Me permito llamar su atención sobre
la lectura diaria del Evangelio

Esta invitación quiere compartir contigo la alegría
del Evangelio. Todos, sin excepción,
puede experimentar esa alegría abriendo su corazón
al poder sanador de la palabra de Dios.

Disponible todos los días.

Consideración

Cuanto más leemos en las Escrituras, más parece que la acción de Jesús se enmarca en una larga tradición. Lo que Dios comenzó en el pueblo de Israel se continúa a través de Jesús de Nazaret. En él, vemos actuar al Padre.Desde tiempos inmemoriales, el cristianismo proclama el doble mandamiento del amor a Dios y al prójimo. No pueden separarse. Ningún otro mandamiento es más preeminente que estos dos. La primera carta de Juan lo expresa con mayor claridad. No hay más que un mandamiento, porque nadie puede pretender amar a Dios si no ama a su prójimo.

PRIMERA LECTURA               I Juan 5, 5-13

De la primera carta del santo apóstol Juan

Amigos,
Nadie puede vencer al mundo, sino el que cree
que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios.
Es Él quien ha venido con agua y sangre,
Jesucristo.
Él ha venido
no sólo con agua, sino con agua y sangre.
El Espíritu lo atestigua
porque el Espíritu es la verdad.
Porque hay tres testigos
el Espíritu,
el agua
y la sangre
y estos tres concuerdan.
Si aceptamos el testimonio de los hombres
entonces ciertamente el de Dios
que tiene mucha más autoridad; Dios mismo garantiza este testimonio
que ha dado acerca de su Hijo.
Quien cree en el Hijo de Dios
lleva en su corazón el testimonio de Dios.
Quien no da fe a Dios
le hace mentiroso, pues se niega a aceptar
el testimonio de Dios sobre Su Hijo.
Y este es el significado del testimonio :
Dios nos ha dado la vida eterna en Su Hijo.
Quien tiene al Hijo
ha encontrado la vida ;
El que no tiene al Hijo de Dios
tampoco tiene vida.
Os he escrito esta carta
para convenceros de que tenéis vida eterna
todos los que creéis de verdad en el Hijo de Dios.

se arrojó a tierra y le suplicó :
«Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme.
Jesús extendió la mano, lo tocó y le dijo :
«Quiero, queda limpio».
E inmediatamente la lepra desapareció.
Jesús le prohibió que se lo contara a nadie.
«Pero ,
– así que Él dijo –
ve y muéstrate al sacerdote
y sacrifica por tu purificación, como ha prescrito Moisés
para darles una prueba».
En círculos cada vez más amplios la gente hablaba de Él
y grandes multitudes acudían a escucharle
y ser curados de sus males.
Él se retiraba cada vez a la soledad para orar.

154. Para hacer posible el desarrollo de una comunidad mundial
capaz de establecer la fraternidad a partir de
pueblos y naciones que vivan en amistad social, se necesita la mejor política
que esté al servicio del verdadero bien común. Desgraciadamente, la
política actual adopta a menudo formas que obstaculizan el camino hacia un mundo diferente.

Consideration

The more we read in Scripture, the more it appears that the action of Jesus frames in a long tradition. What God began in the people of Israel is continued through Jesus of Nazareth. In him, we see the Father at work.
From time immemorial, Christianity has proclaimed the double commandment of love of God and love of neighbour. They cannot be separated. No other commandment is more preeminent than these two. The first letter of John puts this even more sharply. There is only one commandment, for no one can claim to love God if he does not love his neighbour.

FIRST READING              I John 5, 5-13

From the first letter of the holy apostle John

Friends,
No one can overcome the world but he who believes
That Jesus is the Son of God.
It is He who has come with water and blood,
Jesus Christ.
He has come
not by water alone but by water and by blood.
The Spirit testifies it
because the Spirit is truth.
For there are three witnesses,
the Spirit,
the water
and the blood
and these three agree.
If we accept the testimony of men
then certainly that of God,
which has so much greater authority ; God Himself guarantees this testimony
which He has given concerning His Son.
Whoever believes in the Son of God
carries God’s testimony in his heart.
He who does not give faith to God
makes Him a liar, for he refuses
to accept God’s own testimony concerning His Son.
And this is the meaning of testimony :
God has given us eternal life in His Son.
He who has the Son
has found life ;
He who does not have the Son of God
neither has life.
I have written this letter to you
to convince you that you have eternal life,
all of you who truly believe in the Son of God.

peoples and nations living in social friendship, the best policy is needed

Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging
‘Liefde laat geen ruimte voor vrees’, zegt de eerste lezing. ‘Vreest niet”, zegt Jezus tot de bange apostelen in de storm. Dit thema bindt beide lezingen samen. God is in Jezus God-met-ons. Zijn liefde bant alle vrees. Het gaat hier niet om ziekte of ongevallen, om mislukking of tegenslag. Van al deze dingen blijft de gelovige niet gespaard. Het gaat over het diepste waarover een mens spreken kan: de ervaring dat God ons lief heeft over de dood heen. Wie vertrouwt op de Heer en zich toelegt op de liefde tot Hem en de naaste zal het woord van Jezus horen: ‘Wees gerust. Ik ben het. Vreest niet’. Als God mij zo liefheeft, voor welke dingen ben ik dan angstig? Welke zorgen maak ik me? Hoor ik de Heer tegen mij zeggen: ‘Vreest niet’? Vertrouw ik voor de volle 100% in Jezus? Indien niet, wat houd mij dan tegen?

EERSTE LEZING                I Joh. 4, 19-5, 4

Wie God liefheeft moet ook zijn broeder liefhebben.

Uit de eerste brief van de heilige apostel Johannes

Vrienden,

Wij hebben lief, omdat God ons eerst heeft liefgehad.
Maar als iemand zegt dat hij God liefheeft
terwijl hij zijn broeder haat,
is hij een leugenaar.
Want als hij zijn broeder die hij ziet niet liefheeft,
kan hij niet God liefhebben
die hij nooit heeft gezien.
Dit gebod hebben wij dan ook van Hem gekregen :
wie God liefheeft
moet ook zijn broeder liefhebben.
Iedereen die gelooft dat Jezus de verlosser is
is een kind van God.
Welnu, wie de vader liefheeft
bemint ook het kind.
Willen wij God liefhebben en zijn geboden onderhouden
dan moeten wij ook Gods kinderen liefhebben.
Dat is onze maatstaf.
God beminnen wil zeggen
zijn geboden onderhouden,
en zijn geboden zijn niet moeilijk te onderhouden
want ieder die uit God geboren is
overwint de wereld.
En het wapen waarmee wij de wereld overwinnen
is geen ander dan ons geloof.

Hem huldigen alle vorsten der aarde
en alle volkeren dienen Hem.

Mijn God verleen de koning uw wijsheid,

Hij trad nu op als leraar in hun synagogen
en werd algemeen geprezen.
Zo kwam Hij ook in Nazaret, waar Hij was grootgebracht.
Hij ging volgens zijn gewoonte op de sabbatdag naar de synagoge
en stond op om voor te lezen.
Ze reikten Hem de boekrol van de profeet Jesaja aan.
Hij opende de rol
en vond de plaats waar geschreven stond :

De geest des Heren is over mij gekomen,
omdat Hij mij gezalfd heeft.
Hij heeft mij gezonden
om aan armen de Blijde Boodschap te brengen,
aan gevangenen hun vrijlating bekend te maken
en aan blinden dat zij zullen zien ;
om verdrukten te laten gaan in vrijheid,
om een genadejaar af te kondigen van de Heer.

Daarop rolde Hij het boek dicht,
gaf het terug aan de dienaar en ging zitten.
In de synagoge waren aller ogen gespannen op Hem gevestigd.
Toen begon Hij hen toe te spreken :
“Het Schriftwoord dat gij zojuist gehoord hebt
is thans in vervulling gegaan.”
Allen betuigden Hem hun instemming
en verbaasden zich,
dat woorden, zo vol genade uit zijn mond vloeiden.

Over broederschap en sociale vriendschap

153. Er zijn machtige landen en grote ondernemingen die profiteren van
dit isolement en er de voorkeur aan geven te onderhandelen met ieder land
afzonderlijk. Voor kleine of arme landen opent zich daarentegen de mogelijkheid
regionale overeenkomsten met de buren te sluiten die het mogelijk
maken als een blok te onderhandelen en kunnen voorkomen dat zij
marginale segmenten worden die van de grote machten afhankelijk zijn.
Tegenwoordig is geen enkele geïsoleerde staat in staat het algemeen
welzijn van zijn eigen bevolking te waarborgen.

Consideración

El amor no deja lugar al miedo», dice la primera lectura. No temáis », dice Jesús a los apóstoles asustados por la tempestad. Este tema une ambas lecturas. Dios en Jesús es Dios-con-nosotros. Su amor destierra todo temor. No se trata de enfermedades o accidentes, fracasos o desgracias. De todo esto no se libra el creyente. Se trata de lo más profundo de lo que puede hablar un ser humano: la experiencia de que Dios nos ama más allá de la muerte. Quien confía en el Señor y se dedica a amarle a Él y al prójimo, oirá la palabra de Jesús: ‘ Estad tranquilos. Soy yo. No temas». Si Dios me ama tanto, ¿qué cosas temo? ¿Qué preocupaciones me inquietan? ¿Oigo que el Señor me dice: «No temas»? ¿Confío al cien por cien en Jesús? Si no es así, ¿qué me detiene?

PRIMERA LECTURA                   I Juan 4, 19-5, 4
El que ama a Dios debe amar también a su hermano.

De la primera carta del santo apóstol Juan

Amigos,
Nosotros amamos porque Dios nos amó primero.
Pero si alguno dice que ama a Dios
mientras odia a su hermano
es un mentiroso.
Porque si no ama a su hermano a quien ve,
no puede amar a Dios
a quien nunca ha visto.
Este mandamiento, pues, hemos recibido de Él :
el que ama a Dios
debe amar también a su hermano.
Todo el que cree que Jesús es el Salvador
es hijo de Dios.
Pues bien, quien ama al padre
ama también al hijo.
Si hemos de amar a Dios y guardar sus mandamientos
entonces también debemos amar a los hijos de Dios.
Esa es nuestra vara de medir.
Amar a Dios significa
guardar sus mandamientos,
y sus mandamientos no son difíciles de cumplir
porque todo nacido de Dios
vence al mundo.
Y el arma con la que vencemos al mundo
no es otra que nuestra fe.

153. Hay países poderosos y grandes empresas que se aprovechan de
este aislamiento y prefieren negociar con cada país individualmente.
Para los países pequeños o pobres, en cambio, se abre la posibilidad
de celebrar acuerdos regionales con los vecinos que permitan
negociar en bloque y pueden evitar convertirse
en segmentos marginales dependientes de las grandes potencias.
Hoy en día, ningún Estado aislado es capaz de garantizar el
bienestar general de su propia población.

‘Love leaves no room for fear,’ says the first reading. ‘Do not fear,’ Jesus says to the frightened apostles in the storm.This theme ties both readings together. God in Jesus is God-with-us. His love banishes all fear. This is not about illness or accidents, failure or misfortune. From all these things the believer is not spared. It is about the deepest thing a human being can talk about: the experience that God loves us beyond death. Those who trust in the Lord and devote themselves to loving Him and neighbour will hear the word of Jesus: ‘Rest assured. It is I. Do not fear’. If God loves me so much, what things do I fear? What worries do I worry about? Do I hear the Lord saying to me, ‘Do not fear’? Do I trust 100 per cent in Jesus? If not, what is holding me back?

FIRST READING               I John 4:19-5:4
He who loves God must also love his brother.

From the first letter of the holy apostle John

Friends,
We love because God first loved us.
But if anyone says he loves God
While he hates his brother,
he is a liar.
For if he does not love his brother whom he sees,
he cannot love God
whom he has never seen.
This commandment, then, we have received from Him :
he who loves God
must also love his brother.
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Saviour
is a child of God.
Well, he who loves the father
also loves the child.
If we are to love God and keep his commandments
then we must also love God’s children.
That is our yardstick.
Loving God means
keeping his commandments,
and his commandments are not difficult to keep
for everyone born of God
overcomes the world.
And the weapon with which we overcome the world
is none other than our faith.

On brotherhood and social friendship

153. There are powerful countries and large corporations that take advantage of
this isolation and prefer to negotiate with each country individually.
For small or poor countries, on the other hand, the possibility opens up
to conclude regional agreements with neighbours that allow
negotiate as a bloc and can prevent them from becoming
marginal segments dependent on the major powers.
Today, no isolated state is capable of ensuring the general
welfare of its own population.

Consideración

A su manera, la carta de Juan dice lo mismo que la carta de Pablo a los Romanos. La iniciativa es de Dios. Él nos amó primero. En Jesús, Dios ha mostrado ese amor. Dios ha enviado a su Hijo. En el Evangelio, vemos a Jesús en acción. Él da forma al amor de Dios. El amor sale hacia el otro. Siente compasión, pero también actúa. Jesús enseña porque la gente no conoce el mensaje de Dios. Jesús les da de comer porque tienen hambre. Su mensaje se dirige al ser humano total: la caridad debe mostrarse también en las acciones. Algo en lo que pensar, tanto para mí personalmente como para la comunidad a la que pertenezco.

Cuando nos amamos unos a otros, Dios habita en nosotros.

Si Dios nos ha amado tanto
también nosotros debemos amarnos los unos a los otros.

pero si nos amamos unos a otros
Dios habita en nosotros
y su amor se ha perfeccionado en nosotros.
Esta es la prueba de que permanecemos en Él
como Él permanece en nosotros
que Él nos ha hecho partícipes de Su Espíritu.
Y nosotros, hemos visto y damos testimonio
que el Padre ha enviado a su Hijo
para ser el Salvador del mundo.

Al caer la tarde, la barca estaba en medio del lago
y Él estaba solo en tierra.
Al ver que se esforzaban por avanzar
– el viento soplaba en contra.
hacia la cuarta vigilia de la noche se acercó
a pie por el lago hacia ellos;
\y quiso pasar de largo.
Pero cuando le vieron cruzar así el lago
pensaron que era un fantasma y gritaron.
Todos lo vieron y se turbaron.
Pero en seguida comenzó a hablarles y les dijo :
«Estad tranquilos, soy yo. No temáis».
Subió a la barca con ellos y el viento se calmó.
Se quedaron atónitos,
pues no se habían enterado de lo que había pasado con los panes.
No llegaron a comprenderlo, pero sus mentes estaban cegadas.

152. El espíritu de «vecindad» sigue vivo en algunos barrios populares, donde
todos sienten espontáneamente el deber de acompañar y ayudar al prójimo.
En estos lugares que conservan estos valores comunitarios, se mantienen
relaciones de proximidad con características de desinterés, solidaridad y
reciprocidad, basadas en el sentimiento de un «nosotros» del
vecindad. Sería deseable que esto también pudiera experimentarse
entre países vecinos, con la posibilidad de construir una cercanía cordial entre
sus pueblos. Pero las visiones individualistas se traducen en
relaciones entre países. El peligro de una vida en la que unos
protegen unos a otros, viendo a los demás como competidores
o enemigos peligrosos, se traslada a las relaciones con los pueblos de la
región. Tal vez hayamos sido educados con este miedo y esta desconfianza.

In its own way, John’s letter says the same thing as Paul’s letter to the Romans. The initiative lies with God. He first loved us. In Jesus, God has shown that love. God sent his Son. In the gospel, we see Jesus in action. He gives form to God’s love. Love goes out to others. He feels compassion, but he also acts. Jesus teaches because people do not know God’s message. Jesus feeds them because they are hungry. His message is addressed to the total human being: charity must also show itself in actions. Something to think about, both for me personally and for the community I belong to.

FIRST READING            I John 4, 11-18
When we love one another, God dwells in us.

From the first letter of the holy apostle John

Friends,
If God has so loved us
then we must also love one another.
No one has ever seen God
but if we love one another
God dwells in us
and His love is perfect in us.
This is proof that we abide in Him
as He dwells in us
That He has made us partakers of His Spirit.
And we have seen and testified
That the Father has sent His Son
to be the Saviour of the world.
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him.
God dwells in him
and he in God.
Thus we have come to know God’s love for us
and we believe in Him.
God is love:
He who dwells in love
dwells in God
and God is with him.
Our love is perfect
if we wait with confidence for the day of judgment,
because we live in this world
after the example of Christ.
Love leaves no room for fear.
Perfect love casts out fear,
for fear indicates punishment
and he who fears is not mature in love.

When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the lake and He was alone on land.
And He was alone on land.
When He saw that they were struggling to move forward
– the wind blew against them.
By the fourth watch of the night He approached
on foot across the lake to them;
And He wanted to pass them by.
But when they saw Him crossing the lake
they thought He was a ghost and cried out.
They all saw Him and were alarmed.
But immediately He began to speak to them and said:
‘Be calm, it is I. Do not be afraid. Do not be afraid.
He got into the boat with them and the wind died down.
They were astonished,
For they had not heard what had happened to the loaves.
They didn’t understand, but their minds were blinded.

152. In some areas of our cities, there is still a lively sense of neighbourhood. Each person quite spontaneously perceives a duty to accompany and help his or her neighbour. In places where these community values are maintained, people experience a closeness marked by gratitude, solidarity and reciprocity. The neighbourhood gives them a sense of shared identity.  Would that neighbouring countries were able to encourage a similar neighbourly spirit between their peoples! Yet the spirit of individualism also affects relations between countries. The danger of thinking that we have to protect ourselves from one another, of viewing others as competitors or dangerous enemies, also affects relations between peoples in the same region. Perhaps we were trained in this kind of fear and mistrust.

Uitnodiging

Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?

Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Iedere dag beschikbaar.

Overweging
God heeft ons lief. Hij heeft ons als eerste liefgehad. Onze liefde is een echo op zijn liefde, en we worden gevraagd om deze liefde te delen met allen. Maar Gods liefde, die in Jezus openbaar geworden is, ging vooral uit naar de meest verstotenen en de kleinen. Het evangelie noemt ze op: bezetenen, lammen, allen die lijden onder ziekte en pijn. De liefde die Jezus hen betoont, vraagt om een antwoord van ons. Zijn woord is immers een woord dat elke dag opnieuw in vervulling moet gaan. Hoe klinkt mijn antwoord in de praktijk?

EERSTE LEZING               I Joh. 4, 7-10
De liefde komt van God.

Uit de eerste brief van de heilige apostel Johannes

Vrienden,

Laten wij elkander liefhebben
want de liefde komt van God.
Iedereen die liefheeft
is een kind van God en kent God.
De mens zonder liefde kent God niet
want God is liefde.
En de liefde die God is
heeft zich onder ons geopenbaard
doordat Hij zijn enige Zoon in de wereld gezonden heeft
om ons het leven te brengen.
Hierin bestaat de liefde :
niet wij hebben God liefgehad
maar Hij heeft ons liefgehad,
en Hij heeft zijn Zoon gezonden
om door het offer van zijn leven onze zonden uit te wissen.

Hem huldigen alle vorsten der aarde

Hij gevoelde medelijden met hen,
want zij waren als schapen zonder herder ;

kwamen zijn leerlingen naar Hem toe en zeiden :
“Deze plek is eenzaam en het is al laat.
“Stuur hen weg om naar de hoeven en dorpen
in de omtrek te gaan en daar eten te kopen.”
Maar Hij gaf hun ten antwoord :
“Geeft gij hun maar te eten.”
Zij zeiden Hem daarop :
“Moeten wij dan voor tweehonderd denariën brood gaan kopen
om hun te eten te geven?”

“Hoeveel broden hebt ge?

151. Dankzij de regionale uitwisseling, van waaruit de zwakste landen
zich openstellen voor de hele wereld, is het mogelijk dat universaliteit
particulariteit niet opheft. Een adequate en authentieke openheid voor de
wereld veronderstelt het vermogen zich open te stellen voor de naaste, in
een familie van naties. Culturele, economische en politieke integratie met
de omringende volken zou gepaard moeten gaan met een educatief proces
dat de waarde van de liefde voor de naaste bevordert, de eerste onmisbare
oefening om een gezonde universele integratie te bereiken.

la lectura diaria del Evangelio.

Esta invitación desea compartir contigo la alegría
del Evangelio. Todos, sin excepción,
puede experimentar esa alegría abriendo su corazón
al poder sanador de la palabra de Dios.

Consideración

Dios nos ama. Él nos amó primero. Nuestro amor es un eco de su amor, y se nos pide que compartamos este amor con todos. Pero el amor de Dios, manifestado en Jesús, se dirigió especialmente a los más marginados y a los más pequeños. El Evangelio los enumera: los endemoniados, los cojos, todos los que sufren enfermedades y dolores. El amor que Jesús les muestra exige una respuesta por nuestra parte. Al fin y al cabo, su palabra es una palabra que hay que cumplir cada día. ¿Cómo es mi respuesta en la práctica?

PRIMERA LECTURA            I Juan 4, 7-10
El amor viene de Dios.

De la primera carta del santo apóstol Juan

Amigos,
Amémonos los unos a los otros
porque el amor viene de Dios.
Todo el que ama
es hijo de Dios y conoce a Dios.
El hombre sin amor no conoce a Dios
porque Dios es amor.
Y el amor que es Dios
se ha manifestado entre nosotros
enviando a su Hijo unigénito al mundo
para traernos la vida.
En esto consiste el amor :
no nosotros hemos amado a Dios
sino que Él nos ha amado
y envió a su Hijo
para borrar nuestros pecados con el sacrificio de su vida.

«¿Debemos entonces ir a comprar pan por doscientos denarios
para darles de comer?»
Él les dijo :
«¿Cuántos panes tenéis?
«Id a ver».
Después de ponerse al corriente, dijeron :
«Cinco, y dos peces».
Ahora Él les ordenó
que todos se sentaran en grupos sobre la hierba verde.
Se sentaron en grupos de cien y de cincuenta.
Tomó los cinco panes y los dos peces,
levantó los ojos al cielo,
pronunció la bendición,
partió los panes y los dio a sus discípulos
para que los presentaran al pueblo;
Repartió también los dos peces entre todos.
Todos comieron hasta quedar satisfechos.
Recogieron en terrones y lo que sobró de pescado
doce cestas llenas.
Eran cinco mil hombres que habían comido de los panes.

no anule la particularidad. Una adecuada y auténtica apertura al
mundo presupone la capacidad de abrirse al vecino, en
una familia de naciones. La integración cultural, económica y política con
pueblos del entorno debe ir acompañada de un proceso educativo
que promueva el valor del amor al prójimo, primer ejercicio indispensable
para lograr una sana integración universal.

Consideration

God loves us. He has loved us first. Our love echoes his love and we are asked to share this love with everyone. But God’s love, revealed in Jesus, was especially focused on the most marginalised and the least. The gospel lists them: the demons, the lame, all those suffering from illness and pain. The love Jesus shows to them demands a response on our part. After all, his word is a word to be fulfilled every day. How do I respond in practice?

FIRST READING                  John 4:7-10
Love comes from God.

From the holy apostle John’s first letter.

Friends,
Let us love one another
For love comes from God.
Everyone who loves
is a child of God and knows God.
Man without love does not know God
because God is love.
And the love that is God
has revealed itself among us
by sending his only-begotten Son into the world
to bring life to us.
This is what love is all about:
we have not loved God
but he loved us
and sent his Son
to erase our sins through the sacrifice of his life.

He had compassion on them

‘This place is lonely and it is late.
‘Send them away so that they can go to the huts and villages
and buy food there’.
But He answered them:
‘Just give them food’.
Then they said to Him:
‘Shall we then go and buy bread for two hundred denarii
to feed them?’
He said to them :
‘How many loaves do you have?
Go and see.’
After enquiring, they said :
‘Five, and two fish’.
Now He ordered them
to sit in groups on the green grass.
They sat down in groups of one hundred and fifty.
He took the five loaves of bread and the two fish,
raised his eyes to heaven,
pronounced the blessing,
he broke the loaves and gave them to his disciples

151. Thanks to regional exchanges, by which poorer countries become open to the wider world, universality does not necessarily water down their distinct features. An appropriate and authentic openness to the world presupposes the capacity to be open to one’s neighbour within a family of nations. Cultural, economic and political integration with neighbouring peoples should therefore be accompanied by a process of education that promotes the value of love for one’s neighbour, the first indispensable step towards attaining a healthy universal integration.
