Invitation
May I hereby draw your attention to
the daily reading of the Gospel?
This invitation wants to share with you the joy of the Gospel.
of the Gospel. Everyone, no one excepted,
can experience that joy by opening their hearts
|to the healing power of God’s word.
Available every day.
Consideration
Disciples are sent to announce the coming of the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. With the coming of the heavenly kingdom, the light of truth breaks through, liberating people from error. Precisely because they are set free, they will be able to walk in that light. The Lord brings comfort, encouragement and hope. After all, no one ever knocks on His door in vain. Neither do we – who among us has not been hurt?
FIRST READING Isa 30:19-21. 23-26
The Lord will be gracious to those who call to Him.
From the prophet Isaiah
Thus speaks the LORD,
the holy God of Israel:
‘People of Zion who dwell in Jerusalem ,
thou shalt weep no more:
The LORD will be gracious to you ,
as soon as He hears your lamentation;
He will answer thee ,
As soon as he hears thy cry.
He will give thee the bread of affliction
And the water of distress.
Your teacher will no longer hide,
your eyes will see the Guide.
And your ears will hear a voice behind you saying:
This is the way, follow him, wherever he leads you.
The LORD will make it rain for the seed
Which thou sowest in thy fields ;
and the grain that thy land brings forth
shall be nourishing and plentiful.
In that day, your flocks will graze on endless pastures.
And the oxen and donkeys that plough thy land
shall eat fodder mixed with salt
and purified with wan and gaff.
From all the high mountains and all the high hills
shall water flow down in streams,
on the day of the great slaughter,
the day the fortresses fall.
Then the light of the moon will be like the light of the sun,
and the light of the sun will be seven times as strong
in the day when the LORD binds up the wounds of his people
and He heals the wounds He has beaten.’
INTERLUDIUM Ps. 147(146), 1-2, 3-4, 5-6
Happy all who expect the Lord (Isa. 30:18).
Alleluia.
Now praise the Lord, it is good to praise Him,
praise our God, all praise is due to Him.
The Lord builds up the city of Jerusalem,
gathers Israel from the scattering.
Broken hearts He heals again,
He heals all bleeding wounds.
He who knows the number of the stars
And calls each one by its name ;
Exalted is He, our Lord, and all-powerful,
His wisdom is boundless.
The Lord exalts the humiliated
but sinners He casts to the earth.
ALLELUIA Isa. 55, 6
Alleluia.
Seek the Lord, now that He allows Himself to be found ;
call upon Him, now that He is near.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL Mt 9:35-10.1 5-8
On seeing the crowd, Jesus is moved by compassion.
From the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew
In those days Jesus went around all the towns and villages,
where He taught in their synagogues
and proclaimed the Good News of the Kingdom
and healed all diseases and ailments.
At the sight of those crowds of people
He was moved by compassion,
because they were lying waste
like sheep without a shepherd.
Then He spoke to His disciples:
‘The harvest may be great
But workers are few
Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest
Send labourers to harvest.’
He called his disciples to him and gave them power
To cast out the unclean spirits
and heal all diseases and ills.
These 12 Jesus sent out with the command:
‘Do not go among the Gentiles
and enter not into a city of the Samaritans;
rather you must go
to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Proclaim on your journey:
The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Heal the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse lepers and cast out devils.
For nothing have ye received, for nothing must ye give.’

Encyclical of
Pope Fraciscus
On brotherhood and social friendship
120. Once again I make my own some words of St John Paul II,
the power of which may not have been understood, and I reserve
these to all: ‘God has given the earth to all the human race,
that it may sustain all its members without excluding or
favouring’. In this sense, I recall that ‘the Christian tradition
has never recognised the right to private property as absolute or inviolable
the social function of any form of private property and has
clearly emphasised’. The principle of the common
use of goods created for all is the ‘first
principle of the whole ethical-social order’, it is a natural
original and priority right. All the other rights to goods
necessary for the integral realisation of persons,
including that to private property and any other right, ‘must
as St Paul VI stated. The right to private property can only
of the universal destiny of created goods, and this has very concrete
However, it often happens that the secondary rights are placed above
priority and original rights, depriving them of their practical importance.
