

The high feast of the Holy Trinity makes it clear
that God does not want to remain at a distant distance
but wants to dwell among us and love us.
We come to know Him
as the wisdom at the beginning of creation,
as the nearness in a human being like us
and as the animating inspiration for our community.
Today we discover anew
the awesome wonder of God’s triune Name.
Let us praise and thank Him,
because He always kindly cares for us
and never abandons us.

FIRST READING          Spr. 8:22-31
Wisdom was formed long before the beginning of the earth.

From the book of Proverbs

Thus speaks the Wisdom of God:
The LORD created me before all that exists,
before all that He made of old.
From eternity I was formed,
long before the beginning of the earth.
Before there were oceans, I was born,
before there were springs, overflowing with water.
Before mountains were placed ,
and before hills, I was born.
The earth He had not yet created with its plains,
nor the precious resources in her womb.
When He founded the heavens I was there,
and when He drew a circle around the sea of the world.
When He fastened the clouds above,
and set the springs in the deep,
when He showed the sea its limits,
that the waters might not overflow its banks,
when He laid the foundations for the earth,
i was at the side of the Artist,
and was his pet, day by day,
and I played before Him all the time.
I played over the surface of his earth,
and it was my pleasure to be with people.

Responsorial   Ps. 8:4-5, 6-7, 8-9

Refrain
Lord, our Lord, how awesome is your Name on earth!

When I look at the sky, the artwork of Thy fingers,
when I see moon and stars, which Thou hast put there.
Ah, what is man then, that Thou dost look upon him,
the child of man, that Thou dost so care for him?

Not much less than an angel hast Thou created him,
crowned him with glory and with honour.
All thy creation subjected to him,
laid all things at his feet.

Cattle and sheep everywhere,
also the wild animals in the fields.
Birds in the sky and fish in the sea,
all that teems in the oceans.

SECOND READING    Rom. 5:1-5
To God through Christ in the love of the Spirit.

From the letter of the holy apostle Paul to the Christians of Rome

Brothers and sisters,

Justified by faith
we live in peace with God
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
It is he who through faith has opened to us the access
to that grace in which we stand;
through him also we may boast
of our hope in the glory of God.
More than that,
we even take pride in our trials,
knowing that tribulation leads to perseverance,
perseverance to tested virtue
and these again to hope.
And hope is not disappointed,
for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts
through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Verse for the gospel           Cf. Apok. 1,8

Alleluia.
Glory to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
God who is, who was and who is to come.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL            John 16, 12-15
All that the Father has is Mine. The Spirit will proclaim to you what He has received from Me.

From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John

In his farewell address, Jesus said to his disciples:
“Still much have I to say to you ,
but ye cannot yet bear it now.
However, when He comes, the Spirit of truth,
he will bring you to the full truth;
He will not speak from Himself
but speak all that He hears
and announce to you the things to come.
He will glorify Me because He will proclaim to you
what He has received from Me.
All that the Father has is Mine.”
Therefore I said He will proclaim to you
what He has received from Me.

Encyclical of

POPE FRANCISCUS

On caring for the common home

22. These problems are closely linked to the disposable culture that
affects both the marginalised and things that quickly turn into trash.
For example, let us realise that most of the paper produced is thrown
away and not recycled. With difficulty, we acknowledge that the
functioning of natural ecosystems is exemplary: plants synthesise nutrients that
feed the herbivores; these in turn feed the carnivores, which
provide significant amounts of organic waste, which gives rise
to a new generation of crops. In contrast, the industrial system has at
the end of the production and consumption cycle, it does not have the ability to
developed to process waste and reuse residual resources.
It has not yet succeeded in introducing a cycle of production that will provide
safeguards resources for all and for future generations, and
that requires to minimise the use of non-renewable resources, to
limit consumption, reduce consumption, maximise the efficiency of the
reuse and recycle.
Addressing this issue would be a way to counter the throwaway culture
counter, which ultimately harms the entire planet, but we see that
progress in this direction is still very scarce.
