Sunday – Holy Trinity

Drie-eenheid wil zeggen dat de ene God drie personen omvat. .

Invitation

May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?

This invitation wants to share with You the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one except,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.

Available every day.

Opening word
The feast of the Holy Trinity
makes us realize that God is infinitely great.
We cannot easily grasp Him
in a few words or images.
Yet we come to know Him in Jesus.
In Jesus, the Father’s love becomes visible.
In Him, God comes close to us.
It is the Spirit who reminds us
what Jesus said about the Father.
It is the Spirit who inspires us and brings us together.
Today we very consciously make the sign of the cross.
With this simple sign,
we express our faith in God whom we call:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

FIRST READING       Ex. 34, 4b-6.8-9

The Lord is a merciful and compassionate God.

From the Book of Exodus

In those days, Moses mounted the Sinai early in the morning
as the Lord had commanded him.
He took the two stone slabs with him.
The Lord descended in a cloud, came and stood by him
and called out the name of the Lord.
The Lord passed by him and called out:
“The Lord!
“The Lord is a merciful and compassionate God,
long-suffering and great in love and faithfulness.”

Immediately, Moses fell to his knees and bowed down.
Then he spoke:
“O Lord, be so good and go with us.
“This people may be obstinate ,
yet forgive our crimes and sins,
and consider us your own possession.”

RESPONSORIAL           Dan. 3, 52a, 52b, 53, 54, 55, 56

Refrain
To Thee be praise in all ages.

Praised be Thou, Lord, God of our fathers,
praise be to Thee throughout all ages.

Praised be Thy holy glorious Name,
to Thee be praise throughout all ages.

Praised be Thou in the house of Thy glory,
to Thee be praise in all ages.

Praised be Thou on the throne of Thy Kingdom,
to Thee be praise in all ages.

Praised be Thou who searches the depths,
enthroned on cherubim, in all ages.

Praised be Thou in the dome of heaven,
to Thee be praise throughout all ages.

SECOND READING       2 Cor. 13:11-13

The grace of Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit.

From the holy apostle Paul’s second letter to the Christians
of Corinth

Brothers and sisters,

Let all things be restored,
take my exhortation to heart,
be of one mind, keep the peace,
and the God of love and peace will be with you.
Greet one another with the holy kiss.
To you greet all the saints.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God
and the communion of the Holy Spirit
be with you all. Amen.

Verse for the Gospel        Apok. 1, 8

Alleluia.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
God who is, and who was, and who is to come.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL            Jn 3, 16-18

God sent his Son into the world that the world might be saved through him.

From the holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
John

At that time, Jesus said to Nicodemus:

“So much did God love the world ,
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish,
but shall have eternal life.
“God did not send his Son into the world
to judge the world ,
but that the world might be saved through Him.
“Whoever believes in Him will not be judged,
but he who does not believe has already been judged,
because he has not believed
in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Laudato Si

Encyclic of

POPE FRANCIS

On the care of the common home
190. Here too, it should always be kept in mind that “environmental protection cannot be assured solely on the basis of financial calculations of costs and benefits. The environment is one of those goods that cannot be adequately safeguarded or promoted by market forces” Once more, we need to reject a magical conception of the market, which would suggest that problems can be solved simply by an increase in the profits of companies or individuals. Is it realistic to hope that those who are obsessed with maximizing profits will stop to reflect on the environmental damage which they will leave behind for future generations? Where profits alone count, there can be no thinking about the rhythms of nature, its phases of decay and regeneration, or the complexity of ecosystems which may be gravely upset by human intervention. Moreover, biodiversity is considered at most a deposit of economic resources available for exploitation, with no serious thought for the real value of things, their significance for persons and cultures, or the concerns and needs of the poor.
