Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging
De leerlingen worden gezonden om de komst van het rijk Gods aan te kondigen en om zieken te genezen. Met de komst van het hemels koninkrijk breekt het licht van de waarheid door, die mensen bevrijdt uit de dwaling. Precies omdat zij bevrijd worden, zullen zij in staat zijn om te wandelen in dat licht. De Heer brengt troost, bemoediging en hoop. Niemand klopt immers ooit vergeefs bij Hem aan.
EERSTE LEZING Jes; 30, 19-21.23-26
De Heer zal genadig zijn voor wie tot Hem roept.
Uit de Profeet Jesaja
Zo spreekt de Heer,
de heilige God van Israël :
“Volk van Sion dat in Jeruzalem woont,
gij zult niet langer wenen :
“De Heer zal u genadig zijn,
zodra Hij uw geweeklaag hoort ;
Hij zal u antwoorden,
zodra Hij uw geroep verneemt.
“Hij zal u het brood der verdrukking schenken
en het water der nood.
“Uw leraar zal zich niet langer verbergen,
uw ogen zullen de Leidsman zien.
“En uw oren zullen een stem achter u horen die zegt :
‘Dit is de weg, volg hem, waarheen hij u ook leidt.’
“De Heer zal het laten regenen voor het zaad
dat gij op uw akkers zaait ;
en het graan dat uw land voortbrengt
zal voedzaam zijn en overvloedig.
“Op die dag zullen uw kudden grazen op onafzienbare weiden.
“En de ossen en de ezels die uw land beploegen
zullen veevoer vreten met zout gemengd
en met wan en gaffel gezuiverd.
“Van alle hoge bergen en alle hoge heuvels
zal het water in beken naar beneden stromen,
op de dag van de grote slachting,
de dag dat de vestingen vallen.
“Dan zal het licht van de maan zijn als het licht van de zon,
en het licht van de zon zal zeven keer zo sterk zijn
op de dag dat de Heer de wonden van zijn volk verbindt
en Hij de striemen geneest die Hij geslagen heeft.”

Gelukkig allen die de Heer verwachten (Jes. 30, 18).

Prijst nu de Heer, het is goed Hem te loven,
bezingt onze God, alle lof komt Hem toe.
De Heer bouwt de stad Jeruzalem op,
verzamelt Israël uit de verstrooiing.
Gebroken harten geneest Hij weer,
Hij heelt alle bloedende wonden.
Hij die het getal van de sterren kent
en elk van hen roept bij zijn naam .
Verheven is Hij, onze Heer, en almachtig,
zijn wijsheid is onbegrensd.
De Heer verheft de vernederden
maar de zondaars werpt Hij ter aarde.

EVANGELIE Mt. 9, 35-10.1. 5-8
Bij het zien van de menigte wordt Jezus door medelijden bewogen.
Uit het heilig evangelie van onze Heer Jezus Christus volgens
Matteüs
In die tijd ging Jezus rond door alle steden en dorpen,
waar Hij onderricht gaf in hun synagogen
en de Blijde Boodschap verkondigde van het Koninkrijk
en alle ziekten en kwalen genas.
Bij het zien van die menigte mensen
werd Hij door medelijden bewogen,
omdat ze afgetobd neerlagen
als schapen zonder herder.
Toen sprak Hij tot zijn leerlingen :
“De oogst is wel groot
maar arbeiders zijn er weinig.
“Vraagt daarom de Heer van de oogst
arbeiders te sturen om te oogsten.”
Hij riep zijn twaalf leerlingen bij zich en gaf hun de macht
om de onreine geesten uit te drijven
en alle ziekten en kwalen te genezen.
Deze twaalf zond Jezus uit met de opdracht :
“Begeeft u niet onder de heidenen
en gaat niet binnen in een stad van de Samaritanen ;
gij moet veeleer gaan
naar de verloren schapen van het huis van Israël.
“Verkondigt op uw tocht :
Het Koninkrijk der hemelen is nabij.
“Geneest zieken, wekt doden op,
reinigt melaatsen en drijft duivels uit.
“Voor niets hebt gij ontvangen, voor niets moet gij geven.”

Over de zorg voor het gemeenschappelijke huis
8. Patriarch Bartholomeüs heeft in het bijzonder gewezen op de noodzaak dat ieder berouw heeft over de wijze waarop hij de planeet mishandelt, omdat “in de mate waarin wij allen kleine ecologische schade veroorzaken”, wij geroepen zijn “onze kleine of grote bijdrage aan de ontwrichting en de vernietiging van het milieu” te erkennen. Op dit punt heeft hij zich herhaaldelijk op een krachtige en prikkelende wijze uitgelaten door ons uit te nodigen onze zonden tegen de schepping te erkennen: “Dat de menselijke wezens de biologische diversiteit in de schepping van God verwoesten; dat de menselijke wezens de integriteit van de aarde in gevaar brengen en bijdragen aan de klimaatverandering door de aarde te beroven van haar natuurlijke wouden of door haar vochtige zones te verwoesten; dat de menselijke wezens het water, de bodem, de lucht vervuilen: Dat zijn allemaal zonden”. Want “een misdaad tegen de natuur is een misdaad tegen onszelf en een zonde tegen God”.

This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.

can experience this joy by opening their hearts
to the healing effect of God’s word.

Consideration
The disciples are sent to announce the coming of the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. With the coming of the heavenly kingdom, the light of truth breaks through, liberating people from error. Precisely because they are liberated, they will be able to walk in that light. The Lord brings comfort, encouragement and hope. After all, nobody ever knocks on His door in vain.
FIRST READING Isa: 30, 19-21.23-26
The Lord will be gracious to those who call upon Him.

Thus speaks the Lord,
the holy God of Israel:
“People of Zion who dwell in Jerusalem ,
you shall weep no more:
“The Lord will be gracious to you,
as soon as He hears your wailing ;
He will answer you when He hears your crying.
He will give you the bread of affliction
and the water of distress.
“Thy teacher shall no longer hide himself,
thine eyes shall see the Chief Conductor.

At the sight of the crowd Jesus is moved with compassion.

Matthew
In those days Jesus went around all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues
and preached the Good News of the Kingdom
and healed all diseases and afflictions.
Seeing that crowd of people
He was moved with compassion,
because they lay down weary
like sheep without a shepherd.
Then He spoke to His disciples:
“The harvest is great
but the labourers are few.
“Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest
send out labourers to harvest.”
He called his twelve disciples together and gave them power
to cast out the unclean spirits
and heal all diseases and afflictions.
These twelve Jesus sent out with the command :
Do not go among the Gentiles and do not enter a city of the Samaritans ;
Rather, you must go
the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
“Proclaim on your journey:
The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
“Heal the sick, raise the dead,
cleanses lepers and casts out devils.
“For nothing have ye received, for nothing must ye give.”

8. In particular, Patriarch Bartholomew stressed the need for each to repent of the way he mistreats the planet, because “to the extent that we all cause small ecological damage”, we are called to recognise “our small or large contribution to the disruption and destruction of the environment”. On this point, he has repeatedly expressed himself in a forceful and thought-provoking manner by inviting us to acknowledge our sins against creation: “That human beings destroy the biological diversity in God’s creation; that human beings compromise the integrity of the earth and contribute to climate change by robbing the earth of its natural forests or by destroying its wetlands; that human beings pollute the water, the soil, the air: these are all sins”. Because “a crime against nature is a crime against ourselves and a sin against God “.
