Like his holy bride Mary, St Joseph was of the house of David
lineage and thus also of royal blood.

Consideration
What may we hope for? Anxious as we are, we may – like the disciples of old – think that after Jesus’ death we were left to our own devices, in a God-forsaken and broken world. But nothing could be further from the truth: Jesus has already set us on our way, namely as children of his Father, as his brothers and sisters. That is the secret of Easter, the mystery we celebrate in this Eucharist; that the Father is present, here and now. That we dare to believe this and draw support and strength from it makes us, despite our life in a gloomy and broken world, true people of Easter.
FIRST READING Acts 13, 26–33
God has fulfilled the promise by raising Jesus from the dead.
From the Acts of the Apostles
In those days, when Paul had come to Antioch in Pisidia,
he said in the synagogue:
“Men and brothers,
sons of the house of Abraham and you who fear God:
this word of salvation has been sent to us.
“For the inhabitants of Jerusalem and their rulers
did not recognise Jesus but condemned him,
they fulfilled the words of the prophets
which are read every Sabbath.
“Although they could find no legal grounds
for the death penalty
they demanded of Pilate that He be put to death.
“When they had carried out everything written about Him,
they took Him down from the cross
and laid Him in a tomb.
“But God raised Him from the dead
and for many days He appeared to those
who had accompanied Him from Galilee to Jerusalem.
“These are now His witnesses to the people.
“We, then, proclaim to you the good news,
that God has fulfilled the promise
made to the fathers
to us, their children,
by raising Jesus,
as it is also written in the second psalm:
‘You are my Son,
today I have begotten you.”
RESPONSORAL Ps. 2, 6–7, 8–9, 10–11
You are my Son,
I have begotten you this day.
or: Alleluia.
I myself have appointed my King
on Zion, my holy mountain.
This is the decree of the Lord:
He said to me: ‘You are my Son,
today I have begotten you.
Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations as Your inheritance,
and the earth as your possession.
Break their resistance with an iron sceptre,
shatter them like pots of clay.
Be wise now, you princes,
rulers of the earth, know what you are doing!
Serve the Lord with reverence,
kiss His feet with trembling.
ALLELUIA
Alleluia.
Christ rose from the grave,
He who died for us on a cross.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL John 14, 1-6
I am the way, the truth and the life.
From the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according toSt
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
“You believe in God;
believe also in me.
“In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.
“If it were not so
I would have told you,
for I am going to prepare a place for you.
“And when I have gone and prepared a place for you
I will come back to take you to be with Me,
so that you too may be where I am.
“You know where I am going
and you know the way there.”
Thomas said to Him:
“Lord, we do not know where You are going:
how then can we know the way?”
Jesus answered him:
“I am the way
the truth and the life.
“No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Encyclical of
POPE FRANCIS
On Care for Our Common Home
Technology: creativity and power
102. Humanity has entered a new era in which the
power of technology places us at a crossroads. We are the
heirs to two centuries of tremendous waves of change: the
steam engine, the railway, the telegraph, electricity, the car, the
airplane, the chemical industries, modern medicine,
computer science and, more recently, the digital revolution, robotics, biotechnologies
and nanotechnologies. It is right to rejoice in these advances
and to be enthusiastic about the vast possibilities
that these constant innovations open up for us, because
“science and technology are a magnificent product of human
creativity, which is a gift from God”. The transformation of nature for
useful purposes has been a hallmark of the human
race and thus technology “brings to expression the tension of the human spirit
in the gradual overcoming of certain material
limitations”. Technology has limited and combated countless evils that afflicted mankind
. We cannot help but acknowledge the progress achieved,
particularly in medicine, engineering and the field of communication
and be grateful for it. And how could we not be grateful
for all the efforts of many scientists and engineers
who have developed alternatives for sustainable development?
