Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with You the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every day.
Consideration
The disciples are sent to announce the coming of the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. With the coming of the heavenly kingdom, the light of truth breaks through, liberating people from error. Precisely because they are set free, they will be able to walk in that light. The Lord brings comfort, encouragement and hope. After all, no one ever knocks on His door in vain. Nor do we – who among us has not been hurt?
FIRST READING Isa; 30, 19-21,23-26
The Lord will be gracious to those who call to Him.
From the Prophet Isaiah
Thus speaks the Lord,
the holy God of Israel :
“People of Zion who dwell in Jerusalem ,
thou shalt weep no more :
“The Lord will be gracious to you ,
as soon as He hears your lamentation ;
He will answer thee ,
as soon as He hears thy cry.
“He will give you the bread of tribulation
and the water of distress.
“Thy teacher shall no longer hide,
your eyes will see the Guide.
“And your ears will hear a voice behind you saying :
, This is the way, follow it, whither it may lead you.’
“The Lord will make it rain for the seed
which thou sowest in thy fields ;
and the grain that thy land brings forth
shall be nourishing and plentiful.
“On that day your flocks shall graze on uninterrupted pastures.
“And the oxen and donkeys that plough thy land
shall eat fodder mixed with salt
and purified with wan and gaff.
“From all high mountains and all high hills
shall water flow down in streams,
on the day of the great slaughter,
the day when the fortresses fall.
“Then the light of the moon will be like the light of the sun,
and the light of the sun will be seven times as strong
on the day when the Lord binds up the wounds of his people
and He heals the wounds He has beaten.”
INTERLUDIUM Ps. 147(146), 1-2, 3-4, 5-6
Happy all who expect the Lord (Isa 30:18).
or : Alleluia.
Now praise the Lord, it is good to praise Him,
praise our God, all praise is due to Him.
The Lord builds up the city of Jerusalem,
gathers Israel from the scattering.
Broken hearts He heals again,
He heals all bleeding wounds.
He who knows the number of the stars
and calls each one by its name.
Exalted is He, our Lord, and all-powerful,
his wisdom is limitless.
The Lord exalts the humiliated
but sinners He casts to the earth.
ALLELUIA Isa 55.6
Alleluia.
Seek the Lord, now that He allows Himself to be found ;
call on Him, now that He is near.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mt 9:35-10, 1.5-8
Seeing the crowd, Jesus is moved by compassion.
From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Matthew
In those days Jesus went around all the towns and villages,
where He taught in their synagogues
and proclaimed the Good News of the Kingdom
and healed all diseases and ailments.
At the sight of those crowds of people
he was moved by compassion,
because they lay waste
like sheep without a shepherd.
Then He spoke to His disciples :
“The harvest may be great
but labourers are few.
“Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest
send labourers to reap.”
He called his 12 disciples to him and gave them power
to cast out the unclean spirits
and heal all diseases and ailments.
These 12 Jesus sent out with the command :
“Do not go among the Gentiles
and do not enter a city of Samaritans ;
rather you must go
to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
“Proclaim on your journey :
The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
“Heal the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse lepers and cast out devils.
“For nothing ye have received, for nothing ye must give.”

Laudato Si
Encyclical of
POPE FRANCISCUS
On caring for the common home
206. A change in lifestyle could put healthy pressure
on those who wield political, economic and social
power. That happens, when consumer organisations achieve
that by boycotting certain products, companies are
induced to change their behaviour and force them to reduce their burden on the
environment and reconsider their production methods. The fact is that
when social pressure affects the profits of companies,
they feel compelled to change their production methods.
This reminds us of the social responsibility
of the consumer. “Buying is at all times not only an economic ,
but also a moral act”. Therefore, “the issue of
environmental pollution challenges the behaviour of each of us”.
