Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Openingswoord
In de vreugde van Pinksteren
worden we aangemoedigd om beeld van God te zijn
en zijn liefde te weerspiegelen in deze wereld.
Jezus heeft ons zijn Geest toegezegd
om ons daarin bij te staan en te helpen.
Hij blijft bij ons en leidt ons stap voor stap in zijn Waarheid,
opdat alles wat wij doen in Hem zou worden gedaan.
EERSTE LEZING Hand. 19, 1b-6a
Hebt gij de heilige Geest ontvangen toen ge het geloof hebt aangenomen ?
Uit de Handelingen van de Apostelen
In die dagen kwam Paulus
na zijn reis door het binnenland in Efeze.
Daar ontmoette hij enige leerlingen aan wie hij vroeg :
“Hebt gij de heilige Geest ontvangen
toe ge het geloof hebt aangenomen ?”
Zij antwoorden :
“Wij hebben niet eens gehoord
dat er een heilige Geest bestaat.”
Toen zei hij : “Hoe zijt ge dan gedoopt ?”
Ze antwoordden : “Met het doopsel van Johannes”
Paulus hernam :
“Johannes diende een doopsel toe ten teken van bekering,
maar hij zei aan het volk
dat ze moesten geloven in Wie na hem kwam, dat is Jezus.”
Toen zij dit gehoord hadden
lieten zij zich dopen in de naam van de Heer Jezus.
Nadat Paulus hun de handen had opgelegd
kwam de heilige Geest over hen
TUSSENZANG Ps. 104(103), 1ab, 24, 27-28, 30-31.
Zendt Gij uw Geest, dan komt er weer leven,
dan maakt Gij uw schepping weer nieuw.
Verheerlijk, mijn ziel, de Heer,
wat zijt Gij groot, Heer mijn God !
Hoe veel is het wat Gij gedaan hebt, Heer,
en alles in wijsheid gemaakt,
de aarde is vol van uw schepsels.
En al deze dieren verwachten van U
dat Gij ze voedt op hun tijd.
Wat Gij voor hen uitstrooit verzamelen zij,
ze worden verzadigd als Gij uw hand opent.
Maar zendt Gij uw geest, dan komt er weer leven,
dan maakt Gij uw schepping weer nieuw.
De roem van de Heer blijve eeuwig bestaan,
Hij vinde zijn vreugde in al zijn schepsels.

voor wie de wereld niet ontvankelijk is
omdat zij Hem niet ziet en niet kent.
“Gij kent Hem, want Hij blijft bij u en zal in u zijn.”

Over de zorg voor het gemeenschappelijk huis
183. Een studie van het milieueffect zou niet moeten komen na de uitwerking van een productieplan of welke politiek, welk plan of programma dan ook. Zij moet vanaf het begin worden opgenomen en uitgewerkt op een interdisciplinaire, transparante en van iedere economische en politieke druk onafhankelijke wijze. Zij moet worden verbonden met een analyse van de arbeidsomstandigheden en de mogelijke effecten op de fysieke en geestelijke gezondheid van mensen, op de lokale economie en op de veiligheid. De economische resultaten zal men zo op een meer realistische wijze kunnen voorzien, rekening houdend met de mogelijke scenario’s en eventueel vooruitlopend op de noodzaak van een grotere investering om ongewenste en corrigeerbare effecten op te lossen. Het is altijd noodzakelijk toestemming te krijgen van de verschillende maatschappelijke actoren die verschillende perspectieven, oplossingen en alternatieven kunnen aandragen. Maar in het debat moeten de bewoners een bevoorrechte plaats hebben: zij stellen zich de vragen over wat zij voor zich en hun eigen kinderen willen, en zij kunnen de doeleinden in aanmerking nemen die het onmiddellijke economische belang overstijgen. Men moet van het idee van “ingrepen” in het milieu afstappen om plaats te maken voor een politiek waarover door alle betrokken partijen wordt nagedacht en gedebatteerd. Deelname vereist dat allen adequaat worden geïnformeerd over de verschillende aspecten en de verschillende risico’s en mogelijkheden, en beperkt zich niet tot een beslissing aan het begin over een project, maar houdt ook controle en constante monitoring in. Er is behoefte aan eerlijkheid en waarheid in de wetenschappelijke en politieke discussies zonder dat men zich ertoe beperkt in aanmerking te nemen wat er wel of niet door de wetgeving wordt toegestaan.

In the joy of Pentecost
we are encouraged to be the image of God
and reflect his love in this world.

From the Acts of the Apostles
It was in those days that Paul
Paul arrived in Ephesus after his journey through the interior of the country.
There he met some disciples to whom he asked :
“Have you received the Holy Spirit
when you accepted the faith?
They replied :
“We have not even heard
that there is such a thing as the Holy Spirit.
Then he said: “How were you baptised?
They answered: “With the baptism of John.
Paul resumed :
“John administered a baptism as a sign of conversion,
but he told the people to believe in Him who came after him, that is, Jesus.”
When they had heard this
they were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus.
After Paul had laid his hands on them
the Holy Spirit came upon them

On Care of the Common Home
183. A study of environmental impact should not come after the elaboration of a production plan or any policy, plan or programme. It should be included and developed from the outset in an interdisciplinary, transparent manner, independent of all economic and political pressures. It must be linked to an analysis of working conditions and the possible effects on people’s physical and mental health, on the local economy and on safety. This will allow the economic results to be anticipated more realistically, taking into account the possible scenarios and possibly anticipating the need for greater investment to resolve undesirable and correctable effects. It is always necessary to obtain the consent of the various social actors who can bring different perspectives, solutions and alternatives. But residents must have a privileged place in the debate: they ask themselves the questions about what they want for themselves and their own children, and they can consider the goals that go beyond the immediate economic interest. The idea of ‘intervention’ in the environment must be abandoned in favour of a policy that is thought through and debated by all the parties concerned. Participation requires that all are adequately informed about the different aspects and the different risks and possibilities, and is not limited to a decision at the beginning of a project, but also involves control and constant monitoring. There is a need for honesty and truth in scientific and political discussions without being limited to considering what is or is not allowed by legislation.
