Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with You the joy
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one except,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
to the healing power of God’s word.

Opening word
Today we are here together in Jesus’ name
and in celebrating together may we meet the Lord,
for ‘where two or three are united in His Name,
there He is in their midst’.
Do we open our hearts
to unite ourselves with that loving living Lord,
that we may truly know Him in our midst.
FIRST READING Ez. 33, 7-9
If you do not warn the evildoer, I will come and claim his blood from you.
From the prophet Ezekiel
Thus speaks the Lord:
“Thou, child of man ,
as a watchman I have appointed thee
over the people of Israel.
“Hear ye a word out of My mouth ,
then warn them on My behalf!
“When I say to the evildoer:
Ye evildoer, ye must die!
and if then thou open not thine mouth
and do not warn the evildoer of his conduct ,
then that evildoer does die for his own fault,
but then I will come to claim his blood from you.
“Didst thou, however, warn the evildoer of his conduct,
told him to repent,
and he repents not,
then he dies for his own fault,
but thou hast saved thy life.”

Listen today to God’s voice;
Be not obstinate.
Come, let us greet the Lord with jubilation,
to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us appear before Him with a song of praise,
Honour Him with songs.
Come we cast ourselves adoringly to the earth,
we kneel before Him who created us.
He is our God and we are His people,
He is the shepherd and we his flock.
So listen today to his voice:
“Be not obstinate as once in Meriba,
where your fathers wanted to defy Me
though they had seen my deeds.”
SECOND READING Rom. 13:8-10
Love fulfils the whole law.
From the holy apostle Paul’s letter to the Christians of
Rome
Brothers and sisters,
Take care that you owe nothing to anyone.
Your only debt remains mutual love.
He who loves his neighbour has fulfilled the law.
For the commandments:
Thou shalt not commit adultery, not kill,
not steal, not covet,
and all the others can be summed up in this one word:
“Love thy neighbour as thyself”.
Love does no harm to the neighbour.
Love fulfils the entire law.
Verse for the gospel 2 Cor. 5, 19

It was God who in Christ reconciled the world to himself
and He gave us the message of reconciliation.

If he listens to you, you have won your brother.
From the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to
Matthew
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:
“When thy brother hath sinned ,
reprimand him in private.
“If he listens to you, you have won your brother.
“But if he does not listen,
then bring in one or two persons,
so that everything may rest
on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
“If he will not listen to them ,
then submit it to the Church.
“If he will not listen to the Church either ,
then consider him a pagan or a tax collector.
“Verily, I say unto you:
Whatever thou shalt bind on earth
shall also be bound in heaven,
and what ye shall dissolve on earth
shall also be dissolved in heaven.
“Likewise I say unto you:
When two of you united on earth ask anything
– it may be what it will –
shall they obtain it
from my Father who is in heaven.
“For where two or three are united in My Name ,
there I am in their midst.”

On caring for the common home
41. In tropical and subtropical seas, we find coral reefs comparable to the great forests on dry land, for they shelter approximately a million species, including fish, crabs, molluscs, sponges and algae. Many of the world’s coral reefs are already barren or in a state of constant decline. “Who turned the wonderworld of the seas into underwater cemeteries bereft of colour and life?” This phenomenon is due largely to pollution which reaches the sea as the result of deforestation, agricultural monocultures, industrial waste and destructive fishing methods, especially those using cyanide and dynamite. It is aggravated by the rise in temperature of the oceans. All of this helps us to see that every intervention in nature can have consequences which are not immediately evident, and that certain ways of exploiting resources prove costly in terms of degradation which ultimately reaches the ocean bed itself.
