Saint Boniface was an Anglo-Saxon missionary born in 672 or 675.
He was murdered in Dokkum on 5 June 754 or 755.

Consideration
The first part of the reflection warns that not only Paul, but every church leader, indeed every believer, will have to endure opposition and persecution. The second part suggests that Timothy was taught Christian doctrine not only by Paul, but from childhood by his family. The Holy Scriptures naturally refer to the Old Testament, but read from a Christian perspective.
FIRST READING 2 Tim. 3, 10–17
All who wish to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
From the second letter of the holy Apostle Paul to Timothy
Beloved,
You, however, have followed me faithfully:
in my teaching, my way of life, my plans,
in my faith, patience, love and perseverance;
also in the persecutions and sufferings
such as those that befell me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra.
What persecutions I have had to endure!
But the Lord has rescued me from them all.
Indeed, all who wish to live godly lives in Christ Jesus
will be persecuted,
whilst evildoers and charlatans will go from bad to worse,
You, however, must hold fast to the teaching you received in faith.
Remember those who taught you,
and how, from childhood, you have been familiar with the Holy Scriptures;
from them you can draw the wisdom that leads to salvation,
Every scripture inspired by God is also intended
to teach the truth and refute error,
to correct behaviour,
and to train people in righteous living,
so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for his task,

Whilst teaching in the temple, Jesus once asked:
“How can the scribes say
that the Messiah is the Son of David?
“David himself said, moved by the Holy Spirit:
The Lord said to my Lord:
‘Sit at my right hand
until I have put your enemies under your feet.’
‘If David himself calls Him Lord,
how can He be his son?’

137. Since everything is closely interconnected and the current
problems call for a perspective that takes into account all aspects of the
global crisis, I propose that we now pause to reflect on the
various elements of an integral ecology that clearly encompasses human
