Uitnodiging
Mag ik hiermee Uw aandacht vragen voor
het dagelijks lezen van het Evangelie?
Deze uitnodiging wil U deelgenoot maken aan de vreugde
van het evangelie. Iedereen, niemand uitgezonderd,
kan die vreugde ervaren door zijn hart open te stellen
voor de genezende werking van Gods woord.

Overweging
Als gemeenschap van gelovigen, als Kerk zijn wij één familie. Wij zijn broers en zussen van elkaar. Wij zijn allen Gods kinderen. Wij zijn één gezin. De apostel Paulus schrijft in bevlogen woorden in zijn brief aan de christenen van Kolosse tot ons. Het is pure poëzie maar tegelijk een opdracht en een roeping voor elke mens die christen wil zijn. Paulus spreekt over tedere ontferming, goedheid, deemoed, zachtheid en geduld. Hij heeft het over verdraagzaamheid en vergeving. Hij voegt er nog liefde, vrede en dankbaarheid aan toe. Hij zegt: ‘leert en vermaant elkaar’. En dat alles ingegeven door de Geest. Alles wat Paulus opsomt, zijn (nu nog) onontbeerlijke voorwaarden voor een gelukkig en harmonieus samenleven. Maar wat Paulus schrijft, is evenzeer van toepassing op onze Kerk. Hij is de apostel bij uitstek die ons zegt dat wet en Geest kunnen en moeten samen gaan. Want Paulus heeft méér dan wie ook ervaren dat de wet zonder de liefde tot niets leidt. Wij zullen maar samen Kerk zijn als er onder ons dus een broederlijke liefde is. Wij zullen Kerk zijn in Jezus’Geest, als de liefde de hele wet vervult.
EERSTE LEZING Sir. 3, 2-6.12-14 als
Wie de Heer vreest, eert zijn ouders.
De Heer heeft een vader aangesteld over de kinderen;
en de moeder recht gegeven over haar zonen.
Wie zijn vader eerbiedigt krijgt vergiffenis van zonden,
en als iemand die schatten verzamelt
is hij die zijn moeder eert.
Wie zijn vader eert, beleeft vreugde aan zijn kinderen,
en wanneer hij bidt wordt hij verhoord.
Wie zijn vader eert zal een lang leven genieten
en wie zijn vader gehoorzaamt
verkwikt het hart van zijn moeder.
Wie de Heer vreest, eert zijn ouders.
Kind, draag zorg voor uw vader op zijn oude dag
en doe hem geen verdriet zolang hij leeft.
Op de dag dat je in nood zijt, wordt aan u gedacht;
gij die nog in volle kracht zijt, veracht uw vader niet.
Medelijden met uw vader zal niet worden vergeten,
anders dan de zonden, bouwt zij uw huis op.

TWEEDE LEZING Kol. 3, 12-21
Over het huiselijk leven in de Heer.
Broeders en zusters,
Bekleedt u,
als Gods heilige en geliefde uitverkorenen,
met tedere ontferming, goedheid, deemoed,
zachtheid en geduld.
Verdraagt elkander
en vergeeft elkander als de een tegen de ander een grief heeft.
Zoals de Heer u vergeven heeft
zo moet ook gij vergeven.
Voegt bij dit alles de liefde als de band der volmaaktheid.
En laat de vrede van Christus heersen in uw hart;
daartoe zijt gij immers geroepen, als leden van één lichaam,
en weest dankbaar.
Het woord van Christus moge in volle rijkdom
onder u wonen.
Leert en vermaant elkander met alle wijsheid.
Zingt voor God met een dankbaar hart psalmen,
hymnen en liederen,
ingegeven door de Geest.
En al wat gij doet in woord of werk
doet alles in de naam van Jezus de Heer,
God de Vader dankend door Hem.
Vrouwen, weest uw man onderdanig,
zoals het christenen betaamt.
Mannen, hebt uw vrouw lief
en weest niet humeurig tegen haar.
Kinderen, gehoorzaamt uw ouders in alles,
want dit is de Heer welgevallig.
Vaders, tergt uw kinderen niet,
opdat zij de moed niet verliezen.

EVANGELIE Mt. 2, 13-15.19-23
Neem het kind en zijn moeder, en vlucht naar Egypte.
Toen de Wijzen waren heengegaan,
verscheen een engel van de Heer in een droom aan Jozef
en sprak:
“Sta op, neem het kind en zijn moeder,
vlucht naar Egypte en blijf daar tot ik u waarschuw,
want Herodes komt het kind zoeken om het te doden.”
Hij stond op
en week in de nacht met het kind en zijn moeder
naar Egypte uit.
Daar bleef hij tot aan de dood van Herodes,
opdat in vervulling zou gaan
wat de Heer gesproken had door de profeet:
“Ik heb mijn zoon geroepen uit Egypte.”
Nadat Herodes gestorven was,
verscheen in Egypte een engel van de Heer
in een droom aan Jozef
en zei:
“Sta op, neem het kind en zijn moeder
en trek naar het land Israël,
want die het kind naar het leven stonden,
zijn gestorven.”
Hij stond op, nam het kind en zijn moeder
en ging naar het land Israël.
Toen hij echter hoorde, dat Archelaüs
in plaats van zijn vader Herodes,
over Juda heerste,
vreesde hij daarheen te gaan;
van Godswege in een droom ingelicht,
begaf hij zich daarom naar het gebied van Galilea.
Hier aangekomen,
vestigde hij zich in een stad, Nazaret geheten,
opdat in vervulling zou gaan
wat door de profeten gezegd was:
“Hij zal een Nazoreeër genoemd worden.”

Over de zorg voor het gemeenschappelijke huis
35. Bij de beoordeling van de milieu-effecten van een project wordt meestal aandacht besteed aan de gevolgen voor bodem, water en lucht, maar er worden maar weinig zorgvuldige studies verricht naar de gevolgen voor de biodiversiteit, alsof het verlies van soorten of dieren- en plantengroepen van weinig belang is. Snelwegen, nieuwe plantages, de afrastering van bepaalde gebieden, de afdamming van waterbronnen en soortgelijke ontwikkelingen verdringen natuurlijke habitats en breken deze soms zodanig af dat dierenpopulaties niet meer vrij kunnen migreren of rondlopen. Daardoor dreigen sommige soorten uit te sterven. Er bestaan alternatieven die ten minste de gevolgen van deze projecten verzachten, zoals de aanleg van biologische corridors, maar weinig landen geven blijk van een dergelijke bezorgdheid en vooruitziendheid. Wanneer bepaalde soorten commercieel worden geëxploiteerd, wordt vaak weinig aandacht besteed aan het bestuderen van hun voortplantingspatronen om te voorkomen dat zij uitgeput raken en het ecosysteem daardoor uit balans raakt.

Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience this joy by opening his heart
to the healing effect of God’s word.
Available every morning from 7 am
Consideration
As a community of believers, as the Church, we are one family. We are brothers and sisters to each other. We are all God’s children. We are one family. The apostle Paul writes to us in inspired words in his letter to the Christians of Colossae. It is pure poetry but at the same time a mission and a calling for every person who wants to be a Christian. Paul speaks of tender compassion, goodness, humility, gentleness and patience. He talks about forbearance and forgiveness. He adds love, peace and gratitude. He says: ‘teach and admonish one another’. And all this is prompted by the Spirit. All that Paul lists are (even now) indispensable conditions for a happy and harmonious coexistence. But what Paul writes is equally applicable to our Church. He is the apostle par excellence who tells us that law and Spirit can and must go together. For Paul experienced more than anyone else that the law without love leads to nothing. We will only be Church together if there is a brotherly love among us. We will be Church in Jesus’ Spirit if love fills the whole law.

He who fears the Lord honours his parents.
From the book of Wisdom of Jesus Sirach
The Lord has appointed a father over the children;
and has given the mother right over her sons.
He who respects his father is forgiven his sins,
and as one who gathers treasures

and when he prays he is heard.
He who honours his father will enjoy a long life
and he who obeys his father
will quicken his mother’s heart.

Brothers and sisters,
Clothe yourselves,
as God’s holy and beloved elect,
with tender mercies, goodness, humility,
gentleness and patience.
Bear with one another
and forgive one another if any one has a grievance against another.
As the Lord has forgiven you
so must you also forgive.
Add to all this love as the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts;
for unto this end ye are called as members of one body,
and be thankful.
May the word of Christ dwell in full riches
dwell among you in full riches.
Teach and exhort one another with all wisdom.
Sing to God with a thankful heart psalms,
hymns and songs,
inspired by the Spirit.
And whatever you do in word or deed

GOSPEL Mt 2:13-15,19-23
Take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew
When the Wise Men had gone ,
an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream
and spoke:
“Arise, take the child and his mother,
flee to Egypt and stay there until I warn you,
for Herod is coming to find the child to kill him.”
He got up
and in the night departed with the child and his mother
to Egypt.
There he remained until Herod’s death,
that it might be fulfilled
what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:
“I have called my son out of Egypt”.
After Herod died,
an angel of the Lord appeared in Egypt
appeared to Joseph in a dream
and said:
“Arise, take the child and his mother
and go to the land of Israel,
for those who took the child’s life
have died.”
He got up, took the child and his mother
and went to the land of Israel.
When he heard, however, that Archelaus
instead of his father Herod,
ruled over Judah,
he feared to go there;
informed by God in a dream,
he therefore went to the region of Galilee.
Arrived here,
he settled in a city called Nazareth,
so that in fulfillment would come
what had been said by the prophets:
“He shall be called a Nazarene.”

35. When assessing the environmental impacts of a project, consideration is usually given to soil, water and air impacts, but few careful studies are carried out on biodiversity impacts, as if the loss of species or animal and plant groups is of little importance. Highways, new plantations, the fencing off of certain areas, the damming off of water sources and similar developments crowd out natural habitats and sometimes break them up to the point where animal populations can no longer migrate or roam freely. As a result, some species are in danger of extinction. There are alternatives that at least mitigate their impact, such as the construction of biological corridors, but few countries show such concern and foresight. When certain species are commercially exploited, little attention is often paid to studying their reproductive patterns to prevent their depletion and consequent ecosystem imbalance.
